  • wait. so, uriel here is bald, in oblivion he has long hair

  • is that ocato next to him

  • Is this the same guy who played Jerec in Jedi Knight?

  • Please Daggerfall was great.. for its time. Comparing it to the newer games is like comparing MW3 to Doom. = Both are where awesome when they came out. My father used to school young tards by saying "Kid I've got ties older than you". I feel pride that I can say "Kid, I've played Video Games older than you". If you don't understand playing a Computer game without having to create and load a "Boot Disk", your point on it is Null. Sorry

  • So is this guy supposed to be Uriel Septum?

  • @Berserker754 Uriel Septim VII, the same Uriel as in Arena and Oblivion.

  • I always thought that they were roasting a marshmallow when I played this as a kid..

  • Wow ! This intro look even more realistic than the Skyrim's trailer !!! They look just like the real people !

  • If you are the emperor´s friend, why the hell do you start the game in a dungeon and as poor as a beggar? Is that explained after this video?

  • @rogerpenna You start the game in a dungeon because your ship sinks off the coast of daggerall. you aren't a beggar

  • @somnus71

thanks, in other words, you start in rags because of the sinking.

  • anyone having trouble using dosbox google "daggerfall XP installer" its much easier than using DOSbox

  • What is with Uriel and his constant need for doors to Oblivion to be shut?

  • @Petrivolve because he wasn't born in a barn

  • @Petrivolve Play the game, not about oblivion :P

  • @HBsongwriter Oh I have played the game and I'm fully aware if that. But he still said something about closing a door to Oblivion. Actually, he says "marble drawers (At least I think it's drawers?)" What the fuck he means by that, I have no idea.

  • @Petrivolve He said Marble jaws.

  • @TheStarwarssuperfan That.. Makes a lot more sense.

  • @Petrivolve Yeah, he's roasting a marshmellow...guess he's bound to say weird stuff

  • @HBsongwriter Yeah, we all know those marshmallows are loaded with Skooma.

  • his torch flame is all weird like!

  • "Excuse the gloom... but none may know that we are actually filming in someone's living room with the curtains drawn"

  • I want this game so bad. BUT DAMNIT FICK DOSBOX!

  • @MYlittlePWNAGE1 I downloaded a fully working version for my laptop(win7). Clicked install and went to play 30 seconds after. Look for it. The dosbox is already configured i guess.

  • @rundownaxe Thanks but I dont have a laptop and I installed the regular one from Bethesdas website but it said I had to install DOSBOX

  • @MYlittlePWNAGE1 You can play this on any computer. What i meant is that there is a download (not from bethesda) that is patched and configured. All you have to do is run the .exe then click the shortcut to play the game. You don't have to download dosbox it is included. Google search it and you will find.

  • @MYlittlePWNAGE1 Okay I found .exe, so what do I do next,

Note that I did not so anything with the website yet

  • When I first saw the intro, I thought it was going to be ghetto.. But it was epic!!!

  • sadly the septims are all gone with martin being the last in the bloodline :(

  • @squall600 well, unless Martin's tool is broken, he can make some more Septims :D

  • @smoothMousePad thats a posibility but i highly doubt it cause martin was a monk through out his whole life without the thought of sex.

  • all the Elder Scrolls games are awesome, including Oblivion!

  • "...and close the marble drawers of Oblivion" oh shit even Uriel Septum VII saw Oblivion as a threat xD

  • @223johnd

Its the same emperor as in oblivion.

  • @223johnd Drawers? I thought he said jaws. :P

  • LYSANDER!?

  • its awsome but its creepy because the dude with the beard has tiny hands

  • Who is this guy? He is fcking awesome

  • @Simonomon2 Uriel Septim and if I'm not mistken, the same one from Oblivion.

  • @WoWplaya01 how about the actor? what's his name? this is an amazing performance

  • @Simonomon2 Uriel Septim VII. Badass emperor. In Daggerfall he looks like Captain Picard and in Oblivion he is voiced by Captain Picard.

  • @ResurrectedTemplar

how funny that Septim means exactly SEVEN, and the seventh Uriel Septim was the last emperor (well, real one, since his son didnt really take the throne)

  • Was that Anton LaVey?

  • Great game!

  • If there's a way to find out who these actors are I'd really want to know. I thought it was going to be easy since Daggerfall has an entry on IMDb, but the actors weren't listed.

