  • These lights are right up there in the top range of purpose built bike lights in the UK at least but I wonder how it compares to the CREE LED using lights coming out of China these days. I have a Trustfire TR-3T6 with three CREE XML leds inside it and it blows my hope vision 1 (the non battery pack 4AA battery version) away. I think that even a single XML LED will be a lot more powerful. I will know soon.

  • U can't see 5 feet in front of u

  • this light cost 200+ pounds ...more than a common bicycle. stupid Capitalism

  • Hopehave made the LEDs in this (yellowy) on purpose. It's softer to the eye and more like normal daylight so our secretin of object is clearer then with LEDs that lupine use. What is the width of the beam like? I do a lot of off road riding and I like to see all around

  • lol ... why do u need a 270£ light ?? xDD

  • You have a light on the handle bars and the neck of the frame? Not sure what part that is of the bike, but the steering tube or there abouts....... OH, you have it on your helmet?

  • Why you not make the light Higher to see in Distance more !!!?? My bikelight is pushing high, so can i see more then one mile

  • A very good demonstration.

  • Yes, these lights do have pretty good range, but also good side to side too. They're better in the flesh than in this vid. For what you want them for would be ideal. I think I may very well have had them too far down in the video. I have been strapping it to my helmet mostly these days (nights;) and they are even better as the light goes exactly where you look.

  • where does the battery fit on the bike....

  • The battery simply fits under the stem using the velcro elastic strap that is attached to the battery pack. Or, using the extension lead (included) you can hide the battery in your rucksack if you have the light attached to your helmet. Again, the attachment for the helmet comes with the light.

  • Have these lights got really bad range or has this chap just got them angled down a bit? I want them for some (not over-the-top) techy downhill stuff, was wondering if this would be enough for when i get rolling! Cheers

  • wow pretty bright

  • @dmc081 ,yeah he,s got it angled way to far down

  • ill buy this light in september/october this year too :)

  • TheMightC

Thanks for posting i will buy this light now

  • I think the lupine wilma outshines to this one.

Nevertheless the best light doesn't work if the angle of the light exposure to the ground isn't acute enough. You have to be one step ahead and look ahead.A small emitted light cone catches the focus of the user, which stress the concentration. The rider has a deceiving sense of security. Did you ever had a date with a wild pig?The width is also very important.

  • obviously the wilmas better, it costs around £150 more and operates at a higher wattage, and has better leds and the leds are bluer than the hopes yellowy leds, though that probably doesnt affect brightness much, it just reduces reflection in snow and rain.

  • you call those leds yellow??? there white!

  • hope says that its lights use leds with a cooler colour temperature - which means there more yellowy to look at than a light such as a lupine bettys, which has bluey leds

  • wrong angle for fast riding

  • yeh thats what i thought the beam is angled too low u dont need the light lighting up right next to the front wheel.

  • hes not going fast. but he is for holding a camera

  • do u have the 1 small battery the 2 small batteries or the 1 large battery as the battery pack?

  • great light and vid 5/5 :)

  • good light mate i was thinking of useing it for a video light,in addition to my IR Kit.

  • To answer your questions...; The camera used to film this clip is a basic Canon G7 digital camera...held in my hand. The light cost me £270 from Chain Reaction Cycles back in March 2008 when it first came out but is now £255.

    Safe riding guys:)

  • Any1 know how to record a video like this ..so you can see the real brightness ?

  • how much does this light cost

  • Oh ha ha ha!

  • Oh ha ha ha!

  • Jeeez, don't have a heart attack...

  • What camera are you using for this video, cheers

  • This is a cool video and the light seems bright.

Man, you are getting a great cardio work out. I hear you start breathing harder along the ride. I noticed the exact same thing when i was filming during riding.

Way to go. Keep riding and posting these cool videos.

  • THAT'S scary you can't see up a head. you want to be able to see a head not only the bottom

  • I take it use rechargables ? How long do they last ?

  • It is indeed a rechargeable set urbanmanc, it takes about 6hrs to charge from empty and lasts up to 6hrs (24hrs plus on flashing) depending on what setting you have it on. Full power it will only last about 2rs. The setting below full power is more than bright enough to see those tricky roots with and will last about 4hrs and 6hrs the setting below that. I find I use a combination of all the settings (except flashing) to maximize the length of the batteries life during a ride.

  • Windy day? nice demo :)

  • I don't think so dude! This light would eat your mini mag for breakfast and have room for sex with a dead fish;)

Cree or Luxon? Who knows! All I care is that it shows me the way baby:)

  • my mini mag would kill that light.....:P j/k j/k

what led's is that light using cree or luxon?

  • Mini maglite single Led 40 lumens,4X3W luxeon LED 950 lumens, hmmmm 910 lumens missing from Maglite.

  • seems to be a good light

  • Hi MightyC :) :) :) :) Thank you for that.
