Yoshi's Story wasn't a terrible game. It was just too short, and the final boss was a joke. It was a big letdown after the awesome Yoshi's Island.

Actually, he sounds exactly the same for both Japanese and American version. I know this because I have the Japanese cartridge for Yoshi's Story and it is the only language of the game I have played and the only Japanese N64 game I own(until I buy the English one in Wii Shop Channel). Maybe his voice in this commercial is for a "beta" version or something.