  • Daggerfall - The first and last great TES game.

  • @Psydecar Last? You're saying morrowind and oblivion weren't good? Even a little bit?

    LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @sofnsable Morrowind was alright, but not GREAT. Oblivion pretty much sucked, and it looks like Skyrim is going to be even worse, catering to the console crowd.

  • @Psydecar SO your saying it only sucked on the consoles ?

  • @sofnsable No, I'm saying it sucks because it was dumbed down to appeal to console gamers. Oblivion barely even qualifies as an RPG.

  • @Psydecar I see.

  • @Psydecar

Dude you don't even know what the hell your talking about. Give me three good reasons why oblivion wouldn't be considered an rpg. I hate when people talk about pc gamers being better than console gamers and vice versa. Games come out on both for a reason: so you get to pick! One isn't necessarily better than the other.

  • @Zandarlod When it comes to RPGs, computers ARE better. I didn't say Oblivion wasn't an RPG (Oblivion fans really suck at reading comprehension), just that it barely is (it's about half). It's more or less an action game with RPG elements. Even the RPG elements are crap. The level scaling system is garbage, and makes exploration boring, and randomized dungeon loot sucks. The reduction in the number of skills is hardly an improvement. All the NPCs are pretty much the same. Classes don't matter.

  • @Psydecar

I really don't see what you're talking about. Sure the voices for the npcs can get old but it has completely customizable characters, a huge selection of weapons and armor to choose from the go up in level as you do, it has a huge world to explore, tons of dungeons, and the game never ends. It has a main quest but there are so many sidequests and extra stuff to do you could play for years and still have things to do. Maybe you don't like the game and I can totally accept that

  • @Zandarlod Voices don't bother me. It's just a poorly made RPG. "Game never ends" - Not really a good thing, as it makes the main quest unimportant. The combat isn't RPG combat. The sidequests and dungeons are boring, and not worth playing for "years". Daggerfall's dungeons could get repetitive as well, but it felt bigger. The things you mentioned are done in MMOs, none of which are worth playing. "go up in level as you do..." - Lame. Anyway, I don't want to derail this any further.

  • @Psydecar I'm making some assumptions, but I respect and appreciate your opinion. I do feel your statement that a game not having an "end" makes the main quest unimportant to be a rather glib assessment though... In life most things are only as important to an individual as they care to make them. That said, I can appreciate the call to not make a game end with the conclusion of any specific story arc, main included.

I am a game designer BTW, is that relevant?

    Not particularly, just sharing...

  • @nazaxprime It just feels like the whole "guilds" thing is made to be more important. I think that it's alright to have sidequests that have little to do with the main story, but the game doesn't need to go on after the plot-related quest has ended, because it makes said quest feel like another insignificant sidequest. Yes, it's an opinion, but I've seen similar complaints (that the game just feels like a series of sidequests) elsewhere. I'll give that site a look, thanks.

  • @Psydecar The Elder Scrolls a sandbox game, the sidequests are important to give more detail to the game. Of course the later games made it all fell more handwritten since some things in the this one are randomly generated but nonetheless it needs those little details.

  • @MisterAAnderson I already mentioned that I have nothing against sidequests. I prefer computer RPGs because you get to play however you want instead of having to follow a linear path, and sidequests add to the freedom of choice, but the main quest shouldn't feel like one. Oblivion felt like a single-player MMO.

  • @Psydecar Well, actually there were some choices in Oblivion, I don't know where are you getting that MMO feel, yes you do eventually get your level up for using your skills but it doesn't fell like "kill 20 monsters to get this item", at least to me. Daggerfall was made in 1996 so give it a break. They didn't have all they have now to develop an advanced RPG with thousand of choices and a developed dialogue system or anything like that, because they didn't have the means to get this working.

  • @MisterAAnderson I'm not talking about Daggerfall. I love Daggerfall, and I quite like Morrowind as well. My beef is with Oblivion (and honestly the storyline thing is the least of the games problems and could be ignored if it did well in other aspects). I know that there are choices in Oblivion, and I never said otherwise. Maybe my post wasn't clear. It feels like an MMO because it never feels like you're accomplishing anything.

  • @Psydecar Works for me, still can't get what's wrong with Oblivion. The main story isn't perfect, but it has it's moments of joy. I always get a sense of accomplishment when I do something in the game, also there are lots of people who love MMO's and they surely get a sense of accomplishment when leveling or joining a guild.

