  • Alright I know all of the pll, let's move on to the oll!

  • your links are not opening at all

  • at 0:50, u do an algorithm to solve z-perm

    wich did u use? i say u didnt use the m2 u m2 u m' u2 m2 u2 m' u2

  • Everyone: his website is badmephisto. com! All the algorithms are there, just use the menu on the left.

  • t ferm lol

  • what are the important PLL that i have to memorize?

  • Your link doesn't work man :(

  • what is the name of the programm at 8:38 ??

  • all of your links are not found... cept for one.

  • does any body have OLL alg.?

  • @badmephisto what is your site that you made on pll's?

  • @RVH253 badmephisto . com ;)

  • Hey man, I finished learning the 2-look oll & pll. Now shoud I learn full oll or full pll?

  • @Cuda017

Full PLL. It only has 21 algorithms were full OLL is over 50. They both take around the same amount of time off your solve as eachother.

  • Do you solve yellow face using beginners method then finaih with plls?

  • @Theevilegor yea i'm not getting this either. I solve the first layer cross just by looking, then then i use fridrich OLL (i think it's called that anyway),

but then i make the top layer cross, then align the edge pieces, then sort out the corners. i'm not aware of any way of doing the first 2 layers then suddenly jumping to solving the top face without solving the whole top layer.

  • bad, i have trouble recognizing which pll or oll is which, like the corner switcher and the edges, do u know any tips on this?

  • hey man where do u buy ur cubes? i live in toronto but seems like most people order their cubes

  • @TABerselli-- Oops. I forgot to mention that I have permanent nerve damage in my left hand from a spinal cord injury: this makes turning the cube a challenge to begin with. But I TOTALLY enjoy solving puzzles, so I WILL figure out a way to physically do it. My parents bought me a new cube yesterday (standard Rubik) just so I had two to work with, and the new one is easier to use, but still causes pain over time. The speed cube sounds like the way to go. :)

  • @TABerselli Thank you SO much for this info. I've got two layers solved...now I need to learn the algorithms for the rest of the cube. This is fun! And yes, I am already looking into getting a speed cube just to help compensate for my left hand nerve damage: the Rubik's is causing too much pain. My cube came with a DVD that made solving 1st two layers easy.

What do you think of the Rubik's DIY cube? What cube do you suggest? Thank you for being so kind and helping me! :)

  • what is a PLL and what is an OLL?

(I just got my first cube since it first came out in the 70s.)

Also, my cube is new...and gets stuck (it's sometimes difficult to make the turns). Does it simply take time to break in the new cube? It IS an authentic Rubrik.

Are you a math genius? Seriously. ;)

  • @jaibhakti After you solve the first two layers you do OLL, which makes it so all of your last layer pieces are oriented correctly, but not in the correct positions. PLL stands for Permute last layer, this is done right after you do orient last layer (OLL). PLL takes your correctly oriented pieces and positions them in there correct spaces. Rubik's brand cubes aren't necessarily designed for quick solving but it will start to turn easier as it gets broken in and you can also...

  • @jaibhakti ... take the pieces apart and spray them with heavy duty silicone spray or put petroleum jelly on them to make it move a little smoother. You have to be careful with petroleum jelly though because over time it will damage the insides of your cube causing it to break or become stiff. I have not used silicone spray before but from what I have heard, it is the best lubricant for Rubik's cubes and it doesn't damage them.

  • I got my first cube when it originally came out...'couldn't solve it (there was one newly published 'solving the cube' book...but it was way over my head). I've solved the '15 Puzzle' and the 'Pyraminx' without any help...but I'm stumped with the cube. I can do one face without help.

I just bought a new cube...could someone please tell me what a "PLL" and an "OLL" are?

I love how your hands move so fast when you are solving that your digital camera cannot keep up! BLURRY! :)

  • hay can you tell me a good timer for my computer

  • @kony995 cubetimer, qqtimer search on google

  • @kony995 cubemania . org is nice u can also see ur improvements in a graph

  • im having trouble with the V,F and E the little rs etc are mixing me up any tips?

  • Nice L perm- switches the UR and UB edges, as well as the URF and URB corners

    x U2 r' U' r U2 l' U R' U' R2

Its ugly in notation but it's really short and quite fingertricky.

