  • i like your reviews but you dont need to talk shit about oblivion and i know u do skyrim

  • Holy shit FINALLY a review that I fully agree with. I actually played daggerfall after morrowind and oblivion and it became my favorite in the series for many of the reasons you've listed. I really don't care if the land mass was randomly generated, at least it feels like a real world. I feel like I'm in an artificial world in all the other games

  • Looks like medieval DOOM

  • You should look into Heretic or Hexen.

  • Something people may not be aware of is the fact Daggerfall was one of the first games to feature a precursor to pre-order DLC in that if you bought the game at CompUSA, you would get an extra 10 quests that you couldn't get anywhere else (those missions were later available as a download some time later but I'm not sure if they were put in the freeware version).

  • i want to know your opinion on skyrim

  • @skull9111

If you are typical skyrim fanboy... well you don't wanna know

  • @TheDEADKENNY good thing im not the typical fan boy lol, i just want to know his opinion

  • I like your newbie comment at the end. Oblivion was the first elder scrolls I played, wich is why I love it. I also love daggerfall, but if it wasn't an elder scrolls, I wouldn't like it nearly as much. And everyone, don't be hating on Oblivion.

  • Daggerfall has everything to do with Arena's plot. It's the 2nd sign to the end of the world.

  • Can you download this 4 free??

  • Link's in the description box.

  • I tried Arena and Daggerfall. Arena is almost broken in DOSbox if i minimize the game to see the spell prices after the first dungeon, the game crashes. I got out by a very, very lucky guess. And now it randomly makes DOSbox crash. Daggerfall is a lot of fun, but way too complex for me dungeonwise.

  • And judging by your previous comments to other people you are nothing but a little angry troll! Trolling you own videos! Getting top comment on your own videos! Your just an ass-hole.

  • You asked a rather simple question to which I gave a legitimate answer (part of which includes the word "probably" I might add), and now you're the one calling me a troll? Sounds to me like you need to think before you speak.

  • @DWTerminator Insult me some more bro..keep going it's cute. Seeing how your so intellectually superior and all.

  • Your trolling needs work. Enjoy the block.

  • I have a question....why is this game impossibly ridiculously difficult.

  • Because...

A: You're probably not playing it as an old-school RPG and expecting it to be as easy as Oblivion and Skyrim.

B: It's *supposed* to be hard... unlike the later games in the series.

  • @DWTerminator Wow I was subbed to you but that comment just got you one less subscriber. Your talking to me as if I where some kind of poser. I have put in well over 70+ hours for arena and Daggerfall. And to be honest? Daggerfall wasn't that great of a game even on the day it was released. Even after I patch it I still find my self falling through the floor outside of the map especially when i'm in dungeons. Not to mention some of my quest objects appearing to be invisible.

  • As a newbie, I can honestly say I fucking love this game.

Holy shit that spellmaker is so fucking cool.

  • the graphics are better then minecraft

  • You can be a vampire in Morrowind.

  • Many, many people have said this already. I'm aware of it.

  • How do I get cheatmode 1 working? I downloaded Daggerfall, added cheatmode 1 to z.cfg and god mode won't work. I am on Ubuntu,

  • Wasn't aware Daggerfall had cheats.

  • My Music won't work. Any recommendations on how to fix

  • I like daggerfalls conversation system, how you can pick polite, normal or blunt, ask directions. I wish they kept part of that in skyrim. Same with the where is on the map. Also I wish the journal was more like Morrowind with the index and stuff, not sure if that was in daggerfall.

  • Comment removed

  • I wish this game was on the DS, would have been awsome :P

  • Skyrim was pretty good about the difficulty, i remember my first time running up to a bear and just got shat on lol. I was so confused :P

  • @ri8002 Skyrims easy as hell.

  • @kingplutoxiao1 no not really.

  • @lazermunky25 What the hell are you talking about, to quote DW, it basicially holds your hand.

  • @kingplutoxiao1 It really doesn't, I found it to be challenging when it needed to be.

I'd rather a game be a little easy at times so I can actually enjoy it. The reason Daggerfall is my least favorite Elder Scrolls title (although I still enjoy it at times) is because, in addition to the unplayable glitchiness, the monotony, and the slow gameplay, it's hard in all the wrong places...

