  • even though i was born in 1988,i was a big fan of the 80's music

thanks to my mom and uncle haha

  • This is just amazing. I love this song, one of the best song I have ever and will probably hear, because people make such a horrible music nowadays. I'm glad that Bernard is still making music, they are now called Bad Lieutenant and songs are really good : )

First time I heard this song on my Amiga (in MOD format) from some cracktro...

By the way, does anyone know, what machine/game console was used in music video?

    Just wondering :)

I think Commodore 64 but not sure...

  • @ZXRulezzz Wikipedia says that it's the Apple II port of "Zaxxon".

  • @ZXRulezzz Dude I had that game back in the daaayyyyy I cant remember what the HELL it was called but I remember I had a copy of it on my old BBC Acorn Computer: CTRL ALT DELETE for Fun on Floppies!

  • I missed the like button, but I really do like it.

    in höheischweiler denken.

    unsere erste disco damals, sozusagen....

    geile zeiten....damals.

  • There is more good music today than ever before, you just have to do some work in finding it. Thanks to the internet, any talented person has the ability to share what they've created without lucking out on a record contract. We look back and only see the good bands of the past, while conveniently forgetting the truly horrible state of pop music back in "the good old days". That fact is, music designed to be popular for a broad audience will suck, whether it is called ABBA or GAGA.

  • yeah right im old enough to remember the great time in the 80s but theres still brilliant sounds now ... just glad i was born LOL

  • Of course there is so much great stuff now...uh hum, sampling the 80s...

  • Love this... RIP Ian Curtis:(

  • Hah! I remember listening to stuff like this on the radio at 3 and 4 years old.

Brings back memories of the general time...like seeing Return of the Jedi, getting an original NES for my b-day '85...good times.

  • i like this video i like that

  • does anyone know is there a way to download songs to my comp from here please???

  • ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!

    Peace,

    Rolf

  • fucking brilliant! one of the best pop songs ever...

    Happy Obama!

    Rolf

  • It will never be the same, what a massive change in music style when this came along. One of the last great tracks to change the music scene, although Portshead where probably the last. We are stuck in a time warp now, nothing new and I doubt there will be again. It was great to be 16 when this came out and to hear the change at first had.

  • Not many bands come close to stretching the technology of the day. Kraftwerk and New Order. This track pushed the boundaries of music technology like no other. The Linn Drum Machine had just come out and also the Emulator. This track blow me and my friends away, we had never heard anything like it. There used to be a line of people asking the dj to put in on other and other again, he must have put it on about 20 times a night and that is no lie.

  • This takes me back to my days in the U.K. First heard this in a club in Gloucster, think it was Cinderella Rockerfellas--been awhile!!! Thanks for posting, pilicedillo.

  • This takes me back to my days in the U.K. First heard this at a club in Gloucester, think it was Cinderella Rockerfellas...been awhile!!

  • todays music is rubbish i wish i was a teenager in the 80s :(

  • Kraftwerk, was copied by all..Droid.

  • teh best

  • memories!

  • amazing sound -- thanks!

  • CF77777 i wasn't born till the 90's but i still feel the same way, i wish i could have participated in this kind of music not todays fluff =]

  • you don't listen to the right music

some great stuff coming out today.

  • i used to remember boogieing down to this in the paladium in chch during the eighties..

  • Excellent beyond words

  • I've been looking for this song for over a year now. Thanks for posting it. Great vid!

  • a masterpiece end of story...

  • ahh the cold war.... lol

  • love this song. i remeber listening to this when i was five xD

  • Okay So I know People Like New Order But,

When Ian Curtis Sadly Killed Himself Back Then, They Should Have Just Finished It There And Then Because Listen To This?!

What Ever Happened To The Geniustry Of Joy Division.

    RIP Ian Curtis.

P.S i Am Only 13 But I Idolise Ian Curtis,

His Lyrics Should Be Classed As Art.

The Depth And True Meaning Of Them Just Flow Perfectly.

  • Don't worry, you will grow up and learn to appreciate music more than the image.

  • You are a wise young soul. New Order is therapy for those who are left behind after Ian's death.

  • When you'll be an adult and have real responsibilities, you'll understand why the rest of the band continued. Beside, this is New Order, not Joy Division. By changing their name and start over, they left the legacy of Joy Division intact, so you should lay them off and be thankful instead.

  • It wasn`t just Ian Curtis that made Joy Division the band they were....

New Order are a truly seminal group, and I`m genuinely amazed to see this sort of comment.

