  • I heard about this on Coast to Coast and I couldn't beleive it.This is really scary and disturbing ,and the murder castle and what they found there is unbelievable.

  • This queen doing the narration is the worst!

  • Was H.H. Holmes the grandfather of John Holmes?

  • Damnit, those Jack The Ripper pictures get me every time :(

  • Excellent!

  • goddamn this was the shittiest narration i have ever seen on anything.

  • The female narrator is aweful and takes away from the quality of the presentation.

  • Interesting, but the talking was super fast, and the audio in places drowned out the words. But this is otherwise a very educational and well written piece. Thanks! A solid B.

  • Made scarier by the ginger kid who coldly reads the floor plans @ 3.40

  • Dead women can't say "No."

  • Holmes is a Legend!

  • Chicago still has a problem with serial killers.

  • Englewood is still well know for its random murder to this day. Although they are currently more associated with spending too much time having jungle sex in MOTELS.

  • Love this video, you did a magnificent job of it.

Will you be making more vids like this?

  • Talking to bloody fast, spoilt the whole documentary.

  • good job! Yeah i never heard of this guy either. Thanks for posting it.

  • leonardo di caprio's version of this story would be much better than tom cruise's.

  • Chicargo is still a shithole. Only fame they have is Oprah.lol

  • fuk you. your trailer park is shit too

  • wow this guys fucked

  • I'm 52 yrs. old & it's hard for me to believe that I've never heard of this guy before.

  • 2 film productions are in process of making this story into a movie. tom cruise' company cruise/wagner productions and leonardo di caprio's production company in which he plans to star in the film.........i wonder whos film would be better

  • Wow, very well done, guys!

  • 4:58 is that the song out of the old lord of the rings cartoon?

  • powjgfjkf

  • Good job!

  • Creepy ass motherfucker

  • hm they should make a modern movie about his "death hotel". it is very interesting that he was able to build a hotel with all these boobytraps in it and go undetected for so long.

  • read the description.... it clearly says that it was a history fair project. would a college have something like this? no.. its obviously for high school

  • Thank you for putting this up-most interesting.

  • ugh hung in the same month as my birthday :S

  • I think they did a nice job on this. Don't be so critical folks. It was very informative and they used a lot of great visuals. Nice work.

  • Not to good sorry but it could have been better

  • If you want to present something, at least make it sound exciting, cos you make it sound very boring, don't mean to offend, just to advice, as this is a very interesting story.

  • I am writing a song on this man

can anyone out there send me anything

on him WE would greatly thinkyou.

  • already been done. h h holmes the dysfunktional family

  • they speak progressively faster they mustve had a time limit.

    good vid though well done

  • beastly

  • I passed by the location of the hotel the other day, maybe I will post up some area photos of what is now very ugly.

  • Sin dudas que este tipo estaba ree loko... pero tbn hay que decir que era un genio.. las cosas que se le ocurrian...

  • ran the turbo charger for a spell towards the end of naration there girly. Sounded like they pointed at their watches and threw up the rushit sign. How can Red watch this and not want to have one last take to patch up those little flubs of rhythum? im glad to have learned more of HH HOLMES. Now i dont feel so alone in this worldsfair.

  • why do these amateur documentary makers all sound like raging queers?

  • this was a good documentry...except the narrators talk waaaay to fast. sounds like they drank alot of red bull. other then that its well done.

  • @monkaymelly22 He was probably so scared that he wanted to hurry up and finish reading it.

  • Ach ja der gute alte Holmes

  • i actually work right across the street from this place!!!!

  • The grounds are said to be heavily haunted .. animals do not walk past the property of their own volition but cross the street. Ghastly screams are heard etc.. investigate 'murder castle +holmes +haunted'

  • The narrators sounded like auctioneers.

  • must have wanted to keep it under 10 minutes.

  • balbuf how did you get the corpse photo's of the prostitues?

good video, Im a big fan of Herman Mudgett.

  • You're a "fan" of a bloody murderer? Pray to God that you or your loved ones never have to face what his poor victims did!

  • Good job, I assume you used Windows Movie Maker?

  • impressive. good information.

The Devil In the White City. A great non fiction novel written by Eric Larson. Check it out . i think you will really enjoy it

  • This was a good project.

It would've been better if you slowed your speech down, even if it wouldve taken two videos.

I understand that you had a time limit on the project though..

At least you got your point across.

    Otherwise, not bad..

  • you should read "devil in the white city" its the whole story of holmes and of the design of the world's fair. It's really good. written by alex haley.

