  • Chess is really a wonderful game.

  • @FilmComposeRaHoppe yeah right the graphics suck, there hasn't been a patch in like 1000 years, and everyone whores over leaderboard rankings

  • End continuation, after rook and queen check for write on 8th and 7th rank, simply rxr wins a rook

  • @ipatdragon That's the benefit of post-game analysis just like in any other competitive game. Learning from the best is really beneficial, especially in games like chess.

  • @ipatdragon Don't be such an idiot. Often times I know much stronger moves then these Grandmasters, not because I am smart, but because I have a top of the line desktop and Rybka 4. After letting rybka analyze the game position for over an hour, I can be extremely confident that that move was a bad one.

  • @ipatdragon dumb..... this is why he studies the games after , find better moves he could of found. without the timelimit and pressure. its easier to find better moves without the pressre and now i find itfunny that you think you said something smart....

  • @ipatdragon nice way to assume things and fail, loser.

  • @ipatdragon "funny ha ha" or "funny peculiar"?

  • @ipatdragon you got pwnd

  • at 4:00 why not white to sacrifce the knight to b5 and attacking queen? if pawn takes then white queen can take the bishop with check.

  • @XxxxTxTxxxX Because of 8...Qb4+ 9. Nc3

White accomplishes nothing and black gets his queen into b4, still its a drawish position tho.

  • Kingscrusher goes into more detail, plus he's rated 2100+ .... :-D

  • He knows nothing bout chess, but trys to sound smart

  • @FunnyGuy4477 and ur the expert?

  • HI my freind name is vu anh

  • no it's not lol. Retarded rook on a7.

  • at 8:38 Qh7 is checkmate.

  • @RYNOtheAssassin if you dare do Qh7 you are doomed.... check the a7 square and check your tactic again.

  • did karpov ever get married?

  • @9:57 what would of happened if Karpov trades rooks at h8 instead of moving the knight from e4 to f6?

  • I think its not even a trade as Kasprov can't take the black rook with his queen. I think if there was more time Karpov wud have won this.

  • speaks pretty fast!

  • Karpov does defenetily preffer classical chess matches.

  • nice explanation :-)

  • So basically it transposes to the Colle for Kasparov. Brutal attack!

  • kasparov is still the best in chess

  • in 8:39 the queen could go to h7 right ?

  • @chico95hot

    Rxh7

  • @chico95hot No. Rook on a7 prevents it.

  • Well im an amateur chess player from sweden. I really like your analysis of the game. very clear and easy to understand.

what i really dont like to see here in the comments are all the "why dont he just do this or that" since its very easy to understand the following train of thought; "Kasparov and karpov are two of the worlds foremost chessplayers of all time" and this is a BLITZ game.

  • How do you know you're explaining the game correctly? What if chessplayers have another way of seeing things?

  • @damthatriver09 Oh you retarded ego tripped kid.. If grand you really thinks that this video doesn't fit your way of playing chess then don't listen to it. This guy is doing a great job and is actually doing this video on his Free Time! I'd wanna see you do anything like this for anyone else on your free-time

  • @damthatriver09 good question

  • very professional

  • very impressive explanation. thank you.

  • how much time did they have??

  • 9:55 worst moves ??After xx. Rd1 Rxh8! And Karpov wins :))

  • @KirKanu Rxh8?? followed by f4# how embarrassing

  • @KirKanu are you kidding me? If Karpov plays Rxh8, Kasparov just plays f4 and that's a checkmate.

  • @KirKanu are you retarded? wtf??? fucking kid who uses emoticons ":))" get the fuck out of here, what Rxh8! what "!" kid? then f4#. (CHECKAMTE) idiot...

  • @alinusD To begin with, I didn't insult you. Secondly, with two other comments GIVING AWAY the move, and not insulting me (just maybe outlining my error), you pretty much look like a retard, repeating their comments. Pathetic. TY cleed and joaq for the nice f4# comment.

  • @jrobichess ey man please cast chess games from pros and you get a lot of suscribers and make money to pay for your expenses and time invested in casting. Its similar to a computer game called Starcraft 2, there are commentarists that have 300k+ suscribers and make decent money doing what they love most.!

  • If Nf6 was objectively a stronger move than Bd6 then why did Karpov not play it?

  • @bertbla1234 Masters are not monsters. They cant play the best move. It was a blitz match too.

  • Karpov is one of the best players of all time and this is only move 6. He has played the same line before winning against the very same opponent, who is widely considered the best player ever. In the opening there is no best move until you have solved the game of chess. Jrobi's explanation is just too simple. I would rather trust an ex world champion than an unknown master.

  • at 2:50 why cant he just put his pawn to g6 then he can put his bishop there

  • h7 mate....

