  • I have zero sewing experience. I have problem finding, or being able to afford shirts that have the fit I want (rick owens long tshirts, complex geometries shirts w huge necks, for example) and thought maybe I could just get fabric and make my own. I feel like whatever mistakes occur, I will probably appreciate their aesthetic. I am, however, a busy philosophy major and all I do is sleep and read. Is this a much bigger project then I think? maybe the hems will be hard/time consuming?

  • @lloplop It is a little time consuming, especially if you haven't got much experience on a sewing machine as you need to take your time in order to do it. Having said that its not a huge project and once you get it it will take you hardly any time at all. I think maybe when you do have some time you should experiment, firstly by using a crappy t-shirt or old fabric and sewing, then seeing how that pans out for you. Your geometric shirts sound awesome 'd hate for them to be ruined!

  • @dodgyredhead thanks so much for your response! im going for it! :)

  • lol great girl :)

  • What is the point of cutting off the seams? Does this have to be done?

  • @ReinRamm in this particular video, no. Its a preference of mine, which I should have put in the video really! But no, not for this video :)

  • I can't believe this, I was looking for a video (about how to sew my XXL man shirt to a little woman-shirt), and now I have found that :) Thaaaaanks:)

  • Ha, I have that shirt. It's HUGE on me. I just wear it to bed. x]

  • Interesting. As a dude who's lost some weight, my larges and XLs are really loose. I may try this one day when I hit my goal weight. Worst case I throw a couple shirts away. I still have my mom's old singer laying around and her sewing kit. I see a project coming on. :)

  • do you have to stitch on the actual sleeve as well or no?

  • What song is this? I'm dying to know :D

  • @NeonHeartzz3392 Its Muse - Undisclosed Desires without singing.

  • Thanks ive been wondering how to make my sweater smaller and now i know how and i can do all my big shirts and maybe even jackets like this

  • I need a gorgeous woman like you to sew with :)

  • hi, your fit.

  • @bboyjames123 Hi. I'm engaged.

  • @dodgyredhead hi your not all that

  • @itZjstPotna I have a fiancee who would disagree with you. Can i ask where your going with this? And where you got it from?

  • Do you have an Abe's Oddesy tattoo???

  • @thewhitegirlblues I do indeed!

  • @dodgyredhead That's amazing!!!

  • @thewhitegirlblues Thanks! And if I do say so myself, I totally agree! I have a (not so) mild obsession with the Oddworld games!

  • @dodgyredhead Me too! I've been playing the games for years! Best games ever made :D

  • @thewhitegirlblues that's the most truest thing thats ever been said in true things ever!

  • cool beans

  • hahha so good i like skilled girls and i need 1 just like you for my t-shirts :))

  • Hiya (: Thank you so much for this tutorial! I'm just curious, do we have to cut the seam out of the neckline if we don't want to alter the neckline? Please answer, thanks! (:

  • @MelsMoxies not at all! If you want to keep the neck seam there you can. If your keeping the sleeves on make sure you follow the line your sewing down the arm, otherwise you will have really droopy arms.

  • @bonesy222 the best thing to do with the Lady Gaga t shirts is burn them

    their Lady Gaga shirts afterall....

  • Oh it looks so easy, thanks for showing! I'll definitely give it a try. :)

  • @bonesy222 But there is a great video to help you with this. Copy and paste this into youtube search bar:

    Quickie, Tailor Your Shirt, Threadbanger

And select the top video (with the picture of a bald guy on a retro sewing machine) that would be a lot more helpful to you :)

  • @bonesy222 I'm sorry this isn't something I dont know about. Maybe if you search online about it. Sorry

  • you look like adriana grande!

  • THANK YOU!!!!! MY OLD BLINK 182 SHIRT IS AMAZING NOW!! <3 :)

  • That looks great,. But can a guy sew his own fitted shirts? Cuz I rather buy a 5$ box shirt and sew it myself other then buying a 20$ fitted shirt off the self,. Can anyone help me thanks ;)

  • @South336Victor There is a brilliant video by ThreadBanger that would help you out better then this video does. Search: "Quickie, Tailor Your Shirt, Threadbanger" and click the first video (of a bald guy on a sewing machine) its great and I have used this before to take in my boyfriends shirts. MUCH better then spending lots of money on fitted shirts! Happy sewing :)

  • BTW THAT IS MY FAV HIMYM QUOTE EVERRRR: and I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the second part of the word is DAIRY!