  • nvr mind, thats malcolm x.... dunno why I got them mixed up. ral author is erik larson

  • very funny coincidence if you consider the title of one book and the subject of another.

  • The Devil in the White City was written by Erik Larsen...

  • yeah, I know, I had too read that and roots for school. I just got the authors mixed up. Haley wrote roots and the malcolm X biography. but yeah, I just typed it, and then I looked at the book and I was like whoops.

  • Ha ha No Prob! I was thinking Haley sounded familiar..duh. Honest mistake! I started reading Devil...because years prior I was going through stome stuff of my grandmothers and I found a ticket for the 1893 Columbian Expo. Now that I've read it, I cant get enough. Im going to drive to the city one day this fall and investigate all of the sights that one can still see!!

  • lay off the kid.

    it was a class project.

if you can't do better - leave the kids alone

  • good video but very very disturbing individual

  • Very good

  • the voice-over is infuriating. He should be narrating adverts for underpants.

  • It's been tampered with and sped up to either seem more impressive or fit a time limit. Either way it's really annoying.

  • most disturbing individual, ever.

  • nice work

  • The fey-lisping narration kills the power of this fine video. He sounds rather like the narrator in a John Waters film. Should re-dub it so it doesn't sound so "Queer Eye."

  • I think this documentary is very well done..

  • well done!

  • i meant for the presentation that these kids done!

  • They did excellent. I pass by 63rd and Wallace from time to time. And it so not what it once was. Nothing but crime and poverty now. This was Chicago's 1st serial killer. Good Job on the story.

  • we have to understand that the narrators are still young very young and maybe they were nervous. but yes they narrated too fast its like speed reading.

  • how could they be nervous reading a script? im 17 and i dont get nervous reading something at my house...

  • The narrators dont add to the drama of the story. They talk too fast, the delivery is dull and matter of fact, completely in contrast to the story. Also scanning down the photos and not stopping is annoying, learn to stop the rostrum shots. Not a bad effort, just needed more thought and would have done better in the comp

  • this is a pretty good video balbuf. i enjoyed it!

  • a tattoo of a serial killer...wow...and people dont recognize it...you are so clever..

sorry, lol...thats just the stupidest tattoo i could think..

lol- i just think of the poeple who would compliment you on that- bunch of death obsessed teens not bright enough to realize they are living out the suburban cliche ... wow....serial killer tattooo...how scary....makes you look really culture smart and cool....believe me ...lol

  • Read the book The Scarlet Mansion about Holmes.

  • So how did you guys do in the competition?

  • The only thing wrong with this video is that the narrators speak to quickly, speak more slowley and it would have been better.........

  • erm, great effort, good video, but there is LOADS of infomation missing and this just seems like a pretty 'normal' case, which, of course, it was not

  • Excellent! And if you want to read more about Holmes, read the book "Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. It talks about Holmes and also the construction of the World's Fair buildings and what happened at the Fair.

  • I uploaded filmmaker John Borowski's complete in-depth documentary on Holmes that is over an hour long. Watch that if you want a little more information on the story. This short documentary here is a good overview though. I enjoyed watching it. Thanks balbuf.

  • Well done! Ineresting and loaded with information. A+ Thanks for sharing.

  • The narrators were run through a processor that removes the spaces between the words - usually used in car commercials for all the legally required disclaimers. The actual writing isn't bad, but the amateurish narration really detracted from the story. That, and a stand-up being interrupted by an L train. If that happens...go ahead and shoot another fricken take people! Professional voice talent isn't that expensive.

  • We didn't use any processing, we just sped up the intro and conclusion to fit within the 10min time restriction for the competition. The main narration has no speed adjustments. This was school project so professional narration was not a priority or a necessity. We wanted to keep the 'L' interrupted shot because it drew attention to the tracks that were still in use from the time period, and the train passing matched the narration about the trains pretty closely. Thanks for watching!

  • The narrators talked way too fast, but it was good otherwise.

  • Thanks! The intro and conclusion had to be sped up to fit with the time restriction for the competition. And I believe youtube has a time restriction for uploads as well. We would have definitely preferred a slower narration. We even had to cut a lot of the script.

  • Very Good. I am currently reading The Devil in White City. Great Job! I am also from Chicago

  • great vid.

    kudos

  • i wish the castle was still around i would have loved a tour. even if it cost me my life

  • wow...i could only watch 1 minute of this ........the narrator sounds um.....unmanly

  • Woah so cool
