this song reminds me of the bittersweet concept that everything that is created and exists for the most part must come to an end and that we are not here forever.
I was shocked when I saw the trailer and saw John Carpenter's name listed as the director. It didn't seem like the kind of movie he would do. Then I watched it, and I was convinced he was capable of handling a movie like this. I just wish he could've done the same for MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN.
@AlltimeTrance He didn't do RUNAWAY TRAIN. But yes, everything else you listed as masterpieces are masterpieces. GHOSTS OF MARS isn't a very good movie. It probably would've been better had it not been a remake of ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13, but who knows.
This is some of the most beautiful theme music I've ever heard! I was really young when Starman first came out. I didn't first watch it till I was almost 10 years, I understood what it was about even that young and I loved it! I actually cried at the ending because I was sad that he had to leave but also happy that he didn't die. I like to rewind the end credits just so I can hear this beautiful music more than once.
@mrbbsdp2627 Yeah. I remember as a kid and later a teenager wanting to go too. Just felt like where he was from was a much nicer place. Also adds to the film that they never give his home a name, they just say he is an alien. Makes the film oh so much better for it. Great film.
Always a favorite movie of mine, I actually found this movie on blueray at the NEX and bought it. I remember when I was just a kid watching this movie and the song always entrapped me. The song portrays both life, love and loss. If I could ever choose a song as my farewell it would be this song.

Tears, every friggin time. John Carpenter made more powerful music than the Royal London Orchestra ever could.

Oh yes, not runaway train, strange how I got that wrong. I guess the music reminds me of carpenters.
