  • This scene breaks my heart. So romantically tragic in the French way.

  • "Je mourais de douleur..." This is probably the most romantic movie of all time.

  • I don't think shes being a bitch. She's stuck in that castle for one, her fathers dying and in the middle of the night, a steaming bloody beast is at her door. Don't you think she'd be a little scared as to why he's creeping at her door? It's not like she is going to invite him in for tea time like that...

  • at least they were smart enough to get one, but to be honest he was hte one to take out a loan or borrow more moey that he has to give back and even thought he would have the money before the father even return with the news of the money or lack of.

  • Does it bother anyone else that the statues move, but never speak? I feel like they should speak!

  • I admit Belle was being a bitch when the beast was hurt. But I mean, her father is dying, the beast loves her, and she's stuck in his castle. But still she's being kinda bitchy

  • Is it me, or is Belle a bit of a bitch? I mean, clearly that man is injured. She should be more compassionate.

  • Avenant be slappin peeps around like a pimp!!!!

  • the beast is so cute. like an animal, his love for belle is unconditional.

  • Best facial expression ever at 2:06. It makes me think of Fan-Boys.

  • 2:01

The Beast is hurted because 'Avenant' in French at this time had both the meaning of 'pleasant, nice' and 'cute' ?The Beast just understand the last meaning.

  • Thank you, am0123! After many, many viewings, I can now watch it while mostly ignoring the subtitles. Thank you!!!!

  • to think just coming out of war time and they could still make such wonderful film as this

  • thats better! i couldnt read the previous one or see it well

  • I like her hairdo. You can't see such wonderful pieces of art at women's heads anymore nowdays.

  • thanks for posting this movie. I have not seen it since high school. We use to watch them on Ch 11 in Chicago. Back in the day when they would show good movies on that channel. This and "Orphee" are the best to me of Jean Cocteau.

  • Me, too, on your Window To The World

  • "But you are an animal."

Damn, what a horrible kick. Poor Beast. D:

  • i know! jeez i wouldnt think belle would say something like that....

  • @kittybirg I know!!!! Ouch!!!

  • @kittybirg Elle a raison.

  • @kittybirg Lol I know, even worse than saying, "Oh, what a good friend!"

  • ...who sleeps with a crown on?

  • Argh, it's so hard to read the susbtitles when it's in strips!

Not that I'm grateful. The fact that you're posting these at all, in strips or not is pretty great of you.

  • thank you. these videos used to be normal sized, but recently some of them started becoming strips. at first it was only part 1, but now it's mutliple parts :( i'm going to try to upload asap

  • Thank you!

  • if you click the hq button it sorts itself out

  • Thank you, as the movie is beautiful in fullscreen--wide screen is not a good format here

  • @JustAPrayer Change the quality. Click on the 360 button and it will change size.

  • His reaction to Avenant breaks my heart ;_;

It's such a great thing, though, that Beauty treats him with kindness, almost like a mother figure.. especially when he's at the door after killing.

  • She doesn't seem kind, more disgusted, angry and horrified. She throws something to him and tells him to clean himself up, but in a disgusted way. She is very confident in her power over him.

  • I don't know about you, but my mother would act disgusted if she saw me behaving that way. She tells him to clean himself up as if she knows that he's worth more than his self-esteem.

  • Weird. He acts in a bestial way because he is under a curse which turned him into a beast. He doesn't do what he does because of lack of self-esteem.

  • Oh, really? Are you saying you wouldn't feel just a little sorry for yourself if you turned into an unattractive furball?

  • Quel joli film! Adrien Alpendre

  • Ludovic should get off his lazy arse & get a job!!

  • C'est parce que le nom de la Bete (avant de devenir bete) etait aussi Avenant...

  • Pourquoi la Bête court de douleur à l'énnoncé du nom de l'amoureux de la Belle, "Avenant". On n'y comprend rien. Merci Monsieur Cocteau.

  • this is where we left off in French class

  • oh my.. im crying with this movie... its so beautiful...
