The difference is he doesnt know what he is talking about. Those are drifts, a power slide is when you kick the back end out coming out of the turn using the throttle. A drift is a combination of braking and throttle through out the turn.

And someone negged my comment. Hah. Thats the point I was going to make though, sadly the guy never commented back to me. Many of these slides are initiated by added rotational momentum, not by sheer power. The fact these guys are sliding well before the apex is enough proof of this (generaly).

Of course this all depends on your definition of "drifting" anyways.

all types of cars can drift, but the best are the Rear wheel ones. All wheel may be too stable for some drifters, as it will automatically return to its straight position, and its too stable.

u might wanna look up "To Drift" in a vocabulary or look it up. FWD can drift (as long as they start it before the apex of the turn, its drifting.

And about your comment : drifting is not doing donuts, because that a FWD cant do (unless reverse lol).

FWD drifting is harder then RWD because u need to get speed and angle right before the turn comes, once in it u cant "accelerate", on RWD u can play with it during the turn since u can put power to the ground.

You can't drift with a FWD, simply because drifting is the technique of over spining the rear wheels so it will over slide a lot more comparing to the front of the car.

Drifting is extremely harder to what people think. Keeping the right throttle pressure while balancing the car and using the handbrake must be understand and well execute to perform a good drift.

FWD can only power slide but nothing more.

Extremely good drivers (such has them) can drift with 4WD cars.

if you talk to a porfessional drifter they will tell you that can in fact drift with a RWD car it is just much more difficult i was at HIN Hot Import Nights where they had some pro drifters and i asked him and he said that you could u just need a powerful car and there is a little bit diffrent way to get the car to start at HIN they where drifting with FWD cars

Like I said, drifting is the technique to make your rear wheels break (to gain heat and be slick) and then spin out from the temperature gain so the back of the car will turn faster than the front.

Drifting as defined is when a cars slip angle of the rear tires exceed that of the front causing the front to grip and the rear to slip, maintaining a high exit speed this can be done with a front wheel drive...it's hard you do need the ebrake in a lot of cases or scandanavian flick then controlling how much ebrake the rear tires are still turning, so they are considered to have a higher slip angle and still need countersteering...so still a drift man.

The maker of this video is a piece of shit. He just stole a couple clips about specific rally events (which repeat the same bend taken on by multiple racers one by one) and skipped the boring ones. This is not drifting it is using the parking brake to whip around a narrow, low-speed hairpin, and it is certainly not the most impressive thing in "rally history". Like i said the one who made this video is an ignorant bumpkin who likes to mis-inform.