  • freakin sweeeeeet!:P

  • Thank you! This will help me loads:)

But I have a question: A lot of times, I have to get a shirt that is too big for me because a shirt that fits me around the waist is often too tight around my chest- so I just have to get a size larger, hence most of my shirts are loose around the waist. If I fit my shirts this way, will my shirts be really tight around my chest?

  • @TheDailyDalia It probably will be too tight for you up top if you were to do this video to be honest! BUT I do know of another video from threadbanger that would be a lot better for you, if you search 'Quickie, Tailor Your Shirt, Threadbanger' and click the top link, its for mens tailoring but it would also work for women too :)

  • thumbs up if your watching this vid exactly a year after it was uploaded :)

  • @punkrastagirl96 Wow I didn't even realise its been a year!

  • my mom is so stubborn.she always buys over sized t-shirts.wen i tell her than i want small fitted t-shirts,since she always says that they'll shrink in the dryer i gave knowing tht im not gonna win nd just get her pissed off!..so i was trying to find a way to just making them smaller now i have thanks to you!!

  • damn i need a girlfriend who can sew like you to

sew my pants and shirts tighter ahh

  • @guillotinedeath you dont need a girlfriend to do it for you. thats not what girlfriends are for. If you need your clothes sorting out, do it your damned self!

  • @dodgyredhead

i was playing hahahaha dont get so mad

i wish i knew how to do it myself..............

  • @guillotinedeath My pants got tighter just looking at this cutie... if you know what i mean ^^.

  • @MRcrispy00 nice.

  • @dodgyredhead Sorry... couldn't hold my self. I actually liked this video, I have large t-shirts too, that was just a stupid joke (or not?) :)

  • @MRcrispy00 yea bit of a dumb joke but i appreciate you saying sorry :) I'm glad you like the video though

  • Great video, very clear and easy to follow instructions and the end result looks great!

Now I've got a whole pile of men's shirts soon to be sewn thanks to you :)

  • @Gryphonhybrid Your most welcome! :)

  • Thank you so much for this vid!

  • Hmm

You're a Dodgy Red Head, eh?

  • amazing!

  • really coooooooooool ! i liked it very much ! thank u :)

  • Hi i was wondering if it was possible to reconstruct a shirt for a guy.. Like say get a girly shirt that has logo of a band and reconstruct it so that a guy can ware it. If it is possible how would you do it? If you or anyone knows of a video i can watch with some one doing this it would be helpful

  • @xXxThrasherxXx360 Good news is if your handy with a sewing machine (or know someone who is) its a lot easier to shape a top to fit a guy then it is a girl. I do it for my boyfriend all the time when he gets shirts that are too big I just adjust them for him by sewing a straight line down the sides rather then a curved one, just as long as you sew the sleeves down as well, but not much or you will have tight sleeves.

    Search:

    Quickie, Tailor Your Shirt, Threadbanger

    Thats a pretty good video!

  • I love you! what a wonderful and simply put tutorial.I used it - thanks!

  • does anyone know where to get blank color t-shirts that are muscle fitted?

  • do you have to cut it in order to make it fit to that certain person?

  • @asernaish well I personally I would never cut the top before sewing it, because once you cut it you can never add it on again if it was too much. as long as you get the right measurements then it should always fit you. If your unsure you should get a top that fits you already and use it as an outline to get it right. I hope this answered your question?

  • will this look okay if you just wanted to make it look like a smaller t shirt that looks exactly the same though? i got a t shirt as a gift, but it only came in medium, so i just want it to look like it's a small size, but i don't want the sleeves much different

  • @UtSesquipedalian Yea of course, if you just want it to look like a normal tee but smaller you dont have to cut anything. Although having said that the sleeves might be a little out of proportion as they will be longer then the size but that depends how big the tee is in the first place. If its medium to small it shouldn't be a problem and you wont have to take it in very much either. Good luck!

  • thank you!

  • What is your background music redhead? I've heard it before but don't know what it is!

  • @JohnAdmiralAwesome For this one its Undisclosed Desires by Muse but instrumental. I'm a big Muse fan but this is the only song of theirs I could find without any singing! Might try and find some more if I can =]

  • I love it! Thanks for putting this out. Off to work I go! ;)

  • haha u got green hair ahahaha

  • @babyjocelyne It was black, but as it washed out it got really green, more so after this video! Its all gone now though... but I kinda liked it, my boss wasn't too impressed :D

  • Awsome Video Thanx a lot :D

  • Thank you =]

  • good video!

  • Hey Laura. This is great, you make it look simple and it ends up looking really cool!
