  • it must have been hard for my dad to teach me REAL music but gosh if i have a son i don't know how i'll do it

  • Love the caption at the start about "continuing exploration of funky rhythms"... think we all enjoy "exploring" those!!

  • i am an alto sax player. Really digging the sax solo, can anyone please suggest musicians similar to this? aint it funky now

  • @sequoiadendron5 No offence but that`s one of the best alto sax players ever himself - Maceo Parker. So search for his songs I guess...

  • @sequoiadendron5 Hi, In answer to your question, If you like the un-syncopated sound of James Brown in that era, you would also dig Dyke and the Blazers. Check out "We got more soul" and, of course, Funky Broadway. As far as sax solos, it's not the same style, but I always loved the break in Wilson Picket's land of 1000 dances.

  • FUNKING AWESOME. I dont care,...Just love it!

  • So...the guitarist was rocking some VH in his spare time? ;)

  • @FolkloreHymn Lady gagas the only good one out of them, you have to admit that even if you dont like the genre of music. Usher and that faggot kid can go suck a dick

  • Two funk gods - James and Maceo

  • The Saxophone!!

  • The Godfather of soul and funk........

  • what a great motherfunker !!!!!!!!!!

  • God said, "Let there be funk," and there was funk.

  • That's what you call the pocket.

  • I cant believe this guy was over in this performance! one word...POWERFUL! All you young artist out there, will you still love the music and have passion for it at age 50?! Will you still funk the music like a dog in heat? or will you roll over in your money and just enjoy where it got you?

  • Another #1 hit for James Brown on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 163rd #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also hit #7 on the Top 40 charts. This was considered the first "funk" song. And the man who would become known as The Godfather of Soul was on his way.

  • Bootsy Collins (the bass player) changed the level of The Hardest Working Man in Show Business's thang. Later he was pivotal in the creation(s) of Parliament/Funkadelic, which in turn laid down the basic beat of rap/hiphop. You can look it up. (Or google it.) UH! GOOD GOD!

  • First True Fink song...AMAZING

  • maceo its on fireeeeee

  • dat shite is tighter than a Gnats ASS and finer than frogs hair!!

  • Maceo's hair is the sh_t lol

  • This shit is bomb.

  • WHERE IS THE DRUM BREAK?!?!

  • i fucking love Maceo. shit's invredible

  • 2:57 BLACK VAN HALEN WTF

  • Do you have the original 1969 Cold Sweat?

  • Old Sweat. Love this song!

  • Some one say which is the live concert ? is it possible to have the DVD ?

  • April 4, 1968: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is shot and killed on the balcony of a Memphis hotel. Riots break out in 30 American cities, leaving 39 dead. James Brown goes on national television and urges restraint and constructive channeling of anger by American black youth.☺

  • SO FUN!!! WOOO! LOL :)

  • who is the gaylord disliking this video >:( ?

  • OOOOOH YEAH!!!

  • WHAT's THE BASS PLAYERS NAME ANYONE?

  • @JohnFHebert Oh yeah, that's the great Bootsy Collins!

  • @alexgreenberg what? really?....sweet thanks

  • Some of us got to catch him in his hey day...

  • Maceo parker second funkiest man alive. Simply best sax player in my standards at least when it comes to Funk

  • Maceo PArker (saxman) Kingston N.C. My man

  • @1:09 that's soooo Cleveland playing the tambourine.

  • i had that album and COLD SWEAT IS MY FAVORITE.... even over i feel good, papa's and funky thing... what do you James authorities think?

  • The bass line's speed is fucking BEAST

Playing along here and my arm started to cramp up!

  • Does anyone know which concert this is...and what is the bass players name?

  • DANG, tHIS IS MUSIC RIGHT HEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • This is what the word funk actually means....accept no substitute.

  • @fatkidsgettinghurt

Wouldn't be a great song as it's today. Do not get me wrong, Black Eyed Peas is a good group, but they can never jam like James Brown did.

(Aside from that, they have no wind instruments; and without these instruments the song would lose its "soul ")

  • @xeroscrono Yeh, I was just joking. The only song I want to hear the Black Eyed Peas making is one where a inescapable building fire breaks out in the studio that they're making it in.

  • I felt the cold sweat while i was dancing to this :)

  • James Brown was a fucking musical revolutionary. We may never see the likes of him and other great showmen of his era ever again. Welcome to the Age of Indifference.

  • @LambCouplet gay

  • @lump0lard sorry what was that moron?

  • Damn!!! vut out right in the bass part!! Cmon! Give the bass players some!!

  • The first record I ever bought was a 45 rpm record. "Cold Sweat" ! Fuckin' James Brown! THE Godfather of Funk! American Icon. Thank you James...You and the Beatles were my first musical influences. Bless You.

  • Love it

  • the guy at 1:10 - so concentrated on the tambourine xD

  • hes all sweaty!

  • Maceo, play that horn!!!

  • give the drummer someeee

  • the best drum beat ever!!!

  • The one and original funk master !!!!! Thanks for the post.

  • Good God !!!!! Hit me band.

  • Best music ever!

  • Funky shit! ♥

  • Maceo Parker

    Great Saxophon Player!

  • Cold Sweat parts ! & 2 was always my favorite fast song by JB. Couldn't help but jump up and dance. The original on the 45 is the best., the beat sounds better. Where's Bootsy in this one?

  • The funk is tremendous! "I'm gonna tell my momma!"

  • a direct line to the heart of groove

  • You all know you dancing in your seat.

    HE IS THE MAN!

  • love the proof of the band watching him dance for the beat at 1:06

  • It's totally impossible to make music better than this...hotter than hot...

  • HUH!

    Cold SWEAT!

  • maceo is da best....

    blow maceo blow....

  • i love himm .. brilliantt

  • superb groove.

  • How the HELL did he hit that note at 0:35? Amazing. He was about 100 at the time as well.

  • He's James Brown.

  • HEAT!

  • super! my love.

    jb rest in peace.

  • Appears to culled from a good Video comp. I believe on VHS only. A better choice for this landmark song would be from *any* late '60s TV show or concert. Maceo is his sizzlin' self but the arrangement is too busy.
