These guys would get paid $1000/night in NJ and play for great crowds too...maybe $1500/gig...there is no way with the sound of 5 people in the audience that they are paid what they are worth from a pizza joint. How does a pizzeria boot the hottest duo in the country?
I live right outside Nashville (Music City) & I know there is talent waiting everyday there is waiting to be discovered. You guys have it & it is being wasted in the Pizza/Beer Pub. Damn....all those people in Salt Lake City already use to you.....a couple of them clap when each one of them should be on their feet applauding.....that song was awesome. What a waste of talent not being able to be heard nationwide.

@Musicmate93 Thanks. And in terms of the guitar parts, I don't do anything very noteworthy, so any average guitarist should be able to do what I do, and probably do it much better than I do. I consider myself more of a singer who accompanies himself, rather than a guitarist who sings. Not false modesty, just the reality.

@davvenordin Mostly my ears, to be honest. I usually do a little googling to save me from retyping the lyrics, and to see if anyone has anything resembling the right chords. But a majority of the time, the chords are wrong. So you need to use your ears. Or eyes, in the case of YouTube. :)

@Akinseak I'm using a GR-20 guitar synth, so the synth sound is playing the same notes as the guitar, just converter to midi. If you look carefully, you can see the pickup attached to my acoustic.

I think when you get some people with an agenda who insist on being negative towards you, you need to take it as a positive. There are people in the world who don't like seeing talent as it makes them feel inferior. The music, vocals and production are always top notch, so keep them coming mike!

@ssmithlprt For whatever reason, there are a few people that dislike what I do, and refuse to let it go. They've sent me hateful personal messages and posted nasty comments, which is why I had to switch to pre-approving all comments, rather than going through and cleaning up their garbage every day. So at least a handful of the dislikes are predictable, at this point.

@ssmithlprt For whatever reason, there are a few people that dislike what I do, and refuse to let it go. They've sent me hateful personal messages and posted nasty comments, which is why I had to switch to pre-approving all comments, rather than going through and cleaning up their garbage every day. So at least a handful of the dislikes are predictable, at this point.

@mikemassedotcom I just cant understand that. You are ridiculously talented. This cover is better than the original. Its sound quality is excellent. There is nothing wrong with it. I think it might just be that some people think its funny to go around and dislike things done by people with real talent. If you didnt live so bloody far away from where I live I would drive down just for a piece of pizza and to listen to a couple of songs. Keep it up Mike. You have made it. We love your music.

@mikemassedotcom hey there! i am a big fan and i really appreciate your work. but that pre-approving thing... i don't know. i think it's part of the game if you put yourself on youtube. there will always be haters for whatever reason. i dislike them as much as the next guy who is truly interested in your work, but i think as an artist you have (to learn) to live with criticism instead of suppressing it.

@HerrJoehnke Well, every comment ends up getting read by me, whether I "approve" it or not, so I'm certainly still subject to the criticism. And if someone posts a critical comment that isn't abusive, rude, etc., I'll still obviously approve it. The one exception: not gonna let too many more "Louis C.K." jokes through--I think we've covered that enough by now!
