@NDNSupport No wrong again. @NDNSupport It would be greate if you occupy my home and relocate me! In fact I'd be glad too, as long as you do like the Brazilian government is doing: with full compensation and life-long assistance (which they already have, funded by taxpayers). People are being forcefully relocated to build new subway lines and roads worldwide, where is the outrage?
@NDNSupport So Americans reap the benefits of genocide but Brazilians have to endure poverty and expensive energy just because they didn't kill the Indians when it was OK... right... even though not a single Brazilian Indian will be killed, just relocated with full compensation and government assistance by trained anthropologists...
The whole world can develop and have energy, China displaced 2 million people for its huge hydro. Where is the petition to destroy it? Pure injustice.
@IndianLand25 It angers your EGO? So why are u not fighting to return the Mississippi valley to native americans and destroy 90% of the US agriculture? Why don't YOU make a sacrifice instead of demanding it from poor locals who just want a better life, like the one you have because you profit from the same development u hypocritically want to prevent others from having?
The illegal timber is turned into plywood and is exported to other parts of Asia. It is also used to build furniture for Japanese, European and U.S. markets. The island of Kalimantan's valuable old growth, called meranti (Philippine mahogany), is used for hardwood flooring and provides wood trim for luxury automobiles
In 1973 the United States Government once more declared War on the Native Americans. There was a lot of corruption in government officials who had access to Indian Reservations. Adding insult to injury, one of the worst was at The Pine Ridge Reservation. One agent, a man who was supposed to be there for the betterment and protection of the Tribal Peoples, was responsible for at least 60 executions of the same Indians he was in office to protect
The U.S. Congress has directed the Forest Service to clearcut National Forests on behalf of wealthy and powerful timber and paper corporations. These corporations have bought political influence with Congress to pass laws that liquidate our priceless public forests for private profit
It seems that Brazil still live in the age of colonialism when authorities, big corporations and other exploiters just thought they could invade and steal other peoples land without anyone protesting. But today we live in an age of mass communication. Now the world will know about invasions, destruction of environment and displacement of indigenous peoples.
These are matters of human rights and about trying to preserve the environment that not only concerns Brazil but the whole world.
"The Final letter of mobilisation in defense of the Xingu/Amazon; against the belo Monte" So many dams and projects will be the beginning of the END of the Amazon..a TORAL exploitation, destruction in the end. We are NOT against brazil getting eneregy BUT not in the Amazon.Authorities lie to us. This also NOT a National matter (for all you racistst out there) ONE;LOVE! Stand up!
@SiouxSyndicate Not in the Amazon? The Amazon is the most protected major ecosystem on Earth, while other Brazilian ecosystems are far more threatened. If this powerplant is not built, they will build it elsewhere, displacing more people or worse, using fossill fuels instead of clean hydro.
We must simply take down the system..nothing to believe in if we let this continue..its sad but I truly believe we have to consider violence all over the world against the responsible powers. Make sure we get the right ones.
DIANTE DE MUITA DISCUSSÃO SOBRE PRESERVAÇÃO, UM DIPLOMATA BRASILEIRO PERGUNTOU A UM AMERICANO POR QUE ELES CONTINUAM DESMATANDO AS MATAS DAS MONTANHAS ROCHOSAS NA TERRA DELES.

