@afghanhorse He was from Khorasan which is now called Afghanistan but since the people of Khorasan are said to be Aryan the other word for it Iranian in this sense he is Iranian but he was not from the territory of modern day 'Iran'. Sadly the name of Afghanistan is the main problem; it should be Khorasan or Aryan that way Iranians would be known as Aryans.

So Mawlana Rumi acknowledges the tiny eyes or oriental features of Turks in his poems while Rumi as a Tajik Balkh didnt have that kinda of feature himself.
