bought an electric and never used it. traded for an acoustic and practiced much more because it was easier to pick up and play right away. then i tinkered about 20 mins a day with what I learned from this YouTube post. Since March 09 i've made nice progress with just a little fun jammin! if you have dexterity for piano; a guitar will be easy

  • this was great! it helped me alot. I practiced this several times today. I just picked up a guitar today and im so excited to learn. I want to learn the mandolin next.

  • glad to have found this I dont have to struggle with finding lessons in order because you put enough info in one lesson to to practice for days

  • thanks 4 this vid

now i can beat slash in guitar competition

  • you're really helping me bro. Really appreciate it.

  • This helped me so much ! ^-^ Thanks A Heap!!

  • Really good, but can you sort your audio out? Alot of static and it is annoying. Your great though!

  • Great video, only criticism is that there's a whole heck of a lot of info from about 7 mins to 8 mins. Talking about playing an octave, you go into ok just play this note, then this one, then this one, etc it's hard to follow where I should be placing my fingers and trying to keep up with how quickly you move through it. Otherwise, great stuff and thank you so much!

  • Thanks for the input When I first posted

these vids utube kicked them back saying the

files where too large so I cut them up

check out intro 2 and if the vids are too

fast hit rewind and watch them again

  • Hi! I Was Just Wondering If Chords On All Guitar's Are The Same. Because I Have An Acoustic Guitar. If Not Could You Maybe Put Beginner Lessons Up If It's Not To Much Trouble.

  • You rock man, merci beaucoup!

  • I've had a guitar for awhile and I've gone through the beginners book it came with a couple times stupefied, you lesson helped understand some of the basic principles. Thank you very much sir for this informative video, the quality is excellent.

u have the best lessons thanks

  • Hey just wanted to say this video really helped me out with learning on account that i have only had my guitar for a couple of weeks.

Very informative keep it up i look forward to learning much more!

  • this really does help:]

i'm a beginner and i'm anxious about playing the guitar:D

do you know if a cresent is a good beginner guitar ?

that is what i have now .

  • if you are happy will it thats what counts

is it acoustic or electric or nylon string

if its easy to play and all the notes work

and it sounds good thats all you need.

  • it's an acoustic:]

i just learned the g scale from your video and i think it sounds pretty close to yours ,

so i think it's pretty good:]

    for a beginner that is:D

  • You've explained the G scale in a way that has until now been incomprehensible to me. Thank you.

  • thanx

    jh

  • thanx for the reply, its not tht important- just that the fret board is also dark on your guitar so it would stand out better against a lighter background. If you get your clothes dirty then play naked - it would certainly get you noticed even more, try it and see!!! I would like to see you redo some videos have a camera friend zoom in sometimes to see the fingers position better and offer these videos on DVD, id buy one! naked or not.

  • My camera broke Im buying a new one

    but I ain't playing naked I wouldn't

want to subject anyone to that There would

be people getting sick all over the world

Next vid I'll use a guitar with a maple

finger board thanx for the input JH

  • Vid quality fine though i would have liked it if you wern't looking so dark, a lighter shirt please? What sort of guitar is that- such a sweet sound, I want one!

  • it is a vantage 635v about 300us dollars

I wear dark clothes because when I wear

light clothes I always ruin them.

  • Really great help - thanx :D

  • This is awesome. Real handy. Thanks a lot.

Oh! and your video skills are just fine.

  • This is awesome. Real handy. Thanks a lot.

  • good to find a lefty on youtube, excellent lessons

  • i've been playing guitar for a while and this still helped me out dude thanks! rock on!! \m/ (it's a rock fist! accept it!)

  • thank you so much for you time and help!

  • dude ur the person i have been looking for thank u

  • I just started trying to learn how to play last night on a borrowed guitar. I am a lefty and it's for a righty so I am trying to use it backwards. I am having difficulty with chords and having my finger only hit the one string when doing a G major chord. Could the fact that the smaller strings are at the top be making it more difficult? I was just trying this guitar to see if I had the patience to learn before I went out and bought my own left handed guitar.

  • about the whole and semi tones, so basically, whole and semi skips and goes alternately in a pattern.

Like from bar to bar. dotted bar is whole and none are semi's ?

  • moving from one fret to the next fret you are moving

a semi tone AKA half step

skipping a fret you are moving a whole tone AKA whole step

If you move from fret 1 to fret 2=semitone

if you move from fret 1 to fret 3=whole tone JH

  • thanx a lot

    it's really helpful

    please make more video

  • good video, the video isnt perfect, but thats youtube. Other than that its excellent and very helpful, this is way better than live lesson (you can't rewind those)!! That scale is hard to get the hang of.

  • VERY helpful! thanks so much!! :)

  • this video is vey useful thanks

  • thanx that helped ALOT keep making vids

  • Great video, really helpful - thanks very much for making it!

  • thank u so much this is helping me ALOT!! ps i just started. YOU ARE AN AWESOME TEACHER!!!
