  • this song reminds me of the bittersweet concept that everything that is created and exists for the most part must come to an end and that we are not here forever.

    ~I miss you mom.

  • Tears, every friggin time. John Carpenter made more powerful music than the Royal London Orchestra ever could.

  • Listening to this makes me want to believe there is a heaven.

  • Great song. Great movie. Good job John Carpenter, Jeff Bridges,Karen Allen and the rest of the cast.

  • @juancatfish1 well said.

  • i loved this song since i saw it for the first time back in 80s. it is truly a beatiful song.

  • I was shocked when I saw the trailer and saw John Carpenter's name listed as the director. It didn't seem like the kind of movie he would do. Then I watched it, and I was convinced he was capable of handling a movie like this. I just wish he could've done the same for MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN.

  • @FCWPM

I love carpenter, ghost of Mars was terrible though, but The Thing, Runaway train, Halloween, attack on precinct 13, Starman. masterpieces.

  • @AlltimeTrance He didn't do RUNAWAY TRAIN. But yes, everything else you listed as masterpieces are masterpieces. GHOSTS OF MARS isn't a very good movie. It probably would've been better had it not been a remake of ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13, but who knows.

  • oh man this is the one

  • This is some of the most beautiful theme music I've ever heard! I was really young when Starman first came out. I didn't first watch it till I was almost 10 years, I understood what it was about even that young and I loved it! I actually cried at the ending because I was sad that he had to leave but also happy that he didn't die. I like to rewind the end credits just so I can hear this beautiful music more than once.

  • did anyone else wanted to go with him at the end.

  • @mrbbsdp2627 Yeah. I remember as a kid and later a teenager wanting to go too. Just felt like where he was from was a much nicer place. Also adds to the film that they never give his home a name, they just say he is an alien. Makes the film oh so much better for it. Great film.

One of John Carpenters underrated gems.

  • Always a favorite movie of mine, I actually found this movie on blueray at the NEX and bought it. I remember when I was just a kid watching this movie and the song always entrapped me. The song portrays both life, love and loss. If I could ever choose a song as my farewell it would be this song.

  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!

  • The minute it starts I get goosepimples...

  • The Most Beautiful Song Ever. Love This Movie.
