WOOOOOOW. okay the wiz is full of black people and was made by black people. i see not oneeeeee black person on stage. really if ur gonna do the wiz...BE BLACK
@Dreamliving104 That`s a little bit like saying you shouldn`t cast black people to play leads on other "white" musicals. The wiz as a movie was definately a black production. The stage script drops a lot of the black community refrences. It's more of a compliment that people of all ethnic backgrounds want to stage the Wiz than it would be to keep the musical "black".
This looks like Katie perry and the dancers from "California Girls" decided to do a musical. And wat the hell was with that high pitch off key note on "home".
@15javalava I think it's funny too. I'm not quite sure why our director picked it for our production that years since we had no African American students in the show...but hey, whatever works, right? lol
@kaekae198 In the 1978 movie version they changed the name from Addaperle in the original stage version to Miss One. Joel Schumacher, who wrote the screenplay, used very little of the dialogue from the stage version. In addition, many of the orchestrations are different for the movie and "You Can't Win" was substituted for "I Was Born on the Day Before Yesterday." They also cut all of The Wizard's songs as well as one of Glinda's.
Camp at its worst -- gaudy, sixties(?!) colors and fashions, and the good witch looks like a drag queen. Better yet, Divine -- and that's no compliment.
Nanea's so cute! Angie too! Since I saw the musical, this song has been stuck in my head. It's crazy. I remember when I showed Mrs. Nogues my vid of this in French, SHE FLIPPED cuz ur "whistle notes!" Da da da daaa da da da daaa! Tee hee. Love ya Becca.
This is awefully sloppy, I must say. And rather off key..

@jlkpatt The high note is actually in the music for one of the munchkins...It's an octave jump so it should be in key :P

This is a show white people can't do.. racism against my own race xD
our production of The Wiz sucks as well.

no offense...It really good but its kind of funny because the production of Th Wiz is a African American interoperation of The Wizard of Oz

@FilmFreakable Well, it is set in the 70's and the point is to be gaudy and over the top so I'm glad it came across that way :)
neomarica 1 year ago
Yeah, but even the film wasn't this over the top with everything. This looks like a overly trippy, Andy Warhol wet dream.
