  • Bob and Tom!!!!

  • Love the acoustic version ... If a song was to be measured by its very meaningful lyrics, then this song would undoubtedly ... be up there at the top.

  • great

  • мне нравится этот дядя и жаль что в нём мало самолюбия и его недооценили..лучшая музыка!!!

  • thank you scrubs/men at work for making me find this guy ;)

  • @TheGifted93 hah, me too! I'll have to go home and learn this song now.

  • Anyone else notice that his shirt matches the color of the guitar? One of the secrets to lookin' like you're a star on stage.

  • Now that's a nice lookin' guitar! Unlike those Martins with all their pimpish bling on 'em.

  • Best version of this tune. It kills the original. Wow, greatest words and guitar.

  • That singer still has it! It was a hit back in the 80's and still relevant today. " Ghost appear and fade away." 13th Journey is right, Colin Hay is on of the best most underrated singers.

  • Yes I did not find this song on [Scrubs] season 2.....

  • That guitar is the TITS!! I want it!!

  • This kicks ass. Colin Hay rocks! Great phrasing! Great voice! Great songwriter!

  • hammer stimme :)

  • Great song, great singer!

  • I love how everyone in the studio just turns around to see how amazing he is.

  • He is one of the best !

  • He is the most underrated but one of the best singers of all time !

  • come back tay Glesga Colin, our mob think we canna beat you way a big stick

  • @coketherealthing I think it's cute that you assume I for some reason was actually upset over what you said. You weren't just expressing your love for this song, you were talking down on Scrubs, trying to separate yourself and make yourself special because you happened to like the song before it was featured on the show. And now you're being condescending to me for defending the show and pointing out your out of context remark. I think you have some self-worth issues to sort out, my friend.

  • Sad to see time go by:( Love you Colin Hay. Long live Men at Work!!!!!!!!!

  • Simply fantastic

  • ma vaffanculo scrubs che due coglioni dio cane lui è un grande ed è un pezzo fantastico come tante altre canzoni dei men at work

  • Hey man. Everyone's gotta find out about good music somehow. He/she found it through scrubs. "And in the end.." they still found a song that was good and one that you like as well.

  • Fuck Scrubs! I liked this song way before that show.

  • @coketherealthing You're aware that no one cares if you liked the song before Scrubs, right? Scrubs is a great show, and features a lot of good music. Including a few other Colin Hay songs. I knew and liked Men at Work before I ever saw Scrubs, but I actually didn't know that Colin Hay had gone solo until I saw those song versions on the show. So, technically, I liked Overkill before I saw Scrubs too. But I'm not senselessly defaming a show for featuring some damn good music.

  • I love how everyone is amazed by his singing. He truly is that amazing.

  • ty scrzbs

  • is there no autorestart setting? :(

  • @Valansch

    google auto youtube loop

  • great song though, that chorus is amazing.

  • he went high! i think he regretted going high on that verse once he started...gutteral barks and whatnot

  • Well, I just started playing guitar and I have a concert guitar but I think a western guitar is better for rocksongs or this one here. Thanks guys.

  • он поёт не так как в scrubs или на записи....

  • What is he playing, concert or western guitar?

  • Comment removed

  • @StanTheRecordMan This is a western guitar (it has metal strings and it is bigger than an concert guitar)

  • @StanTheRecordMan There is no such thing as a western guitar or concert guitar.

There are acoustics and electric, and both are named after the manner in which they produce the music. Colin is playing an acoustic because he is by himself and the hassle of having to haul around an amp and electric. Also, most writers use an acoustic to do their writing. When he is with his band he has to use electric to produce signal to amplify. Acoustics can be used in concert like electrics.

  • @bashfulbrother Incorrect sir, western guitars and concert guitars are two types of acoustic guitars. The differences are based on body size and there are more sizes--parlor and dreadnought and others. The terms are usually used indiscriminately and sometimes incorrectly. Look it up sometime.