  • @lazermunky25 Its playable, find a patched version of it. If you think Oblivion is an easy mode RPG; Oh wait,im sorry first person action game with RPG elements. Leveling scaling doesn't change the core of the game(thats the point of level scaling, its super broken). If you don't like the gameplay of Daggerfall you obviously suck at it, or you don't havae a version of it with patched glitches(again, there are many patched versions of it).

  • @kingplutoxiao1 I have a fully patched version.

i did a long quest and got no reward, and the main quest can still die from fast travel.

If you can't win the main quest, the glitches are game breaking.

Also, I found Oblivion to be an RPG, just because it didn't have as many skills or the special traits element does not mean it is any less of an RPG.

I find your elitism disturbing. You are narrow-minded to the new because of self-enforced opinion-altering nostalgia.

  • @lazermunky25 There are many versions of Daggerfall. Again, oblivion is just an easy mode first person action game. With RPG elements.

  • @kingplutoxiao1 CDROM version fully patched to v.213 with CompUSA expansions, additional expansions, Andyfall, and fan patches.

And Oblivion is an RPG with FPA elements. the thing you speak of would be like Pathways into Darkness, not Oblivion. Also, if you played it on any setting other than the bottom of the slider, you'd find it's extremely unforgiving. I refute thee.

  • @lazermunky25 There are more versions. Ok heres oblivion"oh an enemy, wak wak wak". Its a FPA game with RPG elements.

  • @kingplutoxiao1 umm... Then what is Daggerfall

"oh here's a randomly generated NPC, and heres an anemy, wak wak wak OOPS, it crashed..."

  • @kingplutoxiao1 what difficulty you playing on lmao? Crank it up if it's too easy for you pro

  • @ri8002 It uses level scaling, you can breeze though it on hard mode. Seriously it holds your hands.

  • Gaint bat just died... shit just got real!

  • As a "newbie" I can say that the only problem I had with the game was the GOD AWFUL movement, But now that I'v got that fixed, the game is actually really good.

  • @DWTerminator

i can't waint for Elder Scrolls VI I hope that it will be like daggerfall!

    btf Skyrim is AWESOME!

    and thanks for review :)

  • You actually can become a vampire in Morrowind. It's pretty cool.

  • +1 Subscriber :D

  • Dark Brotherhood was TOO in Morrowind. Just extremely secret. As it's more advertised and easy to find in Oblivion and Skyrim.

  • They're in Tribunal, I know. Not in the base game though.

  • @DWTerminator I LOVE your review bro, you got me into Elder Scrolls Thanks dude.

  • Glad you like it.

  • i'd love to play it but it lag like hell on my pc

  • why dont you like oblivion ???? and my favorite is morrowind then daggerfall :)

  • Go watch my Oblivion review addendum.

  • I dont see any point in playing this game in 2011, the graphics are so shitty compared to present time games that it just ruins the whole experience IMO.

  • That's like saying art from the Renaissance is completely pointless because today we have paint-splatters that are considered art.

  • @DWTerminator Not really imo, I mean Morrowind graphics are okay, but thats the furthest I would go, this almost feels unplayable to me nowadays, and trust me I played doom and other games with similar graphics when I was younger, but today I just look at them and the only good thing I see is the nostalgia, nothing else.

  • It looks like minecraft... Lol

  • Daggerfall: 227 quest, and 63,125 square miles. To me that sounds very empty. Compaired with the newer games that are allot smaller, and have a bit less quest it just feels more full to me.

  • Keep in mind there are also several thousand towns, villages, and dungeons. It's far from empty.

  • @DWTerminator To be honest even though what you said is true, it still feels empty and bland. Although Morrowind may be slightly mainstream, at least you get this sense of a unique culture and land that greatly enhances the role-playing experience.

  • Morrowind pulls off the atmosphere and culture a lot better, sure, but most of that was due to graphics capabilities being so much better in 2002 than in 1996.

  • @linkomega123 I guess that would be good if you went for pure role playing. Making up your own quest and such.

  • Maybe in 10 more years we will have a game as detailed as Skyrim as big as Daggerfall.