-SE PARARMOS DE DES.MATAR; OS AMERICANOS FICARÃO DESEMPREGADOS.
Yankees go home, go take care of your FUCKIN oil spills or something. Hands off Brazil!!!
people have the ability to live in the natural world but chose meaningless materials...think about great architecture from the Greek and Roman times taking decades to build to honor their gods which we still travel just to see these pieces of art.compared with the mass race to build cement buildings just to fuel consumerism and horde money.which is in fact meaningless because money is a social construct and it only transient while nature is life+ permanent+awes us or have we forgotten that
WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO WHATEVER WE INTEND TO TOWARDS THAT REGION!!
IF YOU CAN DO IN YOUR COUNTRY, WHY CAN'T WE IN OURS?
THE AMAZON DOES NOT BELONG TO INDIANS ALONE BUT TO THE REST OF BRAZILIAN PEOPLE, SO WE DO NEED TECHNOLOGY IN THIS AREA FOR POOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE OVER THERE.
YOU DONT AGREE?
GO AND HELP TO CLEAN THE GULF OF MEXICO, I THINK THERE IS STIL OIL LEFT OF THERE TO BE CLEANED.
Indians 'don't produce anything' because the only need what comes from the earth its self and don't need iphones and shit to produce like the modern humans do..
@IndianLand25 no problem my friend.....Most of the time i just wished these idiots would consider for one second what they are infact doing....The other day i was on my mountain bike i decided to do my nature cycle.
When i noticed they were cutting down the forest it really saddened me and i felt a part of me was lost. Those trees are our lungs. What they are doing is committing the destruction of our planet :(
im sick of the elitist idiots performing these ILLEGAL acts of fascism. When the day of reckoning comes it will be the ones furthest away from the planet who will die first. Those closer to the planet will have a chance. Good luck all and make the right choices within your skin. This is our world

