Eh ?...who suggested it was iNDIE ?, all I'm sayin is that in general (of course there are exceptions) the alternative/iNDIE UK music scene always thinks its way ahead of anything the states is or has produced. Usually as a reaction to when their music is played or released in the states and then goes straight to the bogof bin.
I was at this show, it was the very first Warped Tour. Quicksand, Sick of it All, Civ and Orange 9mm played... and it was all downhill from there each year after.
Now the Warped Tour is a steaming pile of dogshit.
McDee: Ha ha! I did look like Vanilla Ice!! Ha ha! God, video doesn't allow us to hide any of our questionable looks. Freaking '90s. This whole tour was incredible.
the frist on is my ALL TIME favorite quicksand song...saw them for free at the university of syracuse ny with UB40(i think it was them) and a tribe called quest. one of the best shows i ever saw('94 maybe? damn i'm old)
If anyone cares, watch 4:18. I am the shaved head kid crowd surfing for about 20 seconds. This was 13 years ago! I went up again and got thrown over the rail and got nicely roughed up by the guards. They were really SCARED!..BTW, I was 17, give me a break.
Amazing band. Circa 95, I was totally into Jawbox, Garden Variety, Helmet, Shudder to Think, Guilt, Chavez, Mind Over Matter and these guys. Great times and great music that I'll always listen to.
Yes, great band as well along with Hum and Swervedriver, Sunny Day etc. The 90s was full of amazing bands, maybe the most innovative decade ever for rock.
you said it! you guys just mentioned five of my favorite bands...the early to mid 90s will never be repeated at least for me. i'm already nostalgic at 32.
Yeah, I just turned 33 a month ago. I feel the same way which is kinda weird/scary but such is life. Two bands that I really missed out on from the 90s until recently were Guilt as well as Compression. Good stuff.
Yes, I did live in NY during the early to mid 90s--Hempstead, Flushing, Bushwick--but I'm not a native. Great times tho and great music! I'm living in Cali now and no, I don't know anyone out this way into MOM and GV. I'm sure there's some crazy clan of them out there somewheres.
probably considered post-hardcore. sort of like fugazi and shift. i remember that they played the first warped tour back in 95. good lineup back then too.
sergio before the deftones.... hate it these guys split but turned out good for him

They paved the way...kind of like the blue print...I quite like how the UK iNDIE scene thinks the states is behind...people get what they seek