  • Daggerfall is bigger, and has more quests then Oblivion And Skyrim. The reason? TES Ob. and Skyrim are much more difficult to create by there graphical engine. This engine on the DOS is old, and so much easier to program. And don't forget, how many custom made Quests are made for Obilvion and Skyrim.

  • vampirisim and Dark Brother hood are in morrowind...

  • Dark Brotherhood was only added in Tribunal.

  • @DWTerminator yeah a expansion back of Morrowind

  • Awesome review!

Can you also review An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire please?

  • Glad you like it. And yes, I'll review it if I ever get a copy.

  • @DWTerminator That's great! Subscribing.

Btw, if you having hard time getting a copy, i can help you getting the game by downloading it.. If you don't care to download you know..

  • I'm sure I'll find a copy eventually (I *did* manage to find a copy of Daikatana, after all). It's all about timing. Also, I don't engage in piracy so downloading it (unless Bethesda releases it as freeware like they did Arena and Daggerfall) is out of the question.

  • @DWTerminator Oh ok, i understand you, i know a lot of gamers avoid piracy, that's cool.

I hope you'll get a copy soon though!

  • Hopefully. I'm curious about it because Battlespire has a terrible reputation among longtime TES fans, but never got a chance to play it myself. We'll see.

  • @DWTerminator So you can download the game to try it and if you like it buy it. Like demo just with the full game you know.. Btw, i watched all your TES games reviews, and you make really great reviews. You also going to review Skyrim? I know theres tons of reviews for this game but if an TES fan like you will review it, it will be more interesting.. Oh and, i know that there is another game - TES Adventures: Redguard, but from what i seen it's just an 3rd Person adventure game.. So i ignore it.

  • @DWTerminator

And Redguard if you can find a cheap copy somewhere. From what I've read Bethesda has a desire to revisit both spin-offs but they've been too busy on the main series. In fact Redguard had a sequel in development called Eye of Argonia that was canceled for Morrowind (the Eye of Argonia pops up as an in-joke somewhere in Morrowind).

  • I've actually wanted to get my hands on both Battlespire and Redguard for quite some time. Problem is they're pretty hard to find, but you'll see reviews of them when I do eventually get them.

  • Yes this game had 16,000 square miles or so to explore, problem was it was literally all the same. The towns were the same, the dungeons were the same, the enemies were the same. That, and this was long before RPG makers had thought of the word immersion. I nearly beat this game, till all my saves got corrupted. Granted, I did enjoy this game at the time... but how you can possibly say this is better than Oblivion, Morrowind, or especially Skyim, that I don't have a clue.

  • Mostly because Oblivion's so ridiculously easy that it's mind-numbingly boring and Morrowind feels slightly off. As for Skyrim... mindless hack n' slash. End of story.

  • @DWTerminator Don't really see it as a mindless hack and slash. I'm playing it and the less skilled you are with a certain class of weapons, the more you struggle with it

(Serious Stamina drainage and misses). I like it. It feels more RPG with the skills though it is pretty easy to level up (Even on hard difficulties) and I don't get how a Mace should be in the same category as a sword. As compared to Oblivion where all the weapons were held and swung like balloons...

  • :O WOW the elder scrolls games have come ALOOONNNGGGG WAY!

  • Both good and bad... mostly bad.

  • Sure, Daggerfall is a huge game, but it's all randomly generated nonsense. So it's really not fun to explore around and find towns or dungeons. Not to mention that they're all the same, anyways.

  • I have never played an es. Game, but after hearing the praise about skyrim i seriously want to check this. My friend whos a hardcore zelda fan even said that he might like about as much as he likes oot. And damn does he love oot

  • Err...

    Vampirism was in Morrowind

  • daggerfall is rediculous... i just spent the last 5 hours escaping the first dungeon, figuring out how to get to daggerfall city, then doing some investigation work for a blacksmith in i forget what shop. there are a rediculous amout of NPC's, and dizzying amount of dialogue options. i mean this game is beyond massive... ive been really patient so far. ill give it like 20 more hours and if i still feel overwhelmed im giving up. this is the most ambitious game ive ever seen.

  • labyrinth tunnels; no shit it took me about 2 hours to get out of the first dungeon.

  • how do u install it

  • I'll PM you a link and post it in the description box.

  • @XxG4M3RBOYZxX There are videos online that explain how using dosbox. Just use the search bar.

