I have several male friends in the military that are single parents and if they did what she did they would be court marshalled without question. Their is something else overlooked here as well. i completely understand what you are saying no caring parent would leave their child.but you must understand that when you join a military service you must be completely committed.she should have been more prepared for the birth of her child.if she was unable to bear the burden she should have filed for a hardship discharge.

Females fearing deployment purposely get pregnant or sabotage their family care plans to avoid that deployment. I am the father of the child, have told alexis numerous times that from pregnancy till deployment that I would watch the child, but bcuz she has beef wit how our relationship ended she has exempted me from the childs life. I am in the military and I been deployed three times. I believe a woman can deploy and be successful. I had many soldiers who have children and had to deploy. It sounds like she is trying to get out of going and her mother is in on it.
I guess you would have to look at the quality of the Soldier. It she is a good Soldier and it was an incident that could not have been avoided (which does happen), then maybe they could have granted her an extension to come up with a valid FCP. If after say 60 days nothing happens then chatper 5-8 paperwork should commence to process her out

@misstijera This is very true. If you have a child, that child should come first, so that's why if you are a single parent, the military would be a very tough place. You must have a very intact family care plan if in the event you were to be deployed. My biggest problem with a single parent being in the military would be the idea that the parent were to be killed during a tour, then who would take care of that child and how would that child deal with the loss of his/her parent.
It is funny how everyone is so quick to bash single mothers in the military but alot of people fail to realize for that one single mother who didnt deploy there are 100 more that have placed their children in the care of someone else hoping they get properly taken care of. First I would ask where is her command? The Unit Commander is responsible for ensuring each of thier Soldier have a valid Family Care Plan (FCP), if this is unable to happen then there is a chapter 5-8 Discharge- Lack of FCP.

I agree. I am a woman, and I have no issue with women in the military, but with situations like this... you can't just say I'm not going because of this or that. It's the reason why I have issues with women on battlefields and certain military positions.

My biggest problem with a single parent being in the military would be the idea that the parent were to be killed during a tour, then who would take care of that child and how would that child deal with the loss of his/her parent.

@zyruemusic- I dont know what planet you are from, but here in the US, you can have purple spots on your body and still go to jail as a parent if you dont send your child to school. The only exception to this is if your child is being homeschool and even then I believe you are required to take some kind of test. First I would ask where is her command? The Unit Commander is responsible for ensuring each of thier Soldier have a valid Family Care Plan (FCP), if this is unable to happen then there is a chapter 5-8 Discharge- Lack of FCP.

I agree. I am a woman, and I have no issue with women in the military, but with situations like this... you can't just say I'm not going because of this or that. It's the reason why I have issues with women on battlefields and certain military positions.
I read that a lot of women in the Navy get discharged because they get pregnant, making naval vessels prenancy centers! I blame the extream feminist movement! lol