  • I have a pll that i made by myself. i found that there are 2 cases that i get frequently that does not have a pll for it so i made on. For the case where u must swap to corners and cycle all edges either clockwise or counter clockwise. For counter clockwise u perform the corner switching algorithm that switches to opposite edges but instead of RUR' you do rUr' for the whole algorithm. So switch the R to r. For clockwise to the inverse Perform it backwards with all moves inverted there u go

  • Bob Burtons printout page had many errors. 2,13,18,and 19 are not correct either the picture or the algorith is not correct

  • @chris141294

x, y, and z are all cube rotations. I don't think any of these algs call for a z rotation but those letters mean rotate the whole cube along whichever axis is indicated. For example an x means rotate the cube 90 degrees along the x axis or in the direction of an R move. x' means rotate the cube 90 degrees counterclockwise so the same as an R'. If you're learning OLL and PLL you should know what all the notation means by now but finding the notation online just takes a quick google

  • if there is a f-perm i do a y-cuberotation first, then R' U' F' -T-Perm- F U R. the algorithm is easy to learn...

  • Hehe. I just learned my first permutation and it was the brute force g-perm here (R U R' y' R2 u' R U' R' U R' u R2). I changed it to R U R' y' R2' u' R U' R' U R' u l as Iused a mnemonic sentence:

    R U R' - "split the block," y' R2 u' R U' R' U "change of direction," R' u R2 "surprise exit". Notice how in the "change of direction the u' winds down to a U' and changes direction as does R .. the when you'd expect an R2 there's the R' and u "surprise exit" .. anyway, i love your stuff badmephisto.

  • OLL's are so much easier to recognize but theres so many of them! do you recommend learning the OLL's or PLL's first?

  • How or why would you even learn the PLLs if you don't have the top layer is oriented?

  • @puldis i meant do you recomend learning FULL PLL before learning FULL OLL i already know 2 look for both obviously.

  • hey dude,i use your website. not cubewhiz.your's is very easy to memorise.i memorised all the algorithms.

  • awesome tutorials got the hang of the f2l but could you please put a key up on your site or on here for the movements in the algorithms because im not sure what x means and y and stuff :S Thanks! :)

  • hey man thanks!!!! im in the prosses ov learning full pll

  • what type of 3 x 3 u use my fren?

  • DO YOU KNOW WHAT MEANS " y " in the alghorithms???

  • @MrLukaPejic y = u + D'

  • holy crap your fast!

  • for memorizing the U perms in this video note that there is always a square on the U layer and i never goes to the bottom right corner if it doesnt, you performed it wrong

  • good J perm : L' U R' z R2 U R' D R U' D' R2 U D

  • Does ANYONE know an alternate A perm??? I don't mean something like the way Thrawst does it.... the same alg, but with the cube turned a different way.... I mean an actual, entirely different alg. I hate doing A perms. They're so slow. Way too many regrips, for me at least.

  • @xxoxia - Actually, nevermind. New A perm right here. JUST like J perm.

    R U R' F' r U R' U' r' F R2 U' R'

  • @ialocin97 yea but that would mean that u would hav an extra pause (3 rather than 2 for fridrich last layer).

  • I am a beginner and have just finished f2l. Should I learn the 2-look first, or just go straight in to the pll. I just feel like it might do me a disservice to learn the easier way first, then the harder pll.

  • @drewsky684 I actually found pll easier, because lots of them are similar (ie, G perm is pretty much all the same for all 4 variatns, just as V,F or J, T... That reduce the number to about 15 or so cases. Also 2look oll is probably faster then 2look pll

  • @drewsky684 ok, first do the two look because you will be using it anyway if u get lucky doing the pll so do two look, for about a month, maybe two then youl only have 15 algs to memorize

  • @drewsky684 it wont do u a disservice because all algs in 2-look PLL are used in 1-look and all algs in 2-look OLL are used in 1-look (orienting corners).

  • I love you amazing algo compared to what I've found before.

  • Comment removed

  • how much should my time go down when i switch to this from 2 look pll

  • hey can someone tell me plz what x and r are?

  • x is a cube rotation. make F into U for x and vice versa for x'

r is a double layer turn. turn R and M as if they were both R

  • @1995JOHN14 x is a cube roation and r is adouble R turn includes the middle layer

  • I know an alternative F perm which I know it's faster, even with a cube rotation:

    (R U' R' U R2) y (R U R' U') (F' R' F R) F2 U

After you get the idea and learnt the moves, you can fingertrick it pretty well.

  • just wondering,is the camera mounted on your head?

  • He says that on his website

    badmephisto(dot)com

  • @Vainnyster13 it's stuk between his headphone and his head

  • @Vainnyster13 Have you looked the FAQ section at Badmephisto's website?

  • @Vainnyster13 yes

  • Please tell me you're kidding. Dan Brown sucks.

  • seriously, Dan Brown teaches beginner method which is WAY!!! SLOWER!!!