  • no they touched upon dark brotherhood in the Morrowind expansion i think

  • Note that when I made this review I hadn't played the Morrowind expansions.

  • @DWTerminator

thank you for making meplay this ;)

  • Glad you're liking it.

  • Played this game for little over an hour. Pretty fun, and character creation was surprisingly straight forward and engaging. Only real gripe was the first dungeon, after an hour and a half, I was still going through it. I like large dungeons, but it was kind of tedious. Still, the map function was well done, even if it merely gave them an excuse to go overboard on dungeon design.

  • I dunno how you managed to take that long to get through the first dungeon. Normally it takes me 15 minutes or so to get out of it, or if I decide to scour it for every item I can find, it takes about 40.

  • @DWTerminator Well I tend to take longer to beat games than other people. Many say they can beat Dragon Age in about 40 hours, for example, while both of my playthroughs have taken me around 90 hrs! With Daggerfall, I was also trying to get used to the controls, and I passed the exit (didn't recognize the exit decal for what it was) several times. I also try to collect all loot.

  • @matternicuss Both Arena and Daggerfall were unrelenting with their first dungeon. Once you know where the exit is, they're not bad. But otherwise, no. The idea was you had to 'prove your worth' before going into the 'big world'. But once you go through the first dungeon... an entire universe awaits :) What DF achieves best in the TES series is atmosphere. Despite the dated graphics, the feeling you're in a truly huge world and you need to seek towns to rest, gives you a sense of depth.

  • @Thoreksir I wouldn't say 'unrelenting' but the first dungeon in DF is definitely a doozy. I think I died at least once or twice (still not nearly as brutal as the first 2 Gothic games). My only real trouble was finding the exit. I agree though, DF does have a great sense of atmosphere, but honestly, I had similar feelings when I first played Morrowind, and even Oblivion, though to a lesser extent for Oblivion. TES games feel almost suffocating with their size and scope.

  • Bethesda claims that the scale of the game is equal to twice the size of Great Britain:[2] around 487,000 square kilometers. According to Todd Howard, Morrowind, is 0.01% the size of Daggerfall, but it should be noted most of Daggerfall's terrain was randomly generated. Vvardenfell, the explorable part of Morrowind in the third game has 10 square miles (25.9 square kilometers).[3][4] The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has approximately 16 square miles (41.4 square kilometers) to explore.

  • Shame Bethesda didn't let people get the manual for DF when they made it free, it's tough for people to get into a game like this without the manual. For a start they don't know about the view mode, and how they can have an interface like Oblivion's with mouse-look and WASD! Also, because of the perceived bugs, people tend to re-load when anything goes wrong in the game, like failing a quest, when the game is designed to be played THROUGH events like that. You should only re-load when you die!

  • I never beat this game. The random dungeon generation really screwed this game up for me. I beat arena, but found this game to be extremely frustrating and buggy .At least in my youth I did. I never revisited it my later years. But even as a youngin, I was able to beat other giants like Ultima 7 and Ultima Underworld 1 and 2. Games just don't have soul like they used to. Although Skyrim will be great. No doubt in my mind.

  • Well the Ultima games are a vastly different style from TES to begin with (even the 2 Underworld games), but I can understand your frustration. Daggerfall requires a LOT of patience to get into and enjoy, and it's totally unforgiving if you get lost in the dungeon.

And no, Skyrim won't be great. There's no possible way it can ever live up to the ridiculous hype it has, let alone actually be a decent RPG. At *best* it's going to be a decent hack n' slash.

  • @DWTerminator I hope bethesda proves you wrong. Although I do agree that is been consolized, and it appears it steps away from the trend of the first 3. I am looking forward to it, but hoping it will be good. Game companys are catering to the console crowd, and develop what sells. It is sad :-( I miss the games of the old days. There are very few games these days that do it "right".

  • I certainly hope they do prove me wrong. I know they won't though. Their recent track record is just too pathetic to do otherwise, and since far more people love Oblivion's "hurr durr whack everything in head" to most RPG's "take it steady and tactically/carefully," Skyrim's just going to go for that all over again.

