Heavy metal talks for kids. It express the anger of growing up but also of living in the actual society. So I would say that society also created heavy metal. Heavy metal is, in some way, the cure against today's society.

When we hear that a kid commited suicide while listening to heavy metal, people always jump to conclusions and say that music pushed him to do what he did when it is, in most of the case, the contrary. Why would the person during the last minutes of his life rather listen to his favorite song that do anything else like seeing his friends and family? Because music is the only thing that worths for him. Music gave him hope. But sadly, it was not enough.

Like singer Alice Cooper once said:''There's just no way anybody writes a song that makes a kid commit suicide. Every time a kid kills himself they're trying to see what records he listens to, instead of what's happening to him at home.''

When Judas Priest was accused, in 1989 of writing a song that encouraged two young people to commit suicid, the verdict of the jury was that the two young brothers ''had both suffered miserable lifelong physical abuse at the hands of alcohol-ravaged families.'' And most of the times, it is the obstacles that the person had to pass through that pushes him to suicide and not the music itselfs.

It's really funny how this guy says that christians have broken pride and arrogance. The most proud and arrogant people I have met and read have been christian fundamentalists--and islamic fundamentalists. Mostly just fundamentalists...hmmm..

I don't agree with everything organized christianity has done, but that statement is just asinine. The only crimes i can think of in the name of God was Christians blowing up abortion clinics or killing the doctors. And those people were screwed up and if it wasn't in the name of God it would have been something else.

Do i know the history of Christianity yes i do. And do i need you to school me on the history of violence that was done in the name of Christianity. Like the Salem Witch Trials, that was supposedly done in the name of Christ, which was more in the name of greed for the land and possesions of single or widowed women. If you want to go to the begining of time, then yes I agree more crimes have been committed in the name of Christianity than rock, since Rock has only been around for 50 years.

My point is that you can pick out any group, whether it be christians,muslims,people of the jewish faith, europeans, caucasion, african-americans, and you can go through their history and pick and choose a lot of incidents of ignorance. Humans have just been historically ignorant, that react on fear and impulse. And people single out christians and their faults, which i can understand to a point. After awhile these comments just come off as getting old, and i find them asinine.

you're correct about the different groups but here we're talking about christians pointing a holier than thou finger at rock and roll and even if you start from the 40's, more crimes have been commited in the name of god than rock and roll. what's getting old is christians singling out groups, calling them evil, like they themselves are squeaky clean and someone defending christians when the truth about them is told.
