Many monotheist religions (not all, but many) have a lot of similiarities, believing in Bible, but not believing in some prophets. Inside of Christianity there are many sub-reigions with even smaller differences.
Main point is that they all believe in one God. So why would the same God make some groups people go to hell or heaven for choosing wrong religion from many?
I think that differences come from interpretation (made by simple people not by prophets) or from fear of other religions.

@legalace I have little will power. "Lead me not into tempation" as Jesus said. Don't even let me be tempted. For me to make good choices, I have to keep myself out of bad situations. For me to know what choices are right, I look to what God's standard is. If I depended on myself for knowing what's right and wrong, it would not be good. It would vary depending on how I felt.

Many monotheist religions (not all, but many) have a lot of similiarities, believing in Bible, but not believing in some prophets. Inside of Christianity there are many sub-reigions with even smaller differences.
Main point is that they all believe in one God. So why would the same God make some groups people go to hell or heaven for choosing wrong religion from many?
I think that differences come from interpretation (made by simple people not by prophets) or from fear of other religions.

What's funny is, that God was always real before Brian became a believer, now, some fans are believing in God because of Brian, which is good. Just remember though... Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, and no man gets to Heaven without Jesus... so what would happen if Brian decided to not believe? Would those fans fall away, also? This short life isn't worth it.

@legalace I have little will power. "Lead me not into tempation" as Jesus said. Don't even let me be tempted. For me to make good choices, I have to keep myself out of bad situations. For me to know what choices are right, I look to what God's standard is. If I depended on myself for knowing what's right and wrong, it would not be good. It would vary depending on how I felt.

Depending on the way you look at it... Don't harm the vessel could mean don't cut off an arm or leg. As for a tattoo, it doesn't harm the vessel because it doesn't cause damage, it just leaves ink underneath the skin.
And piercings can be mutilation, because they leave a scar... a scar stays forever. Especially if you gauge a piercing. Which makes your argument inferior and hypocritical.
If scars are damage to the vessel, I guess you shouldn't play outside and fall down: then you'll be damned!

You are distorting what God was trying to say in those passages, and using your theory is like saying it's okay to lie and steal but don't kill it's permanent. Sin is sin and that's the bottom line. God was upset when the people where marking themselves for pagan rituals and marking themselves for the dead. Not for simply marking themselves.