  • @DWTerminator You guys will both be proven wrong -.-

Oblivion by itself was a great hack and slash game with good RPG elements and stupid game decisions like the Endurance stat and the fact that you could get 100 points on all stats. BUUUUT. the mods is what made oblivion THE number one RPG of all time. I have no doubt in my mind that the same will happen for skyrim. It will be fun to play through and complete. But 3 to 4 years down the line, mods will make it great.

  • @DWTerminator If Skyrim tones down the level scaling and works on making the main quest interesting (with much more voice actors), I think itll be a good game. Oblivion had severe faults, but it was fun and engaging at least for the first 20 or so levels (after that, you realize there's no incentive to level up). We will see.

  • @DWTerminator sorry to be one of dozens of angry people but what is dagerfall's combat. oh, hack & slash, "but" but nothing, you wave your mouse around and he waves his sword, hacking and slashing? you can complain bout a lot of things in Oblivion, but sry, the combat is not of the things

  • Combat in Daggerfall is based on behind-the-scenes die rolls. Consider that versus Oblivion's *literal* hack n' slash gameplay, where your stats don't matter and you'll hit or miss based on whether you're close enough to the enemy or aiming at them.

  • @DWTerminator oh....lol...sorry :)

  • @DWTerminator tell me this, how can a blade pass directly through a person and not do any damage?

  • @XxtheboredonexX i agree with your assessment of Daggerfall when comparing it to other Elder Scrolls games but i think that the combat system in Oblivion and Skyrim has nothing wrong with it.

  • I dont mean to sound rude, but I think your opinion is a little bias. Throughout the entire review you imply that Daggerfall is the greatest RPG of all time. It is a great game and all but its not that good. Besides, it came out in 1996!

  • I never imply Daggerfall's the best RPG of all time. Far from it. It *is* the best Elder Scrolls game (which is definitely not the best RPG series of all time), however and a solid game to boot. So what if it came out in '96? Are you implying that every RPG since then is beyond a shadow of a doubt a better game than Daggerfall? If anything, THAT sounds biased.

  • @DWTerminator what would you say is the best rpg series of all time....

  • @DWTerminator "(which is definitely not the best RPG series of all time)" Sorry, but that is opinion.

  • Sorry, but that's a fact. In the history of role-playing games, Elder Scrolls isn't anywhere *near* the top of the list. Especially not when you have such series as Ultima, Wizardry, Might & Magic, Lands of Lore, Baldur's Gate, and Gothic.

  • @DWTerminator Sorry... but that is still OPINION. Hell, someones fave game could be terminator salvation. As i said it is OPINION!

  • @DWTerminator ...no, that's not a fact. That's your opinion, and that's fine. But you don't need to be a douchebag about it.

  • You seriously need to play some real RPG's...

  • @DWTerminator I love your logic. How is that comment even somewhat related to how I said your opinion is not a fact? Good lord.

You're such an elitist prick, holy hell.

And I like how you automatically assume that I don't play any "real RPG's" (which is a stupid, snobby thing to say) just because I can differentiate between a fact and an opinion. I was just playing Daggerfall, fyi. But sometimes I don't want a game that's incredibly hard and frustrating and hardcore, because I have enough

  • @DWTerminator problems in my life already. Sometimes I like to play a simple, easy game like Oblivion to get lost in the world and take my mind off things, not be a super hardcore roleplayer that's an asshole to everyone who hasn't played Daggerfall for 500 hours.

  • It's related, because had you played real RPG's like the ones I mentioned, you'd *know* that TES is, while good, not anywhere near *that* good.

You say I'm an elitist prick, when *you* are the one who is trying to persuade me that a FACT is not such. Elder Scrolls isn't remotely in the same league of quality, depth (not just gameplay-wise either), or lasting appeal as the other games I mentioned.

I suggest we both stop this ridiculous argument for the sake of everyone else.

  • Definitely one of my favorites, this and Baldurs Gate II are the best RPG games ever to be released in my opinion. Still can't wait for Skyrim though, but Daggerfall is a classic that hasn't been surpassed yet!

  • I don't get it, I'll admit I only started playing this game recently but so far the vastness of the game seems very superficial. The huge landscapes are generic and boring, not at all worth exploring. Once you level up a few times the game is even easier than oblivion. The whole infinite number of quests idea would be nice if they weren't all so horrendously boring and generic after a while. In spite of all this I like the game for what it is, but why do people love it so much?

