  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of The Episode Of "Another World" On March 23, 1979.

  • I also wanted to add too the casting of Carmen Duncan in the role of Iris was creative genius as well. Iris was actually the inspiration for Alexis Carrington Colby on "Dynasty." For AW to cast Carmen, who sort of resembled Joan Collins, in the role was marvelous. Her Iris was much more human, vulnerable & sympathetic. I actually liked it when Iris & Rachel became civilized to one another after Mac's death

  • some of her actions-like wearing a slinky negligee in front of her father were downright inappropriate. Course as much as i adored Mac he did led gher on unconsciously-there were no boundaries in their relationship.

  • Beverlee Mckinsey was actually born in 1935. I loved the character of Iris Cory Carrington Bancroft Wheeler. There was more to her than the devious mastermind plotting to break up Mac & Rachel. During Beverlee Mckinsey's time as Iris the idea the roots of Iris's neurotic insecurities being unmasked-we saw a woman who had a serious Electra complex

  • whos is iris's mom and dad

  • @optimussentinel66 Mac and Sylvie

  • Oh how I loved Iris. The comedy with her maid Vivian, her hatred for Rachel, and the way Ada would tell her off. She had great chemistry with these actors. I miss these kinds of soaps. I'm sure that 1940 DOB is incorrect.

  • March 23, 1979 thanks to the AWHP site. Thanks Eddie

  • This would be between March-August 1979.

  • Wow Richard Backus, I know him from Ryan's Hope!

  • the great beverlee mackenzie i remember the scenes where she had a total break down her chrachter iris is cutting her hair its hard to believe she never recieved a emmy for her out standing portrayl, i read she died during a surgical percedure she lived in australia in retirement till then thanks for your talent and elgance in your protrayl of iris on a.w. and texas

  • If you take the Mac/Rachel/Iris triangle & characters and give them their own series, like The Sopranos and The Wire... the actors would have been given the praise they truly deserved.

Nancy Marchand, otherwise known as Livia Soprano was actually on AW at this time and I often wonder if she was inspired by Beverlee's Iris when she brought Livia to life.

  • It's been 10 years. And, now, this year, we lose GUIDING LIGHT where Beverlee reigned as well!

  • MissMousy60, I had to laugh when I read your comment. Back in the Steve/Rcahel/Alice triangle days... Rachel was being so mean to Alice, and they were in a heated arguement, when my mother became so upset with Rachel, she actually stood up and kicked the TV, that is how upset she became with Rachel, I will NEVER forget it! lol THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS OF DAYTIME TV!

  • The only time I watched AW was at my Nan and Pap's. My pap HATED Iris. He got so mad one time that he threw the pillow at the TV. She was a very good actress.

  • She is absolutely CAPTIVATING. Actors, watch closely.

  • You said it. Do you see how specific her work is? So many soap actors these days play "state of being" (mad, sad, glad). Miss McKinsey is playing clear actions and objectives, she is *on* Mac during the beat about Rachel (1:30-2:30), volleying the ball right back to him.

  • I guess I remember "Iris" from an earlier period--when it seemed like every scene I saw her in she was lounging on her patio. There were two teen-aged boys then, one named "Dennis," I think?

I do remember "Iris" and the comical scenes with her maid even then, the hatred she had for "Rachel," jealous of her with her daddy "Mac." I think she was "Iris Delaney" at that point. I watched the soap with my stepmother and sister sometimes, when there was no more "Secret Storm" to watch after 1974.

  • i also remember the scenes at "Ada's," "Rachel's" mom--seems like they were always in the kitchen. "Ada" had a boyfriend/husband named "Charlie" then. I remember watching the sad day when "Charlie" died.

  • As a long-time fan of "Search For Tomorrow," I have always wanted to see an episode when the actress who played "Ada" on "AW" (Constance Ford) played "Rose Petersen" on "SFT," who was also the sister to the character of "Wilbur Petersen," played by a then-newcomer named Don Knotts (before he left "Henderson" to become a deputy sheriff named "Barney" in a town called "Mayberry"). But those were in the early 1950's--only a few remain on kinescopes.

  • Dennis Wheeler, her son, and Jamie Frame, Rachel's son with Steve Frame, yes, they were tweens & early teens then.

  • What a blast from the past..Iris's penthouse! This set looks incredibly stylish for the times..something that could very well be seen today. I loved Vivian her maid..the 2 different personalities played off of each other splendidly and was very enjoyable to watch. AW was driven with high quality in mind at this point..nothing like we see today.

  • What memories! Ahh, the famous "Iris" portrait in the background! :-) I can still remember when Robert Delaney (Nicolas Coster) was furious that Iris caused Clarice's premature labor with their child as she was leaving town! First he smashed the bust of Mac that Rachel made then he took a fireplace poker and approached the painting..."You!!! You're the one I should destroy!!!" Slash slash! Iris just about keeled over when she saw it all!

  • Are these videos available on VHS or DVD? Where do these clips come from?

  • Fans save them, sometimes trade them.

  • Beverlee was total artistic genius.

  • I'm very sad to hear about Beverlee's passing. I adored her as Iris. She was a brilliant actress.

  • Well darn, after watching part one and two of these scenes, I wanted to see more with Iris, Ted, Rachel, and Mac. AW sure looked good back then. The bantering between Ted/Iris was interesting. Did they get along well?

  • Thanks so much for bringing these clips back to You Tube. RIP Beverlee McKinsey. She will be missed. The quartet of McKinsey, Douglass Watson, Victoria Wyndham and Paul Stevens were stellar. Be sure to check out the AOL video episodes of Texas on-line. Episode #s 11 and 13 feature the last scenes of Watson and Stevens with McKinsey as she started on the spin-off.

  • How ironic is it that Ms. McKinsey died a day before Another World's 44th anniversery :(

  • Yeah, I know what you mean. I have corrected what I've written, though, to May 2 to reflect what the published obituary says.

  • Such fine, fine actors....
