Based upon where you were flying, congrats on finding the ONE tree in the middle of nowhere. I'm actually impressed that you managed to hit the one obstacle you had to deal with. Granted, I've also already done the exact same.
@x2thebox Hah! I had a better one more recently, but no camera. Flying a belly lander in the open field at this same site, I came in to land and hit a lone wooden stake that was stuck in the ground amongst the tall grass. It was a profile jet, and the impact ripped it in half when it should have been a soft landing!
@9001lulz Sorry! I laughed at your comment though if that helps. I wish R/C planes could be more exciting when they hit trees, like bursting in to flames etc like a Mike Bay movie.
Great vid! I'm using the keychain cam... I wish it was HD, but the quality isn't bad for a $10 camera. I'm surprised at how little prop interference you are picking up with the cam in that location. I'm working on building a plane specifically for shooting HD video, but in the mean time have to make due with what I've got (T-28 and cheap cam)
@dhorn92 I like the Idea of having an HD video platform too, but I do not think the T-28 is it. Engineering some sort of vibration dampening system for the camera would help, but it would be difficult to get a good straight forward angle without the prop obstructing the view, though the T-28 CAN take the weight quite well, I wanted it (and the canopy frame) in this video. I am thinking of Purpose Building a Stryker for unobstructed HD Video flying.
Good quality video from in the pit...nice one. Had me hooked right up to the point you 'branched out' - glad there was no damage. Excellent aeroplane - I have one myself.
@Thegrummanf14tomcat This was an HD Camcorder, its the only way it would fit! Fortunately it was not hurt in the gentle crash, but now I use a keychain cam which is much more expendable.
