  • Who cares if she wasn't there..

From what I've read about her.. she cared more for the audience's reaction to her work.. not her peers. She was great and she knew it!

  • el papá de angelina! jajajaa

  • Meryl´s first oscar nomination for best actress

  • was Bob too busy to present that year? Damn De Niro.

  • she has won this four times im having a hard time figruing out which is which

  • The one and only year the two most nominated actresses in the history of the Academy Awards were competing to each other. Hepburn at the end of her great career; and Streep very young and already in her third nomination (and one previous Oscar win)

  • Meryl Streep is always nominated

  • Katharine Hepburn is definitely one of the best, with Bette Davis, jane Fonda, Sissy Spacek, Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, and Susan Sarandon.

  • Talk about tough competition that year.

  • On Golden Pond is a wonderful movie that make's one really think about life.

  • and I still send my love, deceased and all....she was an AMAZING actress, beyond words, beyond any talent that any actor/actress could aspire to be. Yes, we have great actors today, but few compare to her true talent. Then again, movies aren't up close and personal much anymore, they are riddled with tricks and treats, greenscreens, etc...the old movies were about people plain and simple. God love Katharine

  • Um this is about Katharine Hepburn NOT Angelina Jolie people. She only gets talked about because of her relationship with Brad Pitt anyway.

  • @Tigerlily21 jon voight is angelina's father

  • john realy loves and has always loved the art of the actor, i just hope he gets to receive some more great roles.

  • You most def can see where Angelina gets her looks from...

  • No wonder Angelina is as beautiful as she is lol

  • Wow. You can really see Angelina Jolie in him.

  • Jon Voight is so full of himself.

  • @mjames430 ON HER DEATH BED, you are ridiculous! She didnt die until 22 years after this! That is a DUMB thing for you to say, think before you speak otherwise you look really unintelligent.

  • @jerm1810 I agree with you. Calling Hepburn an old bat means this guy knows nothing about movies and has no respect for greatness. It is also a known fact that Katherine Hepburn never attended any oscars even though she was nominated 12 times. Her only appearance in an oscar was to present a special award for one of her friends.

  • @mjames430 Go wash your mouth with soap, little man. She died more than 20 years later. She had class, a strong character, and never attended ceremonies, judging them to be the circus they frequently were. Not only are you an ignorant little creature, you are disrespectful towards a great lady, a great actress, and a record 4-time Best Actress winner. Not even Meryl Streep will match that.

  • @mjames430 mjames U ignorant fool....get your facts together before YOU come here and speak out of turn!!!!

  • Panache' when Jon Voight dispensed with the cards and accepted the award on Hepburn's behalf. Class act!

  • @akirakira94 I TOTALLY AGREE!!!

  • I saw Jon Voight give an antiwar speech at a small community college in California back in 1973. He went on for hours and hours and he was such a boor.

He was so full of himself and now is such a pro war spartan/nazi. He personally makes me puke.

  • 4 OSCARS THAT'S A RECORD FOR ACTING

  • at 1:34 Jon Voight was sooooo pissed of he was hoping for Diane Keaton

  • susan sarandon and meryl streep look the same today!

  • @flix2view

It's called plastic surgery and a wonderful makeup job.

  • I just love that she never showed up to accept any of her Oscars!

  • and marsha masons oscar goes to .........katharine hepburn. love hepburn but mason deserved this one.

  • Someone below commented that Katharine was Pompous, arrogant, whatever for not being there. It's really the opposite of that. She new that as actors, they make a hell of alot of money, fame, etc...It was her opinion that actors who vote and award actors such things is the pompous that you speak of. She was a very private woman, very NON-ARROGANT and just didn't feel that she had to be there. If anyone was not pompous or arrogant, it was her!

  • @ChevyfunSS Plus she was working on Bdway that night in The West Side Waltz.

  • OVERRATED!!!!!!

  • nice speech by voight. hes like "fuck the cards im saying my own bit"

  • Diane Keaton is gorgeous here

  • The Great Kate won 4 Oscars, but none of them were for her greatest performances. Her win for 1967's "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" is probably the weakest acting award in the Academy Awards' history. Her non Oscar winning performance in 1962's "Long Day's Journey Into Night" is one of the greatest ever filmed. That's the way the Oscar crumbles.

  • now I hear where she gets her way of speaking (the sound of it).

  • It's like watching a male Angelina Jolie. Someone looks like Daddy!

  • agreed that bullshit Katherine didn't attend. Yes, she deserved but she should have been there so pompous of her not to attend. It's her loss though. She could have had a nice team especially w/ ohter nominees Streep, Sarandon, etc.

I agree that Jon Voight looks hot.

  • @thadxxx IDIOT SHE WAS DOING A BROADWAY PLAY!!! The reason she never went to the Oscars when she was nominated...because she was afraid to lose!!! The Academy Loved Katharine.

  • He might have been "hot" as a youngster, but that in no way compares to the incredible beauty of the mature man he is today. True beauty is found only in the soul.

  • why she never was there to accept her awards? was her too up her own ass and proud to receive them or what ??? too important miss hepburn ?

  • Hepburn deserved to win the Oscar only for Alice Adams in 1935 (she lost to Bette Davis for Dangerous) and for The Lion in Winter in 1968. Her wins in 1967 and in 1981 should have gone to Faye Dunaway for Bonnie and Clyde and Meryl Streep for The French Lieutenant's Woman respectively.