  • @kesselrun0801 Well, they may sell the guitars under these monikers, but I can tell you this, after 35 years of playing guitar all over the world, if you walked up to any working musician and said, "I just bought a concert guitar." They would look at you like you had a screw loose. In the business it's acoustic or solid body, Pickups or not.

  • @StanTheRecordMan They are all guitars and while a electric usually is solid body or an arch top it doesn't produce audible signal without an amp. You don't need that with an acoustic. Also, acoustics are a nice way to reintroduce a song and give it a different flavor.

  • Glad I could help, it's a great song for acoustic, but try that G flat after the Fsharp and slide up to the G. That chord structure I gave is a variation on the Fsharp but it sounds great, I played this in a bar and it went down really well, have fun.

  • Oh i LOVE this! <3

  • I can't believe there are critical comments directed at this video, unless of course they're acknowledging the fact that Scrubs is the biggest bummer on tv in decades. This band was great, and this rendition is awesome. So good to see him doing Men At Work songs, and his voice held up beautifully. Someone hasn't been drinking and chainsmoking for the last 30 years, and if he has.... really AWESOME! Colin Hay. Austroylian for music.

  • I love this song. It's catchy and deep and a fine example of great pop songwriting.

  • 6 people have no idea what great music sounds like ;)

  • muyyyy buena colin , desde chile vivan los ochenta

  • this song makes me wanna drink milk. kikikiki

  • You still fuckin rock Colin!!!!

  • does anyone know the chords of the chorus? the chord after the B

  • @quaquichote For some reason he's playing in a higher key than usual. I suggest you play in the original key and capo 2nd fret if you want to play along with this version. Verse - D, Fsharp minor, C and Em Chorus - Bm, A, Bm, A. I think it might be the next chord you want where he says 'ghosts appear and fade away', i don't know what it's called but place 1st finger 2nd string 2nd fret and 2nd 3rd 4th fingers on 5th 4th 3rd strings 4th fret and then it's G flat to G. Good luck

    ,

  • @mauriceb5067 thanx man, I'm doing like colin makes this version, a step below the original. But helped me, I do the chorus Bm, A, Bm, A, F #, G, A,

  • 6 people "can't get to sleep" because they are too busy clicking dislike....Lazlo Bane first did the different tempo version of this song with colin coming in on the last chorus...then he redid it this way....but it's his song he can do whatever he wants with it !!!

  • argh he's not in time, he keeps coming in late

  • scrubs scrubs :D

  • He has a similar singing style to sting I've noticed

  • Simply wonderful. A great unknowed friend of you -from Budapest. Keep it doing.

  • I was only wonderig, iff you give this song to Sting, can it be a Megahit? I am still a Men at Work fan.

  • Fabulous! Saw Colin in Seattle in Sept. ... A great performer and a great songwriter...

  • @esfandiari216- lighten up. entertainment is just that.

  • omg, i love the lyrics to this song. love it. love it one of my favorite songs of all time. long live Colin Hay. :D

  • Stripped down versions always seem to bring out the best...

  • 2:04 Well done on still hittin the high notes Col, this must hurt, Awesome!

  • why is everyone saying scrubs on this song

  • @spaceorbison Colin and this song was featured on a Scrubs episode.

  • @Kingscup20 on quite a few episodes actually he was a regular guest on the show

  • @Kingscup20 drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • @Kingscup20 my overkill nice ep!!!!!

  • @spaceorbison Next generation thing.... WE know this from Men at Work. Current generations only knows this from a Scrubs episode.

  • @spaceorbison

Because when you listen to Colin you think of Scrubs, and when you watch Scrubs you think of Colin.

  • @x10sys Maybe you do because you find shit out from TV shows

  • @spaceorbison

Maybe I do find, whatever it makes me happy and doesn't hurt others...

At least I don't get offended by the comments on YouTube.

  • @x10sys Well go on your happy little merry way then.

