  • When they zoom in to the dog in the end i couldn't stop laughing.

  • Monica Geller

  • Julie you are the best ever.. love edtv.. love this recipe..thank you

  • @EllaBella1099 Thanks!! So happy that you love EDTV!

  • Vegetarianism is a load of horse shit. I can't believe people are sabotaging their bodies because they feel bad for the animals ahahaaaaaaaahahahaa

  • @LOLMAN22 okay you are a load of horseshit. Now that we have made that abundantly clear please shove this post directly up your gaping ass.

  • @LOLMAN22 Wait, how are we sabotaging out bodies? Omnivores seem to be ignorant when it comes to vegetarian and vegan nutrition. Seitan is full of protein, same with beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, and leafy greens. All contain iron. Nutritional yeast has B12 in it.

  • @CuteandCreepy123 First of all any product derived from wheat is bad for the human digestion system and so are beans and lentils. There are many docs, books & studies that point that wheat consumption should be avoided. I am pretty sure eating wheat leads to leptin resistance... Eating a protein rich (animal protein) keeps body full and energetic for a longer period of time. Our ancestors ate meat, wheat is a recent "discovery" and our bodies don't take it well...google it for more info

  • @LOLMAN22: You bring up an interesting point, however I can't help but ask: What difference does it make to you if people choose not to eat meat? I personally find absolutely nothing wrong with eating animals, but refuse to support the abuses and recklessness of industrialized slaughterhouses. The body may not be designed to tolerate a wheat-saturated diet (it definitely isn't), but it isn't designed to tolerate the antibodies & bacteria found in most mass-marketed meat products, either.

  • @LOLMAN22 You fail at trolling. Good day, sir.

  • Can I find these ingredients at vons or do I have to travel to one of those fancy grocery stores?

  • i'd bone her!

  • Dear Suzan,

I`ve tried your recipe, but it didn`t turned out like ribs, just one BIG puff (as if I added much yeast in a dough). Do you know where I did the mistake? Would appreciate your advise.

  • @xxYourLadyxx Are you using Vital Wheat Gluten? If not, that could be the issue. Also, these have to be grilled first. Straight out of the oven they are not at all rib like.

  • @everydaydish

    I use a normal gluten flour (seitan powder), but I don`t know if it`s made from whole grains, or just from wheat flour;

    The problem is, when they turn out like a puff, they look like a huge roll with no content, in the inside is just nothing - like a ball ;)); So i can`t even cut them again, to make look like ribs and grill them;

I `ve ordered another gluten flour, it seems a bit different, I have to try out. Do you think it`s because of the different gluten? ( I live in germany)

  • @xxYourLadyxx I don't think you are using pure vital wheat gluten. It can be confusing, as sometimes high gluten flours can be labeled similarly, but they are just wheat flour with a high gluten content. If you can find Vital wheat gluten, not gluten flour, that should work. The dough should not puff at all. I know here in the states it can be confusing too with this issue. There's sometimes even a difference between brands. I hope this helps! Good luck!

  • @everydaydish

    Ok thank you!!

  • you remind me Sandra Ballok :P

  • Im really not kidding when i say that is the exact same recipe that my homemade dog treat recipe book uses to make one of the types of biscuits. Just minus the BBQ sauce and grilling.

  • u rock!keep adding recpies please!!thank you.

  • So simple :)

  • that makes me sad i cant eat that cause of gluten

  • You are SO great, I love how you explain everything so well, whenever I see gluten recipes, I'm like... yeah, too difficult; but you talk about brand names, possible problems that can come up, and all sorts of tips, I'll try this soon 4 sure. Thanx!!

  • Peanut butter has fish oils in it. I assume Susan meant soybutter substitute?

  • @synthetickat does organic peanut butter have fish oils in it?

  • @DarkAnt0nio No, there's no fish oils in peanut butter.

  • @synthetickat I don't know what brand of peanut butter you're buying, but I've never seen fish oil in peanut butter ever.

  • @everydaydish "Jif Omega-3 peanut butter" contains anchovy and sardine oil.

  • @synthetickat Your on crack. Read the label. It's peanuts, oil and salt and the oil is always a vegetable oil.

  • OR!! You can just go to veganstore dot c o m like any sane person would and buy the veggie rib mix which only takes a moment to mix up you can have your veggie ribs done and ready to eat in about 20 mins. And they are damn delishous!!