  • @aldodanilo She deserved for "Long Day's Journey Into Night", in 1962, too.

  • @aldodanilo In 1967, who deserved was Ane Bancroft, for "The Graduate".

  • Diane Keaton looks like she just got out of the shower...

  • Diane Keaton gets my vote for that train station scene alone in Reds!

  • well said at the end there Jon Voight! And it seemed to come straight from him instead of a teleprompter.

Oh and Katharine Hepburn admitted that the reason she never came when she was nominated was because she was afraid of losing in public. She wasn't trying to act so above it and diss the Oscars the way some of these actors did.

  • he's sooooo gorgeous!!!!! omg

  • Mr. Voight's daughter looks just like him...

  • this was such a shock result at the time that even the director had no idea what shot to cut to !! Classic example of older academy voters being unable to chose between two clear front runners - Streep and Keaton - so opting for a compromise choice.

  • Marsha Mason deserved it. She was long overdo and she gave an amazing performance in Only when I laugh. Meryl was in her sophie´s choice look at the academy.

  • Bow your heads small bitches!!!......The Great Kate wins her fourth Academy Award for Best Actress at age 75 in 1982. And yes, what an extremely impressive category and group of actresses....all just budding at the time...still no match for the magnificant Ms. Katherine Hepburn...yet we all knew their time would also come! Kudos to Ms. Streep, Ms. Keaton and Ms. Sarandon!

  • That's an incredible list of nominees.

  • og my god, not her again. i love her, she is great actress, but come on! meryl streep for example desrves way more than her 4 OSCARS! i think that she won those 4 only cuz she was hot, and that helped her.

  • EVERYONE thought....Meryl Streep was gonna win......I knew Kate was going to Win....IT was a beautiful performance...and touching.

  • Katharine Hepburn won four Oscars, but none of them were for her best performances. Susan Sarandon should have been this year's winner.

  • @jckfmsincty totally agree. sarandon was in another league this year, especially under malle's directorial hand.

  • Comment removed

  • omg angelina looks like jon here!

  • if his lips were bigger, the resemblance between angelina and him would be disturbing.

  • susan sarandon was fantastic in atlantic city!

  • Sorry, but Hepburn did NOT deserve this.

  • This was what Jon Voight looked like the day before Anaconda was released. Then he aged about 40 years over night.

  • @dovestones Screw Jon Voight, he has become to damn political with his ugly ass! I lost a lot of respect for him when he called Pres. Obama a communist dictator socialist. I mean regardless of who you are for, stay out of politics as an actor.

  • So well deserved!

  • omg that applause :D everyone was in awe of her

  • meryl streep is alot better then her

  • @BitchErica1

she is the best women actress alive meryl

  • @BitchProstitutionWhoreErica1 Katherine is the greatest actress of all time

  • Streep hadn't done many foreign-tongue roles at this point. Isn't French Lieutenant her first "accented" performance on screen? Other than the TV miniseries Holocaust, I don't think she had any notable accented roles yet. I think her loss was more that people weren't entirely enthused with the performance. Hepburn was an icon by 1982. Plus, she deserved it.

  • did jon just get out of the shower...a towel around his neck?

  • Wow, Susan Sarandon is sitting with Richard Gere!

  • THEY got it right..there was such a big backlash to Streep's foriegn speaking roles...and no support for Keaton...They got it so right....

  • omg he was sooo hot, when he was young!!! :)

  • @MetteXmoebjerg YES HE WAS! GORGEOUS!

  • It was fashion highlight of Diane Keaton's Oscar history.

  • It was Diane Keaton's highlight when it comes to fashion on the Oscars!

  • Angelina Jolie looks so much like her father Jon Voight it's spooky!

  • love Hepburn, she was great in Golden Pond and Lion in Winter

  • love hepburn but mason deserved it. oh well.....

  • Comment removed

  • I think Katherine perfectly deserved that 4th Oscar

  • @CalifoniaGirl Yes and also the third one. However not the first one and the second one.

  • @CalifoniaGirl You are so right!

  • God I see the resemblance to Angelina so much here.

  • Katharine Hepburn deserved all four of her Oscars, especially this one for On Golden Pond. It was gratitude, strength, and that New England wit of hers that she brought to Ethel Thayer, and where would we be without "Don't be such an old poop!"

  • THEY GOT IT RIGHT THAT YEAR!!! Katharine Hepburn was great.....Great Kate.

  • @UFOSPACE1999 They certainly did. I think she deserved her 4 Oscars, I don't care what people say. Maybe instead of Morning Glory, they shoud have given it to her for Long day's journey, but still Morning Glory was great movie and she gave a very fine performance.

  • She deserved it.

  • diane keaton should've won, if not her then sarandon. AMAZING work. and marilia pera should've at least been nominated for pixote...

  • Keaton should have won

  • @BitchErica1 yeah right Hepburn was better you dumb bitch

  • an undeserved 4th oscar for katherine hepburn.

  • Finally! Been looking forward to this vid...

  • Amazing performance

  • Meryl Streep looks stunning here, like a true movie star.

  • Oh wow, i almost didn't recognize him...

  • Streep and Keaton looked divine!