@SiouxSyndicate Except that the current Brazilian president is a socialist woman and the previous president who restarted this project was a socialist union leader born in povery who sold cotton candy in the streets to survive and reached power fighting for workers rights and poverty reduction. Poverty reduction needs clean renewable hydropower. While you are just a puppet of Hollywood and the media.
@linghun Mr Lula was NOT a socialist at all and to be honest..go to hell with all your fake democracy nonsense talking..go on..kill your forests, yourself. Who cares about you, NOT your goverment ..in this way at least.( haha..I mean COMPANIES) ..(I do btw..) Onelove
@SiouxSyndicate You are just a mindless puppet of Hollywood ideology. Besides the number of indians displaced will be ZERO, no Indigenous lands will be affected by the dam or the lake. ZERO.
How much does the fossil fuel industry pay you to fight against clean renewable hydropower?
@linghun Do you know how much forest is taken already and how big the turf is they will take by this..it simply cant go on..the ouil companies ruin much as well..in fact they are all mafia..so I dont take their money lol..im sincere and with love.
I would almost bet that simontimon2 is a Christian...your values are shining through...what a joke. Christianity equals capitalism, equals materialism.
That is YOUR worldview...not many others.
We must come to the understanding that all life is valuable.
To the least of my people...remember those words?...I didn't think so.
An assumption develops that you cannot understand life and live life simultaneously
Acorda Brasil.
The 'Indians' should fight back... brainwashed, deadbeat, TV drones won't fight back unless you hit the mute button or take the remote away. Don't look at America for its progressive way of life; it doesn't exist. What you will get is loss of control over your life, land, thoughts... incredible debt, less education, poisons created by pharma instead of natural remedies.. Nothing is as it seems, and there are ulterior motives indeed.
Well put klonedklien. Empire building and 'Industrialization' are Zionist sponsered and part of their Agenda. Always sugarcoated for the masses of Sheeple to digest and eventually be controlled with. Time for real change. Not the state sponsered kind brought by IMF, CFR, Trilateral Monsters.
@klonedklein Nonetheless the main complaint of the Indians with the dam is that it will cut access to nearby cities where they usually go for medical care and medication, I guess traditional medicine mumbojumbo is not that great after all.
What they truly don't understand is that 'modern' man and ideas destroy harmony and balance of all life systems. Someone will profit and the energy will not be given freely now will it? There are underwater turbines that can generate energy, along with wind and solar. WASTING energy to light cities at night for looks is a waste. Low level solar lights would be fine-we have the tech. Destroying peoples not needing power for modern man is ludicrous; they operate on lies/propaganda to be sure.
Why do we need so much energy???? So everyone can plug into FOX at night? Sit in front of TVs all the time? Talk on the cell phone 24/7? It is greed, nothing more. Like I said, we have the technologies that do not destroy on grand proportions. If Meyers HHO device worked, it could be hooked up to sea water and generate power. If a little more research is needed, we surely have it; stop the billions on war and devote it to what we need most.. clean tech. Then the war distraction would stop
@klonedklein No, it's more like hospitals and schools can have power, people can get jobs, raise their children, get out of poverty, etc. In Brazil, the average person consumes 7 times less power than the average American, so I suggest you campaign to undam the Colorado river and reforest the Mississippi valley, making 50 million Americans lose their jobs, and then you tell poor Amazonians how to run their lives.
my favoured fantasy:some big city wimp mayor standing on age of the jungle - like this indian- and cry for help" the jungle spreads over our cities! nature is pushing us away!bhuaaaa!animals are safe and strong, nature is winning over decadent civilisation!' that is my dream
@justicenoapart So let's all fight to destroy all buildings of Manhattan and return the island to the Indians, we cannot let one country run that beatiful island forever. It has to be run by the whole world.
Yes let us all have jobs that create markets that kill indeed .............. do not make a fire ...if a tree falls in the forest does anyone hear???????????????????
If you are worried about the Amazon, then maybe head out to your local library or furniture store or music store. Then complain about where they buy their wood from. For instance, a lot of musical instruments are made from Amazonian wood. Go to Florida, you'll see a lot of tropical birds, rare birds of paradise privately owned. US and Europe have created a market for environmental crimes and their people won't back down. They all think it's not *they* who do it. Fucking hypocrites.
We are all to blame...caught between two worlds the indigenous an the non .. no roots, capitalism, intellectualism, industrialism, ism ism ism feminism all uprisings of one form or another supply, demand hypocrites who is not I would love to live in tent but where the hell would I plug this damn computer. I think someone invented that word to use in an argument when all else fails. Is it really a bad thing or just part of what makes us all human????
They make solar sheets for your computer... anyway, you are right we are stuck. Only the few live high, while most barely survive--that is not capitalism, but communism and fascism. We do generate enough power and waste a LOT of power... Why do we feel the need to light up monuments at night.. do you have ANY idea of how much energy could be saved if we just stopped lighting up courthouses? High-rises? etc. etc. etc. WE WASTE and waste and more energy created will get wasted. Conserve.