  • It's never "even easier than Oblivion." You have to think of this both in terms of technical achievement (the absolutely massive world size has yet to be surpassed in an RPG) and "classic RPG feel." It definitely *feels* right for a classic RPG. Hence why you're probably not enjoying it as much as people who've been playing RPG's for a long time do.

  • @Hungryturtlez No shit the randomly generated landscapes and dungeons are generic. They are randomly generated! What do you expect from a game that came out in 1996? World detail that rivals the The Matrix? For a game that came out in 1996, this was extremely impressive.

  • @EnigmaHood I know, I wasn't expecting anything beyond what the game offers, the only thing I don't get is why its supposed to be the best in the TES series. The new game worlds are smaller and there are less (useless) skills and guilds. But to me it doesn't feel like the series lost anything. The game world, towns and quests are infinitely more interesting to me than Daggerfall's world. The game probably would have blown me away in 1996, but I stilled would have been bored by it.

  • @Hungryturtlez It's just the video maker's opinion. Personally I don't agree with him either, like you said the later games were smaller, but had infinitely more detail which is much more important. Maybe for whatever reason he just liked the fact that Daggerfall is much bigger. Generic landscapes or not, that's still an impressive feature to boast.

  • @Hungryturtlez I totally agree with you m8! I HAVE been playing RPG's for a long time and I've played Daggerfall back in the day and at that time --- sure! It was outstanding, I'd give it about a 4 out of 5. But new games such as Oblivion have topped this and the score must change. The environs are all generic, and the so called "HUGE" world is just a world full of nothing to explore -- nothing....In Oblivion you can RP a character, explore a vast world, etc.. DF doesn't suck, but times change

  • So, anyway, I'm having a blast with Daggerfall but the one thing that annoys me about it is the complicated dungeon map.How long does it usually take to find a quest object in a dungeon? It takes me an eternity. Any strategies? Or is there a mod or patch that makes this easier?

  • It usually takes quite a while. I don't think there's any way to speed up the process though.

  • As for "No hope for skyrim". I've put a lot of hours into all main ES games and I will certainly be getting Skyrim. Don't call a game a failure if you haven't even played it.

  • Considering how horrendously boring Oblivion was to me in the long run and how Skyrim looks to be even MORE dumbed-down and even LESS of an RPG, it's extremely unlikely I'll enjoy it. Much like I can tell the new XCOM game is a total betrayal of the series and will serve no other purpose than to effectively kill said series.

  • @DWTerminator If you didn't like it, then it's your opinion but please back up your arguments. Also, you have BARELY seen any gameplay of the conversation system let alone the actual Roleplaying aspect of the game. Please define RPG to me.

  • If you need me to define "RPG" to you then you clearly don't understand why Skyrim looks to be terrible. If your idea of an "RPG" is "my character's good at EVERYTHING, has one solution to every problem (involving some variation of 'whack it in the head'), is surrounded by morons who can't do even the simplest of tasks by themselves, can only change entire wardrobes rather than a pair of trousers, and is nigh-indestructible," then Skyrim's right up your alley.

  • @DWTerminator No. The reason I ask you what an RPG is because you seem to add more requirements for a game to be considered and RPG. The character in the demo was level 30 so he would be pretty good. An RPG (No, not a rocket propelled grenade) is a game where you play a role and evolve your character and is story throughout an adventure. You really shouldn't say "OMG Skyrim has a better combat system! It's an obvious hack and slash!". We've only seen so much gameplay for us to judge.

  • With Skyrim, Bethesda's removed 3 of the skills/spell schools as well as the class system altogether, made the armor even less robust than Oblivion's already simplistic system, made your character able to marry pretty much anyone for no reason other than to say "if Fable can do something that stupid, we can too," have obviously not progressed in their writing ability (storyline looks boring), and from what I can tell are focusing entirely on "bash thing in head" as opposed to "role-play."

  • @DWTerminator What you said is almost entirely based on speculation and opinion and I respect your opinion. I don't care much for the skills, I agree about the armor (My preference), marriage is being developed to be meaningful unlike Fable where it was only for comic relief, I disagree with your view on the story (Yet again, opinions) and I disagree because, again we haven't seen enough of the role-playing or what the devs call roleplaying. If you have low expectations, you'll be surprised.