  • @Psydecar

But it's still definitely an rpg with rpg elements

  • @sofnsable Having had multiple copies of both versions, in comparison, yes...

  • @Psydecar I cant wait for technology to make "consoles" not only obsolete, but extinct. I have said as much on gameindustry biz

Speaking of which, you sound well opinionated, and should maybe check that site out, as your opinion would have much more of an impact there than here.

  • @Psydecar wtf are you talking about. Morrowind was a million times better than this daggerfall crap. I have a character with mostly 100's in stats and I finished the daedric quest of meridia and suddenly my ring of khajit broke! It turns out that you can't repair magical items because of a patch! Either the game is buggy as hell or you can't repair magical items. Also dungeons are so big that you frequently can't find your objective. Morrowind was amazing.

  • @ihateflags1 No, Daggerfall is way better than Morrowind ass

Morrowind is ass game, worse than SKyrim

    and Daggerfall killed them both

  • @lordzilu1584 If you can deal with the bugs and frustration, then Daggerfall is a better game. If you can't, then Morrowind is a better game for you then. I personally prefer Morrowind. More refined.

  • @ihateflags1 Yeah, you can't repair magical items. It's called 'balance'. And about dungeons - that's why the first thing you should buy is "Recall" spell. Also, automap.

  • This intro laid such a perfect atmospheric foudation to the game.

It makes you feel that what you're setting out to do really matters, instead of just being put out into the world for a random yet linear quest of self discovery.

Yes, it's been years since I've played the game, but I have never forgotten these words and I doubt I ever will.

    Perfect. Just perfect...

That said, I anxiously look forward to playing Skyrim.

No more hacking at little dragonlings... Time to face the real deal!

  • @crapmunky99 Totally. I played Daggerfall a year ago, and I love how it feels so dark, mysterious and kind of uneasy compared to Oblivion, in particular.

  • I swear the emperor in this video is Dean Norris. They look too identical.

  • daggerfall....completely different universum then the one of the next games....

  • Their shins would take a beating... from bumping into things all the time.

  • I ask this as your emperor...

    Andz yo friendz.

  • its too bad urial septim doesnt talk like this in oblivion

  • what race is the guy on the right? a breton? he didnt look like an imperial.

  • @ButtigiegStudios That's the battlemage I think. And if I know my TES history right, after Jagar Tharn, Ocato became the battlemage and he's a high elf.

  • @ButtigiegStudios It's Chancellor Ocato, he was retconned into an Altmer in Oblivion.

  • The actor seems familiar. And he is a very good actor. I bet they payed him quite a bit to do this. I love this game though. cant get it to work on my PC though.

  • @levenoth download daggerfallsetup than. Does all the work for you if you already have dosbox installed.

  • It never....-glare- ARRIVED....

  • @MartinSeptimII lol i know

  • Wow, the graphics are so good the people look exactly like real life! ;)

  • @Sceptorful are you sarcastic? because i thought this was real acting

  • Comment removed

  • "Excuse the gloom... but we have to make this as creepy as possible..."

  • I don't remember Ocato having a goatee

  • @speedtypermananswer Maybe he shaved.

  • @speedtypermananswer I dont remember him being human lol

  • wait is the bald guy uriel septim?

  • This surprisingly good acting

  • Close the Marble doors of oblivion, in oblivion he says close shut the doors of oblivion

  • @TombRaiderQuests No, he sais 'Close shut the JAWS of oblivion'

  • @Freestyleforcerer he says ''close the marble jaws of oblivion'' not ''close shut the jaws of oblivion''

  • @TombRaiderQuests I was talking about what he said in The Elders Scrolls 4: Oblivion, not about this game.

  • @TombRaiderQuests No, you are wrong. In TES IV: Oblivion he sais: "Find him and close shut the jaws of Oblivion.

  • @Freestyleforcerer thats wat i sed, you sed the jaws of oblivion in daggerfell which is wat i was onna bout

  • @TombRaiderQuests Dude, I quote from you: "in oblivion he says close shut the doors of oblivion"

I simply stated that that's wrong. You misread it.

  • @Freestyleforcerer thats what I ment, I sed doors by accident,

  • @Freestyleforcerer Actually, there's apparently a longer version of his final speech in Oblivion, where he does say "marble jaws".