  • Oh I used "nutritional yeast seasoning" i hope that is close enough?

  • I'm not a vegetarian nor a vegan but these are okay. You're right they are better after they been in the fridge overnight.

  • mmmmm i want some :D

  • How do you get invited to read the blog. I tried to go to it and was rejected due to not being invited.

  • That's wierd 313Healthyme. Go to our website everydaydish(dot)tv and both blogs are there, plus all of the recipes & videos.

  • @everydaydish ok, very nice blog. The one you mention in this vid is fat free vegan. That's the one that requires an invitation. But I like the everydaydish one so it's alright if there is no invite to the fat free vegan blog

  • Here you go: blog(dot)fatfreevegan(dot)com

The Fatfree Vegan kitchen Blog is open to everyone.

  • Wow! love this one as well. Thanks so much!

  • Yummy summer coming!!! or even great for super bowl idea!!

  • Looks great, I'll have to try some time.

  • what a sweet dog!

  • I had veggie ribs and the ya re so tasty! Meat alternatives are not only for vegetarians, but people who seek a healthier alternative to meat.

  • can this recipe be made in advance?

for example can i make this this recipe, bake it, put it in the fridge and than grill it the next day ?

  • I haven't tried it that way Kayla, but I would imagine that it would work. Actually, when I make these, I think that they're even better the next day. The texture is even better.

I'd love to hear how it works for you.

  • this is an amazing recipe!!!

  • You can love animals, just don't LOVE animals.

  • It always makes me sad to see how many nice seitan recipes there are, as there is no real gluten-free alternative, while most other ingredients can be substituted. :(

  • I know, that sucks - but you can make wonderful grilled tofu

  • haha!! look at the dog at the end!!

  • no measurements hah !!!! just guess

  • The entire recipe can be printed from our website everydaydish(dot)tv

  • I didn't go vegetarian because I hate the texture of meat, but because I love animals.

  • Although, some of these vegan recipes look absolutely delicious.

  • Mmmmm that looks so good!

  • I find it very ironic how many choose to go vegan, but find recipes to make their food taste similar to meat dishes.

  • Well, just my POV, it's the easing into the lifestyle/diet as it's not easy to just stop eating meat. Except once you're used to it, you like the flavors and textures. No vegan/vegetarian food tastes EXACTLY like it's original counter-part. You like its specific texture and flavor differences. I know from experience that I actually prefer mock duck to real duck at times. (I grew up in a traditional Vietnamese household & went vegetarian during segments of the month, sometimes still do.)

  • I guess you're right--I enjoy those too considering that I'm Vietnamese as well. But I'm simply referring to those vegans that choose to deny meat into their diet. It doesn't make sense to me for someone who thinks eating meat is wrong to find imitations.

  • We are against the exploitation and killing of sentient beings, not the taste of meat, dairy, or eggs. Just as someone who is against sweatshop labor may still like the style of a garment that was produced using sweatshop labor, so they'll either replicate it themselves, or find the non-sweatshop made alternative so they can enjoy wearing that style of clothing without the cruelty.

  • beautiful analogy,without sarcasim,anger,just beautiful

  • Most people don't believe in killing humans but watch movies simulating so much human murder. But that's all it is, a simulation.

At least soy meat is only imitating a taste, not the brutality of animal exploitation, torture, and slaughter.

Liking a taste has nothing to do with ethical decision to not support animal exploitation.

Most meat-based tastes are also simulated with the use of plant-based herbs, spices, and sauces.

  • great argument. i see what you're saying now.

  • oh wow! 2 analogys, that i agree with on one channel,,,,the unsilenced and StopSpeciesism...i want you in my world

  • Veganism is an ethical choice. It's about rejecting animal exploitation and speciesism. It's not about hating a taste.

I didn't go vegan because I hated the taste of animal products. When I was omni it was MOST of what I ate! I went vegan because I realized that non-human animals are not ours to exploit for our benefit. They aren't commodities or property.

  • @VeganButterfly thats why i love this channel so much! I used to looove meat, but then i realized how disgusting the industry is, that when i said, this is wrong, im not eating meat ever again!

  • some vegans think it's wrong to do just that!

