No problem! It's just that this is a quite touchy political issue in Austria. History, you know...

About quality: It was the first Austrian casting show and many people enjoyed it enormously. Yes, there was a lot of hype, but it was also fun to watch.

I like Niddl's voice very much and that's all that matters to me. After all, it's pop music, it doesn't have to be perfect.

I know I sound like a jerk here, but I think these casting shows have damaged music a bit.

They take "average" singers (every highschool and karaoke bar has singers this good).. who *look* very good. And then they tell the world that they are the best singers and true stars.

People's idea of what *real unique hard-to-find honest talent* is gets lowered. Expectations drop. Now the music industry is a bunch of models who can "sort-of" sing.

And real singers can't find work and give up.

You may be right, but on the other hand, looking back I remember bands like for instance Bay City Rollers, Quiet Riot and Venom that didn't actually represent state-of-the-art musical craftsmanship but kept me and a load of other people entertained. So I'm not sure if that much has changed, except for a different marketing scheme.

Still .. many people liking it does not make it good... (eg. McDonalds).. It just means the marketing people have done good jobs.

I still wonder why there are so few real vocal virtuosos coming out of Germany/Austria/Switzerland?
