This tournament was like the ultimate underdog kind of thing for DSP. Gets knocked out when he's so close to the grand prize and fights back up. it's cheesy to say, but it's kinda inspiring. Shows people 1) there's better players out there than Justin Wong. and 2) it shows that if you keep fighting, you'll get to your goal.

If it is properly timed, then yes, the only way to escape is with a reversal. However, many people who call it cheap fail to realize that a properly timed tick throw has the same timing window as a reversal, 1 frame or 1/60th of a second. If it is mistimed then you may have all sorts of options available to you including jumping away.

Hahaha. Back in 94 no one in my area would use throws at all. If someone accidentally got a throw in they would let the other guy get a free throw.

That contrived shit turned everyone into scrubs who couldn't handle aggressive play, much less tick throws. I moved, started playing better players who would actually throw...

Maybe 6 months later I came back to visit and the guys I use to have tough matches against and trashed them.

There's nothing to be gained by limiting yourself.

Balrog's throw loops aren't banned because you actually can get out of it... But there's only one frame of advantage (reversal frame) during which you can escape. This requires a lot of timing...