  • @spaceorbison

Anything that takes the jam out of your donut ;)

  • @x10sys Didn't I tell you to be on your merry way?

  • i love love love this XD XD

  • Would never of heard this without scrubs!

  • he ONLY 58 guys.... =) Lot more singing to do

  • BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is friggin AWESOME!

  • This oddly reminds me of the fall and listening I like to listen to it in the fall. But anyways this song is really good!

  • nothing i love more than listening to a guy and his guitar.

  • @proyect070109 i agree but taylor swift has some real talent and is really hot so cool your jets hot shot

  • About every two weeks I find myself coming back to this video. Colins voice seems to be getting better and better with age. I just love this video!!!

  • Such a unique voice! I love it.

  • That was beautiful

  • How can you dislike this?? :\

  • His voice sounds exactly the same after 30 years.

  • Love listening to Colin Hay sing. He actually sounds better in the acoustic version of this song. His voice hasn't gotten trashed like a lot of older famous musicians either.

  • Wow! What a great take on his amazing song. You can actually hear his accent too.

  • THIS SONG ISN'T OVERKILL. IT'S JUST RIGHT!

  • sweetenes voice ever !

  • So Awesome...love Bob and Tom...douche bags in Fart Myers cancelled their show...

  • This is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!

  • Great song, you performed it right on the mark, funky/bluesy/pop rock iconic

  • I don't think he could perform this song any better? Colin Hay is just amazing!

  • Nope, this is in 'E' standard tuning, you can play right along with it.

  • grande colin..

  • Colin is a most amazing entertainer live!!! Not only is he a great musician, but really funny as hell as an entertainer!

  • please guys, I need those chords !!

if you know them, please repeat !!! <3

  • GÄÄSNEHAUT !! :D:D

  • Love the tune but I'd just like to ask Colin something that I've been wanting to know for 30 years ...WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU LOOKING AT!?? :P

  • REPEAT!!!!! :D

  • Scrubs :D

  • @boulevard001 This song means more than scrubs, thats an insult. This song was written in the early 80 about a good friend that died. NOT SCRUBS!

  • @jiggahippo I am very sorry if that hurt your sentiment. I know its a 80s song and I only came to know about this when I heard it in Scrubs. The song is so nice that I digged it down and saw all its versions coming up from 80 to 2011. I am a big fan of Colin Hay now and have listened to all his songs in YouTUBE. He is a gem.

  • @boulevard001 f**k scrubs

  • @Zepster77 f**k scrubs is right. Stupid f'n show, stupid slap dick humor, no intelligence and no relevance. It aint the Python, Hicks, or even Trey Parker and Stone. Maybe Hay should rewatch his Its a mistake Vid, and reapply the MK ultra trickle down that IS shows like Scrubs and the like, which support the transition of warfare from real to ethereal that is society and current culture today. But then again, musician whores will do almost anything for money. I still like the music though.

  • @esfandiari216 time of the month?

  • @esfandiari216 "look how edgy I am"

  • @esfandiari216 I find your ideas fascinating and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Oh wait, there isn't a single fully formed idea in what you said (except "I don't like Scrubs"). Never mind.

  • @esfandiari216 stupid hipster

  • afinadíssimo!!!!! MUITO BOM!!!!

  • Very Special.

  • what a amazing talent

  • you guys dont know what u talkin about... he sings awesome!!!

  • We've all been duped. This is Colin Quinn.

    Wakka Wakka.

  • See!......Somethings are real!.......Not everything is just prepackaged , manufactured, auto-tuned bullshit! Music is and can be real! Some artists are artists This song is nearly 30 years old and Collin can bring it to life as though it were the first time being sung, because he is real!

  • @amsmom1957 i feel nostalgic listening colin hay delivering such a great work, make me feel lucky to have grown up in the time when music was music, when an artists was someone who's skills where well above others. i look around me in this world that idolizes rebecca black, taylor swift and justin beiber, and ask HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?