  • @nedley95 stop idolising people, curtis was just a person like anyone else, certainly not a god! thankfully they didn't just finish it after he died, because i think early new order is better than joy division

  • @chrisnoaro1 i agree whole heartedly

  • 80's was the best!

wonder if there will ever be music as good as 80's again

  • How is it possible that this still sounds like it came out last week?!!! Genius.

  • cf77777 i completely agree, even though im only thirteen I definetly think modern music is crap, and mordern artist are to full of them self's to make anything decent

  • Where can I download a High Quality version of this song? If you have one, please reply.

    Thanks.

  • Why don't you just buy the song?

  • you use any P2P client to download this awesome tune :)

  • I love this song. How could one not. I remember hearing this in the clubs. It brings me back to a time long ago.....

  • I love this song, how could anyone not. This song brings me back. What a great era...

  • i'm so glad i was young in the 80's and partied to this music...so much better than the fluff that's out now and the boring people who are considered 'stars' now

  • @CF77777 I couldn't agree more and I'm 18 now. How I wish I was 18 back in the 80's seemingly a better time period.

  • omg chroma-fx! 8-bit computer graphics! video games even! what an awesome video.

  • The Kraftwerk sample at 0:39 rules. :D

An awesome song and one of my alltime favorites.

  • @vanelektrik from which song is the sample? I love it :)

  • love this version..hihi

  • Awesome song!

  • quite the story this tells

  • what a song !!!! timeless !!!

  • Not sure exactly what this video is about, but it's definitely got something to do with the Cold War, and I love how it bridges generations of video editing: traditional chroma trickery with early Apple II digitization and video gaming. Pretty amazing considering the budget was almost nothing; must have been, else it'd be a Sun or Apoll, not a home computer, and we'd not have so much old-school color mangling. Perhaps New Order had to choose between recycled stock or shitty live-action?

  • Still the biggest selling 12 inch single ever.

  • This is one yank that knows Manchester Owned back in the day.

  • fucking epic

  • Add "&fmt=18" to the url to listen to the song in stereo.

  • i've heard of that song on GTA:VCS via an in-game radio station called Wave 103,right?

  • I love 80s music, too!

  • i was borned the day Ian left us...

    I Really love them :]

  • I was born in the perfect synch. I was 13 when this came out, so parents bought me all the 45's. In late 80's I was old enough to hit the clubs and dance to High Energy and Freestyle and in my 20's I had enough money to see all the rock and grunge bands in concert.

  • I mean, I love the 90's but seriously mate, you make me want to have been alive in the 80's...THIS MUSIC IS EPIC.

  • lucky one :)

  • Classic!

Haa Why did i have to be born so long after this?!

  • yea this song is one of the most coypied from ever! rihanna shut up n drive, m.i.a 20$and orgy, i mean there is more. this is the orignal but very re-copyied from because it one of the best

  • good beat.

  • I saw New Order in L.A. in 1983 at the ripe ole' age of 16---The story goes that I was spending the night at a friends house but instead we drove with a car full of friends from Palm Springs to LA. Probably one of the most fun concerts I had ever been to! It was only the third US show they had done! I told my mom that story about 20 years later! She laughed, but now I have a teenage daughter of my own--She just goes to Jonas Brothers concerts:-/..Boy have times changed....

  • ow Jonas Brothers...

Yes, times really have changed :D

  • Music of today has "garbage" all over it.

  • best track good master and .......... blue monday

  • love the old school vector graphics

  • lol terrific!

    makes me happy inside.

  • Perhaps the notion that'video killed the radio star' had some truth and was still not as necessary as the beat or music then, the cold war was still on, we approached Orwells concept of '1984' Bowie had sung of, Kraftwerk brought in the techno sounds

  • los an¡ños 80 en todo su esplendor sin duda

  • The song is one of the best ever, so how can the video suck so hard? A few live versions i've seen were fucking lame, too. Still, a truly great song of all time.

  • Factory didn't have any money then.

  • This video was given so little money because it was believed the song wouldn't do well...oops!

  • From my own observations, whenever Blue Monday was lame live, it was because it was hard to duplicate the electronic beats in those days, plus Barney sometime couldn't decide which voice pitch to sing. The more recent live performances are much better and Barney has finally decided to stick with the studio voice pitch.

  • uno de los mejores temas electrónicos.

  • B drive!

  • I was born in the wrong era, I think I should of been born 20 years earlier (was born in 86')

    I love all 80's music.

  • LOL i agree, i was born in 1992 bt i swear th 80's were awesome!! My parents tell me it was shit @ the time tho - mainly cuz of Thatcher...