  • 3:30

    ... knight on e4 is a monster (y)

  • if white takes the f5 pawn and continues the attack, Qh7 is mate

  • Excellent commenting.

  • How much time do these guys play with?

  • nice video.

  • Jrobi I am 2234 Fide I challenge you to a blitz match on chesscube best of 13?:)

  • Kasparov was still playing in 2009?

  • how long does this game last? minut, or two? Nice, thanks for this.

  • go kasparov! lol

  • Where is game 3?

  • Comment removed

  • just beautifull

  • wait after Rxf5 Ne6 Rh5 f6 Qg7# right??????

  • @sethmaster100 not really. if Qg7 then Rxh7. =)

  • @Strpwnown, because white plays pawn f2-f4, and white wins

  • after white moved his castle to d1 at 9:54 why didn't black just catch his castle on h8 and just start crashing :S if i am wrong please tell me

  • i´m just wasting my time with your videos man....´´out of time´´...´´out of time´´

i don´t understand whyyyyyyy they put a timer in a such important game....they are the best players in the worllllld....just let us see the end fucking morons !!!... who the hell come with the idea????

  • Nice analysis jrobi

I like how you always say "by any stretch of the imagination" =)

  • Si les blancs jouent fou capture h7,les noirs jouent g6.

  • at 4:18 instead of the knight on e2 why he didnt capture the pawn on h7?

  • @0nhj

Man Im wondering the same thing wtf?

  • @0nhj because he could block with the pawn at g6

  • @0nhj If Bxh7 thn ...g6 traps the bishop.

  • Great analysis. They should put this stuff on espn :)

  • what about Q-e5 ? .. preventing the rook h8 ?

  • both of these players are better than i am

  • This is a good place to learn from.

  • Bd6 is simply the best move, almost equalizing in this position.

Karpov knows what he is doing. Just read Kasparov's books on his matches with Karpov if you really want to understand this position.

  • At 2:45 Karpov decides to play bishop to d6...How can a GRANDMASTER play a dumb move like that? He's neglecting to develop his other pieces and it was a waste of a move. Generally speaking you shouldn't move the same piece twice in the opening. But more importantly this move is doing nothing for his position and most of all he's neglecting the importance of developing his other pieces.

  • @VitalSigns1 Bd6 is not a 'dumb' move, in fact, the real question is how anyone who probably does not know anyting about it, should critize Karpov who spent about

30 years analyzing the Queens Gambit

  • @fravatel Oh shut up little boy. It WAS a dumb move and everyone should be able to see that. I don't care how long Karpov spent studying the Queen's Gambit, the fact of the matter is that the guy knows NOTHING about chess.

  • @VitalSigns1 I am sorry but my FIDE rating is 2300, what's yours?

  • @fravatel I never calculated it, but I'm sure I could annihilate you any time and day.

  • Karpov should pay Kasparov for a lesson!

  • Your vids are great, helpede me a lot. Thanks

  • thanks for the commentary. that is some good insight

  • Comment removed

  • Not a very intriguing game.

  • kasparov and karpov are the best ever.

  • so was it a draw becausetime ran out?

  • very good kasparov is the grandmaster

  • there was no prawn sacrifice

  • Kasparov's chess IQ is too high to be human....

  • @michaeljimpogi23 above statement maybe came from a chess beginner. Nf6 is an usual move played by a normal or strong player. That's why it was said karpov's blunder. He missed that.

  • very good video

  • You are incredibly articulate and well-spoken. I plan on using your videos on YouTube to instruct my chess club members (high school) on some of the finer nuances of the game. Thank you for your efforts! They are appreciated!

  • Appreciated. Kasparov is the best!

  • very clear voice, detail explanation and analysis.. even a noob like me understands you. I hereby proclaim you as the TubeMaster of Chess in youtube.

  • LOL @ "When it comes to the center of the chessboard, this is Kasparov's house."

  • Mr. jrobics, how can i get one rybka computer program. i want to enhance my games. tnx

  • excellent commentary

  • The greatest comming out of retirement and destroying his rval. Gary Kasparov is the Greatest Chess Player ever to play the Game. Gary has dominated the World Championship like no other. He has consistantly beaten the best there is when the World Championship was on the line. Better than Karpov and Fischer combined the man is a living legend just like Nature boy Ric Flair

  • @campi13072 better than Fischer and Kasparov combined? lol he was not much better than Karpov, and also if Karpov had been in better physical shape he'd probably won the 1984 match.

  • Karpov needed Florencio Campomanes to intercede and stop the match after 48 games. Under the conditions at that time the winner had to score 6 wins. there was a long string of draws, and then Kasparov won 3 games in a row, and Karpov was on the brink of a mental break down. Had that match continued Kasparov would have beaten him in 84.