  • PLL=something you can do it faster ;P

  • @gumcool

DUMBass Dan Brown's vids do NOT work. If you don't know what a PLL is then why watch a video on it?¿?¿?

  • @iasimp1997 i dont no what a pll is and i could do it in 2 min

  • gumcool:

stop being a sucker if you don't know what does PLL means

and 2 min is a goomba

  • fuck u all

  • Comment removed

  • mature... jessica friedrich method is advanced you can solve the cube in avarage of 50-60 moves i think what dan browns is like 150?

  • gumcool:

    2 minutes is slow

  • well its bin a month no i could do it in 1 min 20 sec

  • gumcool:

    WTF???

    dan brown is for beginner

this one is what the true speedcuber should watch

  • Dan Brown averages more than 50 seconds, meph is a consistent sub 20 cuber...

  • Hey Bad, just wanted to tell you something useful. That N pern you go over in this video, has a much easier algorithm. Since you were talking about having other algorithms within certain algs, such as the T within the J, well, there's an alg for the N which has the J within. For the N, just use: L U L' y' (then do the J perm followed by) F U' F'. Hope this helps!

  • thanks! yea, thats pretty nice

  • Hey, no problem man! While we're discussing algs, would you happen to know any alternate A perm algs? I'm tired of using the same old one everyone uses. Let me know, please!

  • or LU'L'U'RUR'F'RUR'U'R'FR2U'R'LU'L' as in the comments to theWestonian, saves you fo the F layer business at the end.

  • thank you for that one, It's definitely easier then the one I am currently using

  • No problem!

  • Nice N perm, I'm learning full PLL and I'm missing N's and G's, that one worked pretty well, thank you

  • @xxoxia creds to thewestonian

  • @speedcuber0210 - What, for the N perm? I'm actually not sure where I learned that alg. I've been using it for quite a while.

  • @xxoxia yes its in his pll video

  • @xxoxia well, you can use a much better Setup, too:

    R U R' U [J-perm] U' R U' R'

  • @egonAges - Ahh! Cool! Thanks man, that is pretty good, too. I've been trying it out, I just need to get used to it. I'm so used to the other one, but this one eliminates the rotation.

  • @xxoxia can it be performed very fast?

  • @79bommer - Yes, I can do each of my PLL algs in 1 - 3 sec.

  • @xxoxia ok thnx ill be practicing hard with it

  • @xxoxia wait could you explain further

  • @assailantgamer - Explain what further?

  • The J perm is the T perm just the last part of the T perm goes to the front part of the Alg and the T perm is made up just from 2 OLLs the same 2 OLLs in the backwards order do the Y perm

  • gum fell out my mouth when i saw difference between 2 look an full lol

  • First of all.. Thank you very much for all your effort and your great website. THe only thing I disagree with you is that you get the F perm for free when learning the V.. I track a F2L pair while doing the V but the F has an extra U in the beginning... SO i can't track the F2L pair anymore while doing the F, that makes it very confusing and one of the hardest algs to learn. I acctuacly learned an other alg for the F perm. But again, Thank you!!!! you are a genious

  • For H perm, don't use the M2 U etc... Use R2 U2 R2 U2 R2 U R2 U2 R2 U2 R2 U'

  • nooooooo use M2 U M2 U M' U2 M2 U2 M' U2

that alg can be preformed in under 1 second at its best and is far superior to the other one.

  • Find me a video where someone does it in under 1 second please?

  • watch?v=spFnQTn6Fx8

    Found it! BEEG BOI!

  • Just ignore Quarosi, he looks for arguments all the time.

  • k, thanks for the tip.

  • 18/21 memorized

    only missing 3 G's

  • cubewhiz is down

  • 8/21 plls memorized :D

  • tracking the n perm is easy!! ty for the help

  • the color coding just makes it harder to read

  • When you use a 2 step PLL you can always end with an U perm. You just need to solve the correct corners with your J and N perms. It will save time for you 2 steppers to learn :D.

  • dont you mean T perm and Y perm

  • No, I didn't. T and Y would work fine as well though.

  • @lvboi03 - Actually, if you really want a FAST 2 look PLL system... all you EVER have to use is the A perm for the corners and the U perm for the edges. That's the way Dan Harris teaches for his beginner's method.

  • @xxoxia Probably. I've had my 2 step PLL down for a long time though.

  • For G perms, I realized the headlights are always on the left, and all I have to look for is the 2x1x1 bar on the right side.

  • d and d' is wat and y also is wat?

  • waw, i can do T and J perm now

  • what is "y"??

  • 'y' means that u turn ur cube as if u wud do a U'

  • is there anybdy can tell me what is the diffrnt between f and F???

    'x' is what??

