@DowaShmiffy I went to the Cardiff gig in June too. I travelled all the way from South America (Venezuela - where Javier grew up) to be there... I was front row center! I agree about Kelly's voice, it was so powerful. Hands down the best gig I've ever attended. Totally worth the long trip!
@DowaShmiffy yeah i know what you mean, when local boy was playing i think everyone was just in awe and really appreciating it! it's amazing what one band can do for 30,000 people, i still think morfa was better, but this probably beats any other gig! hope it comes out on DVD
spot on! i was at the cardiff gig last week too and they completely reassured me that they're still the same band live that i fell in love with 12 years ago, my only complaint is i wish the drums were as hard as when stuart used to hit them! but they still have the same momentum and power that the band had back in the day! your spot on about kelly's voice too, best i've ever heard them
gotta agree with that one! they haven't been the same band since JEEP was released in my opinion, soon as they started to play local boy slowly live, they changed!
I don't mind them changing its just they went from being a really unique band to being rather dismal.
I hate Mr Writer, it reminds yours truly of sitting in a rental car in 2001 April being hauling it around England along with Get your freak on my Missy Elliot and Gorrillaz Sunshines. Not a good combination for a holiday perhaps, and england not exactly scenic - no offense to anyone who lives in England.
I've never been a fan of Mr Writer in the studio, but I'll give kelly his due, the song live is much better, it has an extended outro where he really gets to push his vocals towards the end!
I kinda look at the phonics as two different bands now, back in the day of word gets around and performance & cocktails, they nailed it. everything about the band was just simply stunning, and the songs back then still fit in with today's music as well! Just a shame i don't think that with the new stuff :(
@hellisforheroes Innocent was the best song Kelly Jones had written since 1999, but the rest of the album is just a wannbe Word Gets Around...................what can you do though????'
I honest to the lord hope that the three of them reform for the next album.........something going to happen..................................you can sense it.
true, but Cable is so sour about his sacking when it was his own fault, he continually blame Kelly. Unfair on Kelly who did the right thing. Plus, Javier Weyler is a good drummer, and Cable bitches about him aswell!!!
The best Stereophonics live together with Live from "Dakota"

Stereophonics are'nt the Sterophonics anymore - its the Kelly Jones Quartet, they have'nt released a great album in years.
Innocent was a good song but the rest of the Keep Calm and carry on was pretty middle of the road stuff.
