Because it takes like 2+ years just to get one sweep shape down perfectly unless you play 10+ hours everyday.

If he's got grey hair and can only do one shape, then yeah bash him. Until then... you can't.

@xD0NKEYx Thats why people can play any kind of sweep after just a few years of playing...It doesn't take 2 or more years for just one. If it did, people wouldn't be able to play songs from bands that do alot of sweeping. I haven't managed to do one, but I've only been practicing a short time. But every single lesson I've read says it's one of those things that's hard to learn, but once you start getting it right, it becomes easy. If you spend 2 years on one, that's kind of sad...

2 years is what it means to do perfection. Clearly you've not reached this stage yet. If you can sit down and NEVER fuck it up, then you've done your job.

If you're playing it live and fudge up one *single* note, you haven't practiced enough.

Now tell me, sir, do you even play live? Do you use intensive sweeps (covering all ranges, not just one single major/minor shape, but all of them)? Have you ever fucked up? Cause if you have, you need more practice time for sure.

@xD0NKEYx What I'm getting at is that 2 years to be able to do one sweep is just highly unlikely. Sure, I can't do it, but I haven't practiced it much. There's no way that it really takes 2 years to do a single sweep right. There are people who can learn a Nechrophagist or Wintersun song and play it perfectly every single time in only a week... And something like this, with like two different sweeps: Do you really think it took 4 years of practice to do two sweeps? It's very unlikely...

Plus I think you're a bit deluded by assuming they all just sit down and rake out these awesome videos. Most videos they post are full of mistakes (even one of my favorite sweepers, Rasite, has screw ups in almost all of his sweeps... and he's among the most cleanest one on youtube in some respects). These people sit down and keep hitting the 're-record' button until they get it right (which is inevitable); ... WAY DIFFERENT from playing LIVE.

@dime4life99 there isn't a specific time... if you try to do every day you would improove every time.. i learn in more or less a year.. but i started with 3-strings then 5 strings and now i'm learning 6-strings.. i want to learn Serrana of Jason Becker so it's a good way to improoving.. bye dude
