alright heres a tip for all you guys, I have the formula 500 too and what im doing is I have a 2 piece pipe sitting around and im going to cut the end of the 1st piece off and weld it onto my formula pipe where I cut it at and then you have a 2 piece pipe just need a can and who knows maybe another stock can off another sled could make it sound good to. when it comes to back-pressure its only sensitive in the fat pipe rather than the canso dont worry about blowing ur sled up.

be careful running a upsize pipe, burned my formula s 380 up running a pipe off a formula sl 500, 2 strokes are very sensitive to backpressure and will run lean with less backpressure

yeal we played with the jetting a little, the sled was topping out around 160 km/h. can't really tell what the final jetting was because before it was tuned it was changed to a 606 stroker and everything was changed again.

we couldn't put a can on my buddys 500 because it was all one pipe. the easyest thing was to change the pipe and find a can that would fit.

sorry I can't give you much information on this because it was only a 500 for a short while. He did go up a size on the main jets, everthing else was left stock. we did play with the setup but time we got it all worked out the 500 became a 606 stroker and everthing was changed again.

Give it a try and let me know how you make out. If you run that pipe KEEP CHECKING YOU PLUGS to see if the motor is running hot, a good place to start is to use 50 for the main jets

We never had to change a thing If anything it was runnin a little rich. We had to make a little spacer for the pipe ( 1" or a little more) then the pipe dropped right in

well we put the pipe on and dropped 2 teeth on the top gear and only losted about 5 km/h but what we gained on the bottom end was unbeleavable. The only thing is the ski doo takes a little longer to warm up but thats a small prise to pay lol As long as its well tuned to begain with you'll love the 670 pipe

ya if your running a little rich it's a good idea to jet down abit me i think i have the older jet's they are 290 and 310.o ya the pipe i put on it's a 02 mxz and a mbrp silincer man they sound wicked sound like the new model's 2day's. but had to keep original manifold on the motor.I hav'int put on the original 500 head's yet had to customize it more like had to make the radias wider there should b abit more power like 5-6 ma b like the psi heads.

wow sound great!! i have a 500 crank at 68.5 mm with 583 sleeves at 68.0 mm it a great abng for the buck should check it out make sure u gat right sleeves cause there are other 583 sleeves a little smaller. but fit lake a glove and like iwth 15 to 20% more horse power!!!!

Thanks for the comment about the sound but the ski doo doesn't sound like that anymore lol. The ski doo is now a 606 stroker, same set up you have. Just started to set up the carbs and things like that. What jetting did you use on your carbs, seems like mine is running rich on the polit I got a 55 on there now thinking of going down a size to a 50

with my formula 500 sl ive had it up to 120km/h and the tach was saying like 7500/8000 rpm and the highest it goes it 9000 so i would say about 130/135ish for top speed, but maybe thats just mine i bought it used

top speed for a stock formula should be alot higher then that, around 150-160km/h. Try checking your jetting on your carbs they might be too large. Also seen like your running out of steam way to early check yours clutches too

the cans for the 500 are becomming harder and harder to find. the only thing i can really tell you is to get a pipe for a 670 and then get a " do - it - yourself can" from jaws. you'll have to do some welding but these kits are really good. i just put one on a 550f rev, really easy

just a word of advice. u may wanta gear down a ton. 500 don;t have much "nut" to go far and deep with bigger lugs then 1 inch. idk how they will reach with a 151.

We never had a problem with the motor it ran just fine all year and there were alot of hard riding done. The jetting on the carbs was high enought were we didn't even have to rejet.

kk so another question..did u have the 500 top end in the video..how did it run..i want to put a can on my 99 formula 500 liqued but i cant cuz of the pipe/can being welded together...would it harm my stock 500 engine with just cluthing done to it?

In the video the ski doo is all 500, nothing has been changed. You can really use your stock pipe and just weld a can on it because you have to keep the volume of the pipe the same. Get a stock pipe for any 670 and then put a can on that. Thats about it we didn't even have to change the jetting in the carbs. You will lose about 10 to 15 kmh on the top end but on the bottom end will be unbeleaveable, just look how easy the ski doo dose cat walks.

this is the motor that came with the sled. the only thing we done with it in all those years was replace a seal for the oil injection. but the 500 is not more we done some work to the motor and changed it to a 606 stroker ( the bottom end is still from the 500 just changed the top end)

sounds like you have a little fueling problem , another thing to check are you plug wires and caps, not like its going to hert to change them anyway. Top speed on my buddy ski doo is 170 kmh but we dropped a gear size to get better bottom end