  • not really ironic if you consider that most of us grew up eating meat and it was a comfort food - I loved the texture of meat, just got grossed out knowing that it was animal flesh. I know all vegetarians are different...

  • that dog at the end was like "gimme a rib!"

  • Hi, I am loving all of your videos specifically. You're great to learn from. Can you tell me where to look for liquid smoke please? I cannot find it at the store so far. Thanks so much.

  • Thanks Badfish! I usually find liquid smoke on the condiment aisle at the grocery store, near the BBQ sauces and such. You can also find it online. It should only be a couple of dollars per bottle, and will last a long time.

    Good luck!

  • May I add some other various favorings and spices and such, or will it become too overpowering and ruin the dish?

  • Sure, go to town and experiment with the seasonings!

  • I made Bryanna's ribs before, and they tasted good, but turned out like big puff balls- not rib shaped, and more of a bread like texture. What did I do wrong? I want to try these but I've made Bryanna's ribs twice and had the same problem both times. Am i kneading the dough too long?

  • I haven't made Bryanna's ribz before, just this recipe from Susan at the FatFree Vegan website. When I make this recipe I don't knead the dough. I just stir it together and then press it into the pan. Try not kneading it and see if it helps.

  • Thanks for your response. I'll give this recipe a try very soon.

  • I made these today and I'm disappointed with their flavor. I don't think they are half as good as Riblets. :(

    Maybe they'll taste better tomorrow...

  • I agree I didn't know how to make seitan. I'm a not a cook but as a vegan I have to stop buying so much processed food even if they are vegan . Looks so much more tasty and fresh. That's what I LOVE most of all at my fav rest is the seitan!!!I will be getting your book soon! Thank you so much.

  • is it okay to leave the yeast out completely?

  • Yes, but it does add a nice flavor.

  • Looks great. I love how you speed the camera up. It reminds me of a Bionic Woman episode.

  • I must try these one day! They look so good!

  • I really want to try some vegan recipes and this looks fabulous. I hate to cook though and tend to make many things all at once so I can freeze and reheat. Would these be ruined if I froze them after baking so that I could just pull them out and toss them on the grill?

Thanks again for all these videos. I am just starting to learn about vegan living and these videos have helped a lot to peek my interest in the food.

  • Hi ChaoticMoira,

I haven't tried freezing them, but it might be fine. If you try it I would love to hear how it works out. The Italian Sausages from our website (everydaydish(dot)tv) can be frozen after steaming, so that recipe could work well for you too.

    Good luck!

  • Susan! I tried your Ribz! They were so good. Thank You very much for your videos!

  • I think I'm going to struggle to get liquid smoke..just had to google to see what it is - and it seems quite difficult to get in the UK. The ribz look really tasty, will try and make them this weekend. Oh and I love the dog's face at the end - showing those sad puppy eyes!!

  • i gotta start making my own seitan. it looks so much easier than i thought.

  • charcoal grill to get that flavor i have had them store bought and there so good,,i have a few hundred vegan recipes,,tast so good

  • hiya julie! these look fab! do you think these would do well on an outside grill?

    jennifer

  • Hi mydogpercy! Yes, I think these would be great on an outdoor grill.

  • I just made these and oh my gosh! These are so good! I used a George Forman grill and I drizzled agave nectar on when they were done.

  • I got a new grill pan JUST to make these!! And, today I used hoisin sauce on them. OMG, was incredible! My omni friends at them ALL up!!!

  • These were great, but tasted better after they sat overnight. Also, make sure you really mix the PB into the liquid... I didn't and it showed.

  • I also love them after they've chilled overnight. I usually make a double batch so that I have lots of leftovers in the fridge.

  • My husband loved the results and can't wait to make himself a rib sandwich with the next batch.

  • Oh, a BBQ sandwich sounds good!

  • I made these and I am happy to report they were DELISH!!

  • Thanks!

  • mmm yum. I will try these. Do these taste like The morningstar Riblet?

  • Similar, but I think these are better.

  • Looks YUMMY!! I'd use my actual grill (outside) in the summer.. But now it looks like I will need to get a grill pan for the winter!!

  • Julie you rock! Thank you :)

  • Ok, that recipe looks SO much easier than any other seitan recipe I've done. I'm definitely going to make this this week. Keep 'em coming. :)

  • I make these all the time! They are AWESOME.
