@JesseReagan Sega was never a failure. It did have its downs for sure but they knew the players relatively well back then. Keep in mind Sonic Championship/ The Fighters was made in 1996. Some games back then weren't as captivating as they are now and vice versa. It's actually pretty fun if you play it!

@Junedude433 While I agree that this game is fun and all, JesseReagan is actually right for most of the part. The game is REALLY unbalanced. Some characters fair better than others. You must have determination to master a character that has many disadvantages. And Sonic the Fighters was overshadowed when it came out due to its limited release and the fact that there were better fighting games to play at the time like Tekken 2 and X-Men vs. Street Fighter.

@Poke2kirby Yep. That's true. Take G-mel from Sonic Advance 3 for example. When Sonic got all of the Chaos Emeralds, G-mel fused with them to become the true final boss and from there, Eggman got the finger again. Not to mention all versions of Eggman/Robotnik failed to make reliable robots. I'm not sure about the SatAM version though since I never watched it.

@CoolLuke1337 It might happen. While certain reviewers gave it a bad rep because "it's too easy", the game also gained a cult following. But then if that's the case, then Sega will have a hard choice whether to choose the American version or the original Japanese version in which this edited port is based off of.

@LieutenantLousyshot Maybe it's because of the fact that the first era you tackle in that game is the Genesis era where Metal Sonic is a predominant character so they had to tone down the difficulty much like the Death Egg Robot. Metal Sonic is also part of the Dreamcast era since he appeared in Sonic Adventure 1 as a cameo and Adventure 2 in two player mode but he wasn't a major character until Sonic Heroes. At least Metal Sonic is in Generations because he was absent for quite some time!

@GameDude2 i think he (or she) is trying to say that on the final stage of the game, (metal's stage if playing as another character) because you were playing as metal, eggman copied him, like with the other characters, amy for example. making metal look like a hero? so eggman wanted revenge on metal turning good so he copied him, to put it in a storyline point of view. :P

@starscream3326 Everything about this game is epic. This game was made and released in 1996 so it's like 15 years old. Well, it is nostalgic because I played it when I was young and played it back in 1999. Don't know about you but I wished they used the American version for the port on the US. Yes, it's on hard but I flew through this playthrough because Metal Sonic is a incredibly cheap boss character and he's easy to use.
