I don't hate the version with vocals, I actually think it's pretty great. But the music deserves to be appreciated like this. Nujabes had the best hooks and melodies of any producer in recent memory.
He put true meaning in his rap. He described the woman in all aspects. He complemented on her intelligence, personality and beauty. I think some of the people who "dislike the rap" are only picking up on the complements on her physical appearance and not picking up the metaphors describing her intelligence and personality or how she's is more that just some girl.

How are you going to complain about him complimenting a woman's features in a song called "Lady Brown"? It's a song about a woman, and usually, when you're writing a song about your ideals on a fine woman, you usually veer towards her physical features, no? If you put two and two together, the title sort of tells you what the song is about, hence the song title: "Lady Brown".
Each line doesn't need to be jam packed with meaning, that's what lines in a song are for.