  • I'm keeping my expectations extremely low both because Bethesda hasn't released a game that's impressed me since Morrowind and because everything they're showing of Skyrim is only confirming my suspicions. When it comes time for my review of it (which could take quite a while considering there's no way I'm buying it for full price), we'll see what happens.

  • Oblivion was terrible. Daggerfall was pretty good. But Morrowind is my favorite. I fear for Skyrim.

  • If you saw the E3 footage... there's absolutely no hope for Skyrim. It's a mindless hack n' slash (I hesitate to call it a shooter due to the lack of guns).

  • @DWTerminator Wow. I'm sorry but that's idiotic. In what way or form does Skyrim resemble a "mindless hack and slash"? They just drastically improved the combat to give it a little action. Oblivion and Skyrim are both Rpgs with hack and slash elements and I don't see how they are anything else. It's like saying "Oh Battlefield 3 is re-introducing jet combat! That obviously means that it is a flight simulator with shooting elements derp." And I'm just curious. Why do you think oblivion is stupid?

  • Skyrim is getting further and further from what makes an RPG as such. They're trying to pass it off as an RPG when it's really little more than an open-world FPS where you use bows, swords, and spells instead of guns.

Oblivion's riddled with problems. Horrendously bad writing, technical issues (bugs/performance problems), *terrible* level scaling (thus making the game FAR too easy), too generic a setting, stats are practically pointless, and dumbing-down of mechanics are the worst offenders.

  • @SubZandwiches I think he had complaints about the leveling system where every monster levels up with the character. And that it ended up being boring.

  • @SubZandwiches skyrim is definitly good-(best rpg of all time) and for ME the best game of all time but oblivion had a level scaling problem leveling doesnt make only you stronger but the npcs too i mean a barkeeper with deadric armor COME ON!!!

  • @altdoom615 oblivion for the comp sux but if u get th new 1 for the xbox its super good

  • @Dramin99 Oblivion for the computer is basically the same game except with better graphics and mods. How does it suck?

  • By the way what I noticed is that can't you play as an imperial? I mean being of imperial race?

  • Nope. That wasn't allowed until Morrowind.

  • @DWTerminator That's sad. :( Also quite annoying when you're a Khajiit and everyone tends to hate them, and that results in a lot of a failed conversations.

  • I have found an easier way to install Daggerfall, and also a little recreation called DaggerXL which enhances it and brings some old originally intended features back and fixes some bugs. If anyone is interested send me a PM and I will give you the links. It brings always welcome stuff like increased view distance, better textures, brings back old quests. Personally I use a Windows 7 and I couldn't install Daggerfall with DOSBox and Google didn't help. So anyone is welcome to ask.

  • closed the video when you were saying oblivion is stupid

  • I'm not surprised. Nor do I really care. You have your opinions; I have mine.

  • why are u running against shelfs?

  • Movement's a little sluggish.

  • I have trouble comparing this to oblivion I love both of them but for different reasons, but they're both definately better than Arena and Morrowind, although those are both also very good

  • Great review but i 'm pretty sure there are 7 endings

  • I like your game reviews. And i also like the fact that you review older games too

  • Glad you like them.

  • I wish i could play this game again but dosbox frustrates me to the point where i give up trying to run the damn thing. Thank fucking god dos is dead

  • DOS is hardly dead. All Windows operating systems run from it. You just don't see all the background stuff.

Besides, if DOSBox is hellish to you, you probably don't have the patience for this game anymore.

  • @DWTerminator I went another route i ended up dl a version that had the iso file in it. burned it to a dvd and got around the no cd message which for the life of me i could not get around. I am happy to say the game thus far i do have the patience for. I really have to brush up on dos though i am so damn rusty and gotten lazy lol. Awesome review man keep it up.

  • That works too. But really, if you have a guide, installing Daggerfall in DOSBox is actually pretty easy. I'm not a DOS expert, of course, but it's something I can and will use when necessary for running my old games. Plus, you can use it to great amusement whenever someone acts like you have "mad computer skillz" or you're a "1337 h4x0r" when all you're doing is running an old program or something.
