  • You are correct dreicemoney, the Persians and the Egyptians both believed in a one great deity. All throughout the bible the Israelites are making journeys to Egypt. God sent Joseph, Mary, and Jesus to Egypt. When there was famine in Israel, where did they go? Egypt Moses was born in Egypt. He became a high priest. Later they say he went up to a mountain top and received the commandments. I believe he just copied the laws of Ma'at and the negative confessions from the Pyramids.

  • @ibrahim1x .. who cares what the Quran says, if you are an intelligent human being you will already know that all religions are made up , there is absolutely no evidence you can provide to prove any religion is true.

  • @flow267 Ahahahahahahaha...Amendement 2012!

  • Akenaten was the first.

  • the Persians and Egyptians both experimented with monotheism before the Israelites.

  • It was NEVER idol worship. Some would never call Judeo-Christianity SKY worship. The statues were the embodiment of the Divine according to the devotees of these ancient religions. Why in the HELL would humans worship a damn statue that they made themselves ? THINK PEOPLE ! These statues were a representation of their Gods. And their Gods were just as real to them as the Monotheistic God of the Abrahamic Religions. If the ancients were idol worshippers then Christians are SKY worshippers !

  • too bad the idea of god didn't stay dead : P

  • Haven't any of these louts heard of Akenaten?

  • lol. at 1:31 it looks like he is holding a roach from a blunt.

    ... fuckin ancient pot heads.

  • hahahaha lol

  • I thought Ahura Mazda was the first monotheistic God.

  • Ahura Mazda was the god of Zoroastrianism but it was a duality, since Ahriman was the spirit of evil.

It is still highly unlikely that even the god of the OT was the first monotheism since superstition and worship appears even in isolation today, it is highly likely that ancient illiterate societies had singular figures and gods.

But as far as large organised religions go, it would have been the religion of moses that took the early lead.

  • You are absolutely correct. Though PBS and other networks try to get the truth out to the world, they are still somewhat hog-tied by the Abrahamic religions and their hostility toward historical truths. I think education networks try to take things one step at a time so they don't destabilize the already fragile mental states of the Abrahamic ones.

  • You're right

  • Not available outside the USA lame.

  • You must come to the land o satan!

  • The site says to come back today and you can watch the program online. I have gone there and all that is available is still just the video clip and nothing else. it's November 19 today -- what is the deal?

  • It's up now.

  • owsame

  • This is a most interesting discovery considering the book by Dan Brown which indicates that Jesus in-fact did have a wife and her name was Mary Madalene. Whether fact or fiction, it is something to be researched to its fullest to get the ultimate understanding of the life of Jesus!!!!

  • Dan brown writes fiction books about fiction books though.

  • This programing does not have anything to do with that fiction book. God's wife is actually idols that early Jews did worship. You missed great point in this TV show.

  • @skulivan

    Close skulivan, it's Mary Magdalene.

  • I wish I had a cable!!!

  • You don't need cable, NOVA is on PBS!

  • It's available online too, see "more info" for the link

  • Wow! looks pretty cool, maybe i will be able to watch it if i have time:)