  • Campomanes I believe, was like the equivalent of this, a boxing trainer or coach who was about to throw in the towel because his man couldn't get it done. Read the book Maneuvers in Moscow 86 world chess championship., it explains it way better than I can. Karpov would not have defeated Fischer in 72. Fischer was too good at that time

  • I feel the need to clarify the comment I made yesterday. I am in no way on the playing level of Karpov and Kasparov. All I said was Kasparov is a better player than both of them combined. However some ass clown mis interpreted that

  • Fischer probably was a more genius player but i agree kasparov would ve been the greatest opponent fischer could have played against!

  • u fking fail as always xD on topic: nice explanation

  • there is no doubt that fischer was great, but i doubt he could've beaten kasparov

  • Nf6+??? is what Kasparov (white) could play? I have no idea.

  • Fantastic tutorial. Chess is the ultimate game.

  • keep going

  • Thz

  • as usual , excellent video

    thanks

  • i dont have audio please tell me who was black and who was white im very interested

  • Kasparov is white

  • Comment removed

  • Kasparov is on an other level...

  • Clash of the Chess Immortals? Maybe if it wasn't rapid time. Otherwise it's just meh

  • lol thnx for uploading.

  • at 9:57 when white moves his castle to d1 why doesn't black take the second castle on h8?

  • because you can move f2 pawn up twice and check mate...

  • very clever...

  • This is a good point because Black could grind out a draw from these moves:

    1.Rxh8 2. Qf7 Qc8 3. g3 Qc5 4. Qg7+ Ke6 5. Qg6+ Ke7 6. Qg7+ Ke8 7. Qxh8+ Ke7

    8. Qg7+ Ke6 9. Qg6+ Ke5

Basically this is dead equal position and the best moves are for white to just check with the queen and black just move the King out of the way.

  • At 8:39, after the pawn moves to F6, why wouldn't the queen move to G6 instead of H8? G6 would be mate.

  • Bah, never mind, I ignored the knight for some reason.

  • the knight that doesnt make any sense you mean the hrook

  • Its not mate the knight can move to G7.

  • What is the point of your comment? It makes no sense at all

  • Thanks jrobi!

  • Thanks for checking it out LC!

  • It's not as crushing as you showed it to be.

  • Which part raptri?

  • Kasparov didn't really have a clear advantage until Karpov blundered.

  • Short of an actual pawn Kasparov definitely had the better position leading up to the blunder.

  • But remember, this is Karpov, the methodic master, champion of the Petrov. Sure, white was more active and had a few tactical shots, but were they enough to push for a decisive advantage? I don't think so. But cool video anyways. :D

  • @jrobichess - yeah, that's what the engines are saying - but, engines are not God (at all) and the positional advantage Garry enjoyed was not winning. With correct play I think it would draw.

  • I love your videos, but no offense, you're not going deep enough in your analysis. Maybe you could post an annotated game in the description...would be an excellent way to study. You make it sound like Kasparov is manhandling Karpov, which isn't the case at all... Most of GM moves go far beyond immediate (i.e within 3 moves) analysis. It's a war of who can create the first weaknesses to attack (which Kasparov did here). Just my two cents.

  • Jrobi, thanks for the video.

Strange question though, what type of headset do you use while recording videos?

  • Thanks for the constant video uploads!!! Always appreciated JROBI!!! =]

  • Thanks for checking it out Kevin!

  • Great game between these two chess heavyweights. Thanks for posting Jrobi!

  • Thanks M!

  • It seems that this game can show that even at a high level, the basics are still there: control the center! Great commentary!

  • Thanks for checking it out DDR!

  • Nice commentary.

  • Thanks A!

  • excellent videos i love you work and i am a big fan keep it up

  • Thanks abclucabcluc!

  • You rock jrobi !

  • Thanks!

  • Learned a lot, tks!!!

  • Glad to hear that davilacm!

  • You explain chess very well. Thanks for the great videos.

  • Thanks for checking it out mini!

  • You are really good commenting these videos and I enjoy them a lot :) I think you're about the same strength that I am but I never ever could do an analyzing of this level and clarity. Keep up the good work :>

  • Thanks K - I appreciate the feedback!

  • thanks for the video loved it !!!

  • Thanks for checking it out M!

  • Thanks for vid.

  • Jrobi uses databases and an engine to analyze these games as an educational tool for us lesser humans. Of course he doesn't think he's an equal to these grand masters.

  • Thank you, you must put a lot of work into these videos. Amazing how quickly a 11 minute video goes when it's interesting.

One point. I kept losing track of who was who, maybe you could put their names on the board?

  • Thanks from Finland.

  • Thanks for checking it out John!

  • Wow! thats pretty cool! Thanks for the vid!! :-)
