What a load of childish and ignorant garbage! Grilling and Smoking are both BBQ. To say that only smoking is bbq is displaying ones lack of knowledge in bbq'ing.

BBQ includes grilling, roasting and spit-roasting and smoking. All 3 are different methods and all three are or can be BBQ. Thats the beauty of BBQ.

Firstly and importantly BBQ means different things in different parts of the world. The only place that smoking is called BBQ is the US south. The rest of the world- Grilling is BBQ. The Argentine Asado- Grilling. The South African Braai- Grilling. The brazillian Chrussco- Grilling/Roasting. The Aussie Barbie- Grilling/Roasting Korean BBQ- Grilling. To anyone who who says that Grilling is not BBQ, you really need to learn more about bbq

You dont need wood for a BBQ, you can still use gas, you just use less per unit time, so the temperature is lower. It helps to prevent the meat from drying out, and woodchips can be used in conjunction with gas.
