Pop to orchestra arrangement done right! There are too many arrangements out there that try to simply duplicate the original song note-for-note with no respect for idiomatic orchestra use, stylization, and the limitations of the real instruments... and for some reason, people go nuts over them! This is a welcome change, great job.
I agree about the plethora of bad arrangements. The most popular Gaga arrangements on YouTube are by one person who abuses the staccato patches for most of his instrumentation, the counterpoint is sloppy, and the orchestration--if all brass players were playing at that dynamic, they'd probably suffocate and faint, haha.
This is good! It is apparent, the arranger's experience with the composition of film scores is apparent. I have heard so, SO many worse arrangements of SO many pop songs. I would be pretty glad to hear this from an orchestra as an encore. :) Nice work.
@Ant7677 Wow, thank you so much! I'm really trying to nail that cinematic feel with my arrangements. I've heard too many arrangements that try to emulate the synths and drums used in the original pop songs, and it just simply doesn't translate well for orchestra. You gotta think outside the box. :D