And what about what they want? They are humans not savages and their culture deserves to stay alive!! Life is going to be the dullest when we all look act think and talk the same.
Well spoken. The modern world never care about what the indians want. Never listen. Always selfish attitudes thinking they know better, as the Earth dies. Well done kola.
They need to civilize those savages and build that damn. People can't stay in the stone age. It is not fair to them or fair to their offspring to stay in a closet in the 21st. century. Give them a college education and give them a job.
When did they did drop humanities from college calendars? I was not aware they had a Bachelor of Arts in the profanities ... from what college did you get your degree?
"Indians don't produce anything" your right about that - pollution, deforestation, destruction, despair, - let us produce until there is nothing left - build a dam - damn you! The true Lords and Ladies of the land you stand upon held sacred the land - would not be so beautiful and pristine if left up to "foreign investment" .... spit
welcome to modernization folks. Progress can not be stopped . It is unfortunate but a way of life/ The survival of the fittest. The populations go up and consume more and more .. It can not be turned back as much as we like to believe it can. My heart goes out to the folks being displaced. to survive they will have to move into the 21st century or be swallowed up ... so sad
Listen to what you said - it is almost the same as why live if your going to die? Now I know what Bruce Hornsby was saying while singing his hit song "That's the way it is... things will never change". The epitome indeed!!!!! Do not give your heart use your head.
I am sorry MasterMark but progress has been getting many messages and it would seem we keep ignoring them. Indeed progress will what will eventually bring this planet and universe to it's knees. Indigenous populations know the warning signs and read them like book and watch the animals they know too ... if only we would listen they apparently know something we do not because as soon as man in the name of progress does his invade everythings begins to fade.. like the sunset
Mundo abastecimento alimentar mergulhar, alterações climáticas, as espécies ameaçadas e culturas ... Isso não irá beneficiar a região, nem mesmo o mundo. Hydro Damn tecnologia é notícia velha, se eles fornecidos eólica e solar, então isso custará muito menos em termos de dinheiro, tempo e impacto ecológico.
The reason they don't want to supply the modern technology of wind a solar is because a Hydro Damn will lock people into buying from that one source. Another elitist ploy for a monopoly.
@linghun R and D is expensive however technology as it is today is inexpensive both in monetary and eternal costs.
On another note, the opening derogatory comment was a conscious or unconscious tactic in distancing your own comment form it's association : "Your comment is bullshit, therefor mine is not.". However you like to qualify your opinions, mine are based in facts and the reality leans towards my views.
@calster31 We are all natives to the Earth, no one is more native than the others. The powerplant's revenue will be used to foster their protection and safe relocation. Environmentalism is the new way the elites found to screw the common guy, using Indians as astroturfing material, etc. Wake up are you that naive do you think this anti-dam campaign is pure goodness and no intere$t?
Capitalism without concern for the wellbeing of humans and the planet is just a form of mental illness. Just think if a family member only thought about making money all the time and nothing else....Capitalism is not balanced and tends toward aggregation and monopolies.
Capitalism necessarily leads to global "economy". Global economy is just a misleading way of saying global capitalism. Capitalists will control and allocate resources not the people. Who would you rather have in charge of food and water? People like yourself or Rockefellers, Halliburton and Bechtel?
For a little while, wait until energy prices really skyrocket, people will be open to more options. Sadly by then it may be to late to avoid really major disruptions though. The opposition to things like hydro, nuclear and wind really astound me. Sure there's local issues to be addressed with any large scale construction, but the blanket opposition to them is pretty indefensible, especially given their alternatives.
@studio7manga Once again an excellent thoughtful comment. But environmentalists are on a rampage against any industrial activity. They now are saying electric cars are evil because it will require vast strip mining in Bolivia for lithium; solar panels are dirty because they will require vast mining, plastics and energy to build, etc. They will fight against anything, until we all go back to the stone age. And if its in the Amazon, their rage will be multiplied 1000 fold.
Heh, I didn't know about the electric car and solar opposition, though I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I wonder if someone suggested going back to a purely agrarian society they'd get opposition for destroying so many forests, or a hunter gather society because they were exploiting nature too much. I wouldn't put it past some environmentalists. Seems to me that a lot of people in that camp base at least part of their position on self-hatred, or misanthropy.
@studio7manga Yes it is largely an emotional phenomenon. Greens, like religious people, think they are on a holy crusade to save everyone, and iat first they will pretend they want development and progress by promoting electric cars and solar and wind, but when they notice these too will require huge strip mining and kill birds etc. they soon turn against them. Everything is unsustainable, except the death of humanity. 20 years from now they will oppose hunter gatherers for making stone tools.
Pathetic!?...Just another example of creepedy-crapedy-corporate-ruthless-rotten-spirited-mongrels at work where they most definitely SHOULD NOT BE WORKING!? MY HEART AND THOUGHT ARE WOTH ALL THE PEOPLE OF THE AMAZON IN SOUTH AMERICA.

