Can't be metal per se because of the rhytm. Can't be symphonic because of the rock vocals. Even if Tarja is a soprano with classical background, there are many songs where her vocals are plain rock (which is great and unique btw).

This song can't be thrown in a certain category. It has metal and symhonic instruments, a voice singing rock with a classical technique.. all that matters is whether we like it or not.