  • i love tes, but is uriel using a wig in Oblivion?

  • This emperor is pretty darn awesome :)

He's got a lot of integrity to play the part so earnestly

  • This video is filled with epic.

  • Oh wow...this is where is all started for me. :)

First daggerfall, then went online with Ultima Online, then morrowind, and oblivion.

I tell you what, if they merged UO online gameplay with Elder Scroll stories we'll have the greatest game of all time.

  • didnt Uriel septim have long gray beard and grey hair in Arena?

  • close shut the marble drawers? lol, sounds odd after hearing oblivions "close shut the jaws of oblivion"

  • 1:40 is the flame moving backwords?

  • okay just to set the record straight akatosh made the pact to keep nirn safe from the other realms such as the madhouse aka shivering isles an the ash feilds of mehrune dagon just because mehrune was defeated doesnt mean that other daedra lik molag bal, malacath, or juggalag might try some shit in the next one expecialy with morrowind an other provinces on the revolt

  • It seems like Daggerfall is continuation of Arena.

  • You just can't beat live actors for a video game. I remeber playing Myst, with the creepy actors making the puzzle solving all the more intriguing. Any other games out there (besides the obvious interactive movies) that featured live actors??

  • pause on 0:00. lol

  • Why can't I ever view this when I play it on DosBOX?

  • @MrFloodian Set you conf file to play in DDraw rather than Surface

  • Yeah, in DF, Uriel asks the Eternal Champion from Arena, to complete this task. In Morrowind, he knows you are the Neravarine (Reincarnation of Nerevar, see UESP.net), and in Oblivion, he sees that you will save the world and try to restore Martin to the throne. Supposedly, the Septims are part dragon, so they can see things normal mortals can't.

  • @jacobjedi2 They are part dragon???does this mean some one down the line had to uhh well you know...F.U.C.K. A DRAGON!!!!!!!!!....just wondering

  • @RTard48JRod Since the Emperors and Empresses have been bound to the Amulet of Kings, they are considered to be part dragon. The myth is that Akatosh gave St. Alessia some of his own blood as a sign of their bound blood, thus the Amulet was born. Akatosh promised that as long as her descendants wore the Amulet, that he will hold shut the jaws of Oblivion. The Septims were Alessia's descendants, and until Uriel was killed, Oblivion was closed to Nirn. (Continued on the next post)

  • @RTard48JRod See, it wasn't ONLY the Amulet that held it closed. The Dragonfires that were lit by every Emperor, were, for the first time in Tamriel's history, doused, when Uriel VII was killed. [SPOILER WARNING] When Martin went to the Temple of the One at the end of TES4, he didn't light the Dragonfires. Why? Because when he shattered the Amulet, Akatosh's spirit temporarily bound with him, making him a dragon, the embodiment of Akatosh himself. (Continued on the next post)

  • @RTard48JRod Akatosh helped Martin to banish Mehrunes Dagon back to Oblivion for eternity. After this, the Amulet was not needed again, because Mehrunes Dagon could never invade again. [Another SPOILER WARNING] When Titus Mede became Emperor, it was a new revolution. He didn't need the Amulet, but as far as we know, he wore the Red Dragon Crown. Like Baurus says though, it doesn't have power, only the Amulet does. Sorry for my little history lesson, if you want to know more, check UESP.net

  • @jacobjedi2 tHANKS,VERY COOL..I!!!!!!!!hmm do u play any MMOs???Im all Addicted to Allods Online, and if you are LOTR fan LOTR ONLINE is going free in nov!!!!!look it up..

  • @RTard48JRod No problem. :) I play RuneScape, and I am a LOTR fan. I was going to try the trial for LOTR Online, but it took too long, and when I tried to install it, it said that the file was corrupted. I'll look into it whenever it becomes free. Thanks for that info. :)

  • @jacobjedi2 However there is a big hole on this theory that Dagon cannot come back again. Dagon attack the city of Murnhold in the name of Turala during the first era, but Almalexia and Sotha Sil banished him back possibly in the similar matter as Martin did, by killing him in mundus. Daedra princes's cannot be killed, but just like their artifact, once destroyed in mundus they cant return in many years to mundus, Dagon cannot come back for atleast 2 eras worth of time.

