Queen Frederica, was such an impressive woman, however she got active to much -much more than protocol in the political situation of the period she was crown.
Today more and more people remember and -admire- strangelly- how it was in that time.
There is an error here sweetheart - according to the official site of the King of Spain, Queen Frideriki of the Hellenes was born: April 18, 1914 in Blankenburg, Harz, Germany - and not in 1917.
@lostsplendour Evidently one of the two sites has an error on it. Both places are highly-reliable sources but oviously one must have a typo in it perhaps. Even the Greek site could be in error. Would be nice to dig some more to verify this again as I would truly like to confirm the correct date. If you find out let me know please. I will look on my side for other sources as well. Thank you for replying - most appreciated!
@RoyalSnowbird I have verified twice before answering to you and checked on Findagrave her grave at the Tatoi Royal Cemetery. Just to be sure. I send you the link via another message.
was her husband related to the present duke of edinburgh? i have great problems with european history. the music is super. fits the graphics perfectly.
@johneunson Thanks and yes, her first husband Paul and Philip were related. They were first cousins. Their fathers were brothers. But Frederica and Philip were also related, both are descendants of Victoria and Albert and Sophie, Philip's sister, married Georg Wilhem of Hanover, Frederica's brother.
@lostsplendour thank you. philip had 2 sisters, they are never mentioned in the uk. are they still alive? what did they look like? i dont remember ever hearing about them visiting.
@johneunson Actually he had 4 sisters, he was the youngest. They were all married into the German nobility. None of them are alive. You can see them all in Alice of Battenberg's video at 2:06.
@bambesis No, that was a mistake. I think that I added the word 'first' because I was thinking about the rest of the answer. Frederika had only one husband.
Beautiful music choice ! I think mother of Maria and Dmitri ( the cousins of Nichola s II ) was a Greek, died young. That´s why they were adopted by Ella and Sergei who hadn´t children of their own.
The fact that you "disabled ratings" is quite informative about her popularity!

@RoyalSnowbird I'm sorry but according to the official site of the Greek Royal Family and official biographies, she was born in 1917 and not in 1914.

A beautiful queen, full of charm and rigour, villified by her opponents and a living memory among her friends.

@lostsplendour - I say Old Boy! Are you referring to Frederika's "first husband"? She didn't have a second one - did she?
