If you are considering the Sony HX-1 or Canon SX1 IS, you should also consider the Casio EX-F1 because it has a focus ring around the lens, a external mic jack, a hot shoe, a threaded lens for UV filters, and slow motion (if you want a fun bonus). Hard to believe it's from Casio. The problem is the price.

Dude! i need help big time!, i just got my SX1 IS, with 16gb class 4, 60x speed and 9mb per second, my HD vids run fine on camera, but run real shitty on Computer, Qucktime 7 with sound, and smoother (slower) and no sound on WMV why? i have enoff PC power, Win VISTA Home, 8800 GTS Nvidia 320mb, and a AMD 3000+ cpu and a Realtek HD audio card,, also how do u get it running fine on PC? and what you do to get yr vid on youtube here in running order etc pleas help!! thanks....

I think your CPU isn't enough to handle uncompressed 1080p videos. AMD 3000+ is just ancient by today's standarts.

Download free video converter, and convert your videos using a lower bitrate, and try different containers and formats (try avi h264, bitrate +- 5000KBPS). I had the same problem, the videos from the SX1 weren't smooth at all. It may be because the bitrate is too high for your hard drive and processor. It was the case for me. Now, my vids are completely smooth.

First of all, if you're trying to play directly over USB, you shouldn't expect it to work. USB 2.0 isn't fast enough for high quality video. For that, one would want to use FireWire.

Also, for some reason, Windows is unable to decode h.264 video smoothly even on the fastest of PCs. The Macs, however, seem to be able to play this same video flawlessly on machines with significantly lower specs.