  • This is the only game I know of where starting a life in your new surroundings must be done before you can even wink at the main storyline.

  • look at the hunchmens fire looks kida strange

  • that guy is overactin big time

  • Daggerfall might've made a great movie if they did it right. It seems almost as if they were planning to from the quality of this video.

Great intro to an even greater game.

RIP age of quality, hello age of the whoring GRAFIK.

  • @jackoneill45

You gota admit that bolivion has some great gameplay and story.

  • @jackoneill45 check out command and conquer and red alert series if you want to see more real time cut scenes.

  • @jackoneill45 I think minecraft is a perfect exception to your rule.

  • @chiffmonkey I believe so, as well. I've never played it but from what I've seen it looks very interesting.

  • @jackoneill45 Randomly generated open world survival/creation game. Creation being the reason I got Morrowind in the first place, the mod tools :D

  • @jackoneill45 4EVER GRAPHON

  • How old is this guy in Oblivion ? 80 years-old, at least ? Because the guy in the vid looks like he's in the later 40s, early 50s, and Oblivion takes place around 30 years after Daggerfall.

  • @Quartrez (Yes, I reply to myself) Actually, it looks more like he's in the 50s-60s

  • And close the marble jaws of oblivion?

  • I wonder how Emperor Uriel grew her hair back for Oblivion.

  • Golemoid, go and play your next generation popamole Wii piece a shit console faggottry.

  • I love how Ocato lights the torch with a spell.

    Badass.

  • @Pilaf1984 I thought ocato was a high elf... or maybe that just oblivion being non linear

  • dont see enough of these live action intros/movies in video games anymore. The resident evil one was cool, and I'm glad the C&C games keep on with it.

  • more realistic than oblivion what the hell. the game graphics are worse lol

  • facepalm

  • Yay I'm downloading Daggerfall right now. :)

  • yeeesss

  • Uriel Septim uses hair restoration spells.

  • it drains his age by 20 years

    i gotta get that potion!

  • This guy is rather looks like Haskill then Uriel septim O_o

  • Wonder if this guy is still alive - Bethsoft shoulda used him for the emperor in Oblivion and saved a bundle.

  • Then they could have used that money to get some more voice actors so npc's wouldn't converse with themselves so often... I still love the game though.

  • @yutzwagon2 Maybe they could have gotten the voice actor for Morrowind's Dunmer back, since they were pretty out of placed with their new Bosmer style vocal pitch.

  • They got him back for Shivering Isles, he's the voice for Sheogorath's manservant.

  • @yutzwagon2

No way! I haven't played Shivering Isles, but this gives me a damned good reason to.

Do you know where I could find the name of the voice actor for the Dunmer and Uriel Septim? (Not Patrick Stewart's Septim, the Daggerfall one)

  • IMDB says that the male Dunmer is one "Jeff Baker." I couldn't find anything on Septim, but you could try the UESPwiki.

  • I downloaded the free version of this game off of the Elder Scrolls website, but I don't see this cutscene! It just goes to the menu, and after I make my character, it just jumps right to the game. Anyone else have this problem?

  • close shut the marble jaws of oblivion is in oblivion too at the start

  • close the Marble draws of Oblivion.

  • "Marble jaws of Oblivion"?

  • @legoboy227 Original quote.

  • @legoboy227 Nvm...he said draws lmao, I just noticed.

  • Pretty good acting for a videogame. this clip is worthy of a hollywood movie. Is this a hollywood actor?

  • Excuse the gloom, my cataracts are playing up again.

  • @4543563

    Lol XD.

  • Why the hell is Ocato in TES4 a Dunmer??

    He's clearly an Imperial here...

  • Huh? This is Uriel Septim, the same emporer who dies at the start of Oblivion

  • Ocato is the other guy

  • He's an Altmer in TES IV, not a Dunmer.

  • doesn't matter, still doesn't make sense

  • It also doesn't make sense why Uriel Septim VII is bald in Daggerfall and has hair in Oblivion. :P

  • new fashion? nah anyways lore in oblivion is quite careless

  • It's not stated anywhere in the vid that he's Ocato

  • Thanks to Bethsoft who can't even respect the lore of their own game series.

  • The way he lights the torch is cool.

  • I still get shivers watching this. They don't make fantasy like they used to, sigh....

  • They should remake the first 2 elderscroll games.
