I was looking at a video of him from 1972, and he was very nearly bald on top, and seemed happy enough for the world to see him that way: no hat , no hair piece.

But later he must have become self-concious about it, or else was advised by his PR people to wear one, because every so often after that, he would have a full head of hair for interviews.

And always, those mad wigs for stage roles.

I agree absolutely - his goodness shines through. What a wonderful gift he was to the world - not only for his amazingly beautiful voice but for his other fine qualities also. Did he ever realise just how much he was loved, I wonder?. I doubt it. We only have to read the comments on sites featuring him to fully appreciate the joy he brought to our world and what an inspiration he was to people. A beautiful voice and a beautiful spirit - a rare and wonderful man indeed!