  • F is where you just turn the front face clockwise. f is where you turn the front face and the middle layer of the cube clockwise. x is a cube rotation which means you turn the whole cube a certain way. x means you make the front face the up side (it is like doing an R turn but with the whole cube) but if you want to learn about them all I recommend going on a notation page.

  • ok then whats a y?

I cant read notation yet and i know full frederich so can u give me a rundown of the notation.

  • "f" is turning both front faces. "F" is only turning the first front face. "x" is turning the whole cube, but it's kinda hard to explain in text, pay close attention to this video.

  • seriously? that question was already asked and answered tice on THIS page!

  • x Flip THE ENTIRE cube away from you

x Flip THE ENTIRE cube towards you

F Move front side clockwise [as if youre facing it]

F Move front side counterclockwise [as if youre facing it]

small letter Move the side and the corresponding center clockwise [as if youre facing it]

small letter Move the side and the corresponding center counterclockwise [as if youre facing it]

  • great website =]

  • what is the diffrnt between f and F??? and x is what?=(

  • M2 is when u turn the middle layer clockwise/counter-clockwise

  • hey man ive been cubing for about a month now and i have no idea wat M2 is?

  • thxx

  • sorry i accidently rated this 1 star :( i tried to press pause, should have been 5stars. thnx for the vids and sorry

  • Have you tried J permutation as R U2 R' U' R U2 L' U R' U' L ?

Just thinking you might pull that faster. But you already associated it with the T pll, so im thinking you already have it in your muscle memory, as you say.

Regardless if it´s useful for you or not, thanks for the time you took. Really nice work

  • Thanks =D

  • ur cube is Type A right? the kit.

  • ur pll website is really amazing!

thanks for putting in the efforts to make it color coded!

  • thank you. it took a while :D

  • im sure it did man!!

    but its a neat job u did....=)

    well done!

  • Yes, it's a great website and it helped me a lot. Thanks!

  • ur learning plls?

  • yes

  • how many hv u learnt? i've learnt 13 and i will start with the g perms...

  • Hi badmephisto. On your website-for the "E" permutation there's a middle slice turn that you didn't show. Or am I missing something?

I like your videos and you're a great teacher!

  • very helpful...and nice job with the colors;)

and yeah, the G-perms are hard to learn xD

  • Lol, I know. How are you supposed to know which G-Perm to use for which case? They are all similar xD.

  • watch Thrawst's video entitled ' The PLL's I use'

he has a nice way of remembering the 'G series'. it helped me.

im sure it will help u too =)

  • so far i have learned 17 pll's

  • thanks for sharing

  • Thanks so much for this!

  • When you go along the line of the cube theres no going back...until your friend drops your cube and you have to buy another and it takes LONG time ( couple of days )

  • THIS SUCKS

  • its sad you gave up cubing u are the best

  • i didnt give up cubing i was just really busy. ill make a vid soon

  • but on ur website in the comments u said that you quit cubing?

  • That was people pretending to be badmephisto, lol i put one up saying i was BM's bitch ^^ I also got a 'god' one on :)) Only pay attention to helpful comments

  • hie

    the PLL ARE CONMUTATORS?

could you explain me how the work?

  • I've currently remembered 15 of the 21 in 4 days by learning finger tricks for each algorithm from dvtpgm's video and only remembering the finger tricks. This is a lot easier as you don't have to use your brain, just your muscle memory.

  • i cant get the PLL trainer to work on vistas!

  • a few questions for you

    1. where did you get your cubes?

    or

    2. how did you get your cubes to move so gracefully?

i have a cube but i just used vaseline did you lubricate them?

  • try sanding your cubes inside edges, after vaselining your cube, you should solve it like 10 times before you will see a significant difference

  • silicone spray is more effective than vaseline

  • dont use vasaline use silicone

  • i have a rubiks brand cube that never catches and moves so gracfully .i lost it for 2 months with vaseline in it and it kind of ate the plastic

  • Ah-ha! Some of those are pretty clever. I just learned an N-perm I've never even looked at the algorithm for and now have it memorized!

    xD

    Great stuff here, Badmephisto!

  • What happened to the video :(

  • your website is just pwnage! Really helped

  • Thanks for the alg for the J permutation, I hated the old one I used because even though it was really close to what I think is called the W alg I was using, it used the left side of the cube.

  • how did you did that at 0"43

  • 2-look PLL is bad becuase on a T permutation, how do you do corners with one of the algs without learning something else

  • you would do the corner rotation because you have one side with "headlights" and then you would be left with the Z pll

  • my way of memorising is you just do the algorithm tons of times until its muscle memory

  • same