  • Over the years I've forgotten just how beautiful Colin voice was. If at all possable it's getting better and better as the years go bye?

  • He was brilliant if you think it sucks don't watch it

  • the way he's singing it sucks

  • @MEISTERSZ in the beginning*

  • @MEISTERSZ i hate it too...

  • Combinacao perfeita voz & violao.

  • Just freaking awesome! Colin is a MAN!!!

  • "scrubs brang me here!" totally

  • scrubs brang me here!

  • Absolutely fantastic!

Anyone know what tuning he's using?

  • @Josiahjjr standard E

  • @Josiahjjr standard tuning

  • Please a "like" for this AWESOME Clip !!!!!!

  • I can see why that guy in scrubs smashed his guitar, the way he runs his fingers up and down the fret board is like finger nails down a blackboard.

  • And nice mixing. It sounds great!!

  • Damn it!!! This guy can really pull it off!!!

  • To nit748, If any plumber sang and played like that ,he wouldn't be a plumber, and there,s the differance

  • Not many current singer / guitarists can match that from the point of view of feel and vocal range. Colin Hay is amazing.

  • Damn! Probably one of the top ten favorite songs from the 80's

  • hopefully one day someone sings it, but a piano is played instead of a guitar

  • wow

  • ... wonderful. I like this voice. It were nice if more musican's have the courage to make videos as this.

  • still great colin.

  • There seems to some forgiving with music stars if a plumber came to fix my boiler and I thought at a the 11th hour," fuck he nailed that ",would I wont to recommend him to friends, don't worry I would say he gets there in the end.

  • @nit748 First of all, learn to write. More importantly, wrenches don't suddenly go flat or sharp--voices can and do. Good work, Colin.

  • I fucking hope so too LARSENAL after all he did write the fucking song to nail it is a least we would expect.

  • Amazing. What a beautiful performance. What a profound song.

  • ok seriously .....i think people just dislike things just to do it.....because this song is AWESOME SAUCE!!!

  • How the fuck can somebody dislike that ? jealous of his great voice ?

  • Great performance ... great song ... all this years like first time i heard it !! Thks. for uploading !!

  • Wow! I never realized what a great song this is until hearing this.

  • 3 peoples ghosts didn't fade away.

  • what a great tune!

  • i find it sort of weird this song's become more popular now that Colin's solo...rather than when it was out while he was in Men At Work..

but i digress.. this really suits his voice solo..

  • anyone see what headphones he had? they must be the best, thats why im asking.

  • oh hell yeah

  • And thumbs up. Yes, again.

  • such a beautifull voice <3 !!!!

  • Scrubs Yeaar

  • wow

  • This is a great example of an artist that can perform with everything stripped away. It is so powerful to see someone do this, it's not unlike watching any performer try to perfect their chosen medium. Men at Work hit when I was 12 years old back in 1983 and the music still holds up. Jose Feliciano has a performance like this on You Tube. Jose's cover of Light My Fire is fantastic.

  • i like how noone argues on this guys music :)

  • great

  • makes singing a very hard song look so easy (class)

  • really like the song and the quality of the video, Please check my Makem songs if you get the time please, cheers The Makem Folk Singer

  • This Guy is awesome thanks for upploading :)

  • I hate 80's music. I love this tune!

  • Such an awesome voice

  • these posts appear and fade awayyyy.

  • I met Colin in San Antonio. He's from down under, yeknow.

  • @flyswatter51 Colin hay is from scottlad he moved down under at age 14

  • Kewl!

  • anyone knows what guitar that is?

  • Simply amazing.

  • tabs or chords? I want to play it

  • I miss the 80s. Every Band from that ERA ROCKED!! Journey/ Sting/ Duran Duran / Foreigner/ Bryan Adams/Hughie Lewis/MEN at WORK etc., etc. the 80s were good times