linghun 11 months ago
@NDNSupport So Americans reap the benefits of genocide but Brazilians have to endure poverty and expensive energy just because they didn't kill the Indians when it was OK... right... even though not a single Brazilian Indian will be killed, just relocated with full compensation and government assistance by trained anthropologists...
The whole world can develop and have energy, China displaced 2 million people for its huge hydro. Where is the petition to destroy it? Pure injustice.
linghun 11 months ago
@IndianLand25 It angers your EGO? So why are u not fighting to return the Mississippi valley to native americans and destroy 90% of the US agriculture? Why don't YOU make a sacrifice instead of demanding it from poor locals who just want a better life, like the one you have because you profit from the same development u hypocritically want to prevent others from having?

The illegal timber is turned into plywood and is exported to other parts of Asia. It is also used to build furniture for Japanese, European and U.S. markets.

@SiouxSyndicate Not in the Amazon? The Amazon is the most protected major ecosystem on Earth, while other Brazilian ecosystems are far more threatened. If this powerplant is not built, they will build it elsewhere, displacing more people or worse, using fossill fuels instead of clean hydro.

bigcree 2 years ago
@klonedklein Nonetheless the main complaint of the Indians with the dam is that it will cut access to nearby cities where they usually go for medical care and medication, I guess traditional medicine mumbojumbo is not that great after all.
linghun 11 months ago
What they truly don't understand is that 'modern' man and ideas destroy harmony and balance of all life systems. Someone will profit and the energy will not be given freely now will it? There are underwater turbines that can generate energy, along with wind and solar. WASTING energy to light cities at night for looks is a waste. Low level solar lights would be fine-we have the tech. Destroying peoples not needing power for modern man is ludicrous; they operate on lies/propaganda to be sure.
klonedklein 3 years ago
Why do we need so much energy???? So everyone can plug into FOX at night? Sit in front of TVs all the time? Talk on the cell phone 24/7? It is greed, nothing more. Like I said, we have the technologies that do not destroy on grand proportions. If Meyers HHO device worked, it could be hooked up to sea water and generate power. If a little more research is needed, we surely have it; stop the billions on war and devote it to what we need most.. clean tech. Then the war distraction would stop
klonedklein 3 years ago
@klonedklein No, it's more like hospitals and schools can have power, people can get jobs, raise their children, get out of poverty, etc. In Brazil, the average person consumes 7 times less power than the average American, so I suggest you campaign to undam the Colorado river and reforest the Mississippi valley, making 50 million Americans lose their jobs, and then you tell poor Amazonians how to run their lives.
linghun 11 months ago

People need jobs. If people on the Amazon knew how to, say, work in the IT industry then they wouldn't chop wood just for cooking dinner, right?
Besides, if the US and Europe weren't huge markets for rare (=near extinct) Amazonian wood, then there wouldn't be a market for it.
But all you need to do is search YouTube for "tables" and you'll see...
DreamOfTurtles 3 years ago

jodyrea 3 years ago 2
If you are worried about the Amazon, then maybe head out to your local library or furniture store or music store. Then complain about where they buy their wood from. For instance, a lot of musical instruments are made from Amazonian wood. Go to Florida, you'll see a lot of tropical birds, rare birds of paradise privately owned. US and Europe have created a market for environmental crimes and their people won't back down. They all think it's not *they* who do it. Fucking hypocrites.

High-rises? etc. etc. etc. WE WASTE and waste and more energy created will get wasted. Conserve.

It's greed not Capitalism.
Capitalism lets the greed be increased, yes.
But the problem is in the global economy not a system of free market.
asperin 3 years ago 2
Capitalism necessarily leads to global "economy". Global economy is just a misleading way of saying global capitalism. Capitalists will control and allocate resources not the people. Who would you rather have in charge of food and water? People like yourself or Rockefellers, Halliburton and Bechtel?
gravelin08 3 years ago 4
Not a state, or a government of today.
They are controlled by the criminals you just named.
Nationalized needs like water would be fair, but not other smaller industries.

The priority should be the vanishing of the global elite.

studio7manga 3 years ago
@studio7manga finally a sensible constructive criticism. I agree. But the enviro-nuts will never allow it. We live in a Green dictatorship now.
linghun 11 months ago
@linghun
For a little while, wait until energy prices really skyrocket, people will be open to more options. Sadly by then it may be to late to avoid really major disruptions though. The opposition to things like hydro, nuclear and wind really astound me. Sure there's local issues to be addressed with any large scale construction, but the blanket opposition to them is pretty indefensible, especially given their alternatives.
studio7manga 11 months ago
@studio7manga Once again an excellent thoughtful comment. But environmentalists are on a rampage against any industrial activity. They now are saying electric cars are evil because it will require vast strip mining in Bolivia for lithium; solar panels are dirty because they will require vast mining, plastics and energy to build, etc. They will fight against anything, until we all go back to the stone age. And if its in the Amazon, their rage will be multiplied 1000 fold.
linghun 11 months ago
@linghun
Seems to me that a lot of people in that camp base at least part of their position on self-hatred, or misanthropy.
studio7manga 11 months ago
@studio7manga Yes it is largely an emotional phenomenon. Greens, like religious people, think they are on a holy crusade to save everyone, and iat first they will pretend they want development and progress by promoting electric cars and solar and wind, but when they notice these too will require huge strip mining and kill birds etc. they soon turn against them. Everything is unsustainable, except the death of humanity. 20 years from now they will oppose hunter gatherers for making stone tools.
