There is no other sound like that of a Huey. No othet chopper sounds like it. In Nam, we could hear them coming, we knew it was a Huey. To this day, if I hear one I know what it is before I even look up. IMO, they are the best choppers ever made, God I loved them, especially on pickups,LOL. Riding with the doors open and the Thud thud thud was wicked. The pilots who flew them into some of the worst places and hottest LZ's were the best chopper pilots in the world. They were great.
@onblock7 : She's got a distinctive sound indeed. I'm too young to have been in Viet Nam (wasn't even born when the hostilities ended) but I swear the sound of a Huey brings back memories! I'm in the aviation business so I can tell the sound of many choppers but Bells have the signature sounds nailed!
@daewootango The memory for me is Nam movies and growing up as a kid in the neighborhood and knowing when the Huey is coming by, we live near a marine base so I heard them alot (still do at times). This is my fave helicopter.
@onblock7 : I have a collection of Nam movies (Platoon, Casualties of War, Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Hamburger Hill...I don't have The Deer Hunter...don't like it at all) and they do form a par of the mental imagery. But there's something deeper than what I've seen/heard in the movies, man. Maybe I was there in a different life? LOL!
@daewootango I have felt that before man, but doubt I was there in a different life, although I am drawn to this copter here. I am 33 now, I would have to be a quick up after Nam for this to be my past life lol! I Love the movies most of all and the sounds as a kid in the neighborhood when they flew over.

Only the Huey can have that distinct sound that describes a CHOPPER!