  • me to i was born in 95 and i love all 80s and 90s music!

  • cheers 4 uploading this pal appreciated!

  • good stuff

  • Yeah I like the sound of bass identic at dire straits - money for nothing at 2.15 min

  • Wonderful song and we can see the "power" of 80's computer here :P

  • hey, can u send me this remastered song to me?

  • Great version, Yes. Thanks.

I remember dancing to this tune plus songs like Berlin's "Metro", Trans-X's "Living in Video", Yaz's "Situation", Depeche Mode's "Never Let Me Down Again" & Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Right Round" back in the day at the Love-A-Fair in Vancouver, B.C.

    Ah, those were the days!

  • I sure miss the 80's

  • one of the few songs that make the hair on your back stand up

  • i heard this song in a club. i was drunken and high. and i swear during dancing to this awesome tune i was in a other world.

  • i remember a night in a club. i was drunken and high and then they played this song. i swear god danced with me. an unbelievable experience

  • Well used in Buffalo Soldiers. Tune!

  • Makes me remember what like was like when I was trying stuff for the first time...

  • right on! :D

  • This song is godlike!!!!

  • This was Great Bar Music Back in the day!!:)

  • wow wonderful song and trippy video as well!

  • Yes, no doubt the best song ever recorded. And no Ian Curtis!!!

  • BEST SONG NEVER MADE this is music from god ABOve..

  • this is my all time favourite song ever! whoop whoop!

  • such a wild song, these guys had some great songs, but this was so powerfull in its simplicity and greatness!!!!

  • now i stand here waiting...for music to be born again

  • This song ROCKS!!

  • Zalig deze plaat. uit de new wave periode.

Jammer dak die muziek nooit heb echt meegemaakt

  • superrrr

  • great

  • very progressive tune for the time

  • Awesome Tune. Still sounds fresh.

  • a classic

  • Orgys version sounds happier :) I like the original better, its not such a mainstream song anymore...(back in 88 it was but now...)..also its more serious i think...

  • Rihanna, I though, also plagarized part of the song "Tainted Love" in her song "S.O.S."...she sucks.

  • This keep me alive !!!!!!!!!!

  • Can't find fault with this song or group.

  • Rihanna did sample this song. I think she said it at one time.

  • Rihanna sux :) The today stars are only stupid beautyful girls who dont really know about music....Music is lost, pop killed it.

  • I fucking "LOVE" this song

  • sounds better thanx 4 the sound quality

  • *dances*

  • UUUUUrrruuuu!! Muuuuito bom mesmo!!!!Adoooro New Order...Tudo de Bom!!!!

  • Rihanna - Shut Up and Drive <-- plagiarized the beginning probably from this?

  • Most of the song really.

  • She did sample this song. I think she said it at one time.

  • thanks for the good quality of the sound!!

    unique quality

    thanx very much

  • This is music.

  • Itza partay!!

  • Itza partay!!

  • this song is class!

  • Timeless!

  • I like the guitar in Orgy's cover, but the original is the best by far.

  • Damn... It doesn't get better than this

  • One simple word! Amazing!

  • I need to put this on my ipod...

  • Amo esta canción!!! Tengo especial aversion contra los ingleses, pero hay que admintir que son los mejores en cuestión de música, las bandas mas grandes son inglesas, salvo U2 y Simple Minds...

  • if you are good listening, the beginning is a little bit the same as the biginning of Shut up and drive from Rihanna ;)

(sorry for my bad english, i'm dutch/german

  • Rihanna sampled this song for Shut Up And Drive.

  • i noticed the same thing

  • Still one of my all-time favorite songs. Thanks for posting.

  • OMG!! Im LOVIN IT!! :-)

  • ahhhhhh much better aftyer that orgo or orgy crap i just heard

  • best 12 inch ever

  • oh yes

  • i love this but Orgys version was shit, the songs lyrics and fell is of sadness not "black emotion".

  • It was Pre Techno, you can thank bands like New Order and the Acid House music for Techno

  • this is the best techno band of the eighties.

  • awesome tune

  • Long noted I like mixes better if I hear them first, Metallica did "Die Die My Darling" better than the Misfits. I prefer Jane's Addiction's "War Pigs" over hearing it first as well.

This exceptional song is the exception -- sorry folks, Orgy did it better. Play theirs, give it a shot... It's just got more intensity toward the black emotions of the song...

  • Orgy turned this song to sludge. I much prefer this version.

  • " I prefer Jane's Addiction's "War Pigs" "

never heard it, please post it

  • I already heard the cover from Orgy and it is no way better than this original version.
