  • On Monday I toured the Martin guitar factory, what an amazing place. If you are ever in the Philadelphia area, you have to check it out. The tours are free!!! While I was there I got to play one of these DCPA3's... it plays beautifully. It was amazing to see how much is done by hand and the level of craftsmanship that goes into them. They said that the average Martin guitar takes 3 months start to finish. Marty, I will send you a few pics from where your guitar was made.

  • I was messin with our Praise leader at our church last Sunday, he was saying his guitar was going out of tune and I told him sell that Taylor and buy a Martin (like me) and it would stay in tune. LOL The other guitarist, who sells Taylor said yea, but you have to play those Martins. LOL We all had a good laugh. I love my Martin HD-28. I really didn't like the new series as much. Don't get mr wrong, every guitar for every person but I think you get more pure guitar with the traditional Martins

  • Pause at 0:53

  • now thats a lesson, marty jamin with his dad!!!! thumbs up anyone?

  • "Hard to create that acoustic sound".

Isn't that why a lot of guys would just mike the instrument, I know Rory Gallagher just had a mic in front of the guitar or mandolin when he was playing acoustic.

Or was that more because it was the 70's?

  • Im prolly your biggest fan, when i started watching your shit i could barely strum a bar chord, but now i would consider myself an ok/good guitarist, it would be cool if you started coming out with more complicated acoustic lesson, with more finger picking and what not......just saying

  • Hey Marty, I really admire you're teaching skills... so I want you to teach us all a really sweet song that I really really love ... The song name is Say Goodnight - by Bullet For My Vallentine.. and acoustic it's sounds great... So please , please can you do a leason? :) Thank You !

    CHEERS! ;)

  • Good one Marty. May it play long and true.

  • is maton or martin better in general??

  • Costs $4,200 here in Australia

  • first guitar i owned was an Indiana scout dreadnought cut away guitar. i still have it today and even though its cheep its the only guitar ill ever use. my guitar also has a built in tuner, nothing better than having one. but back to the point, im not a small guy, so the only guitar ill use is a dread, just feelts better, and ive been spoiled by a cut away so i cant go to an original style. point is im glad marty has the same mine frame as me

  • the inside of that guitar looks like a look into the past at the crucifixtion

  • Marty what do you think about the OMC-Aura?? I want to get it but I don't know yet

  • After my 77 year old grandpa started taking guitar lessons I figures it would be as good a time as any to pick up a guitar and learn how to play. So in April I got a Yamaha FG730S, and I absolutly love it. Priced for a beginner but a great sound and very playable. Course I'm just starting to play so my opinion probably doesn't mean a whole lot, but figured I'd throw it out there.

  • you should do a lesson on carlos santana's solo on "into the night" thumbs up so he can see!!!

  • man, really , does marty has a guitar brand , I almost dont understand english lol

  • @Hamzie11

  • dont like it

  • does he have a video on how to pick new acoustic guitars?

  • Marty can you give tips on how to reduce feedback on stage? I use three pedals one is a noise suppressor and it helps a little but I still get a lot of feed back. I know the basics like now stand close and or facing your amp but do you know any equipment or any other tips to help?

  • why don't you buy a nylon guitar??

  • can you connect you new guitar on an amp??

  • what happened to the pic guard on your m36 is that line on it just what it looks like or has it built up a little character over the years?

  • I now pronounce Marty's favorite chord as "D".........LOL

  • Nice new guitar Marty. And thanks for all the lessons, you make a difference in my playing

    theketch54

  • great sound! Nice guitar....only if? Perhaps you should do a review on some budget guitars for beginners, not everyone can afford expensive guitars. Maybe price categories.....Around $500, then up to $1,000 etc

  • @sempei58 check out Zager guitars. For the money they play better and sound as good as guitar2X-3X more. I have the Mahogany Big Baby and it out plays most of the guitars I have picked up.

  • its awesome cause just a couple days after you bought yours i went out to guitar center to buy a Martin 000CX1E. i couldn't be happier and i learned 99.89% of what i know today thats to your lessons i got through my email and here on youtube. so thank you greatly for this and i would not even know a G chord if it wasn't for you. and im sure everybody else feels the same way. thank again form your biggest fan.

  • does marty has a guitar brand?

  • @tolislove yes he owns cf martin. (his full first name is martin)

  • @tolislove lol wt no

  • not gonna lie... that little lick/run around 2:55 was really nice marty

    great.

  • Marty, can you please tell me the advantages of different types of guitar wood types?

and I was one of those people that commented looking for your old guitar.

  • @sawyerbobby European and Sitka Spruce are most common for topwoods today. While European Spruce is more brittle, but is richer in overtones and has a very clear tone color which is ideal for fingerpickers. Sitka is more springy and has a more rounder, warmer tone which is ideal for flatpickers. Brazilian rosewood is typically the choice for sides and backs. It's brittle, but is very acoustically live. Maple backs muffle the reverb and is ideal for jazz and bluegrass. Hope this helps!

  • @cbennz514 this is the specs of my guitar: Top: Solid Sitka spruce

Back and sides: Nato (eastern mahogany)

    Neck: Nato

    Fingerboard and bridge: Rosewood

I play from finger picking to strumming, what do you think?

  • @sawyerbobby Typically Mahogany (as well as Koa) is highly variable in their physical properties compared to rosewoods and maples. The denser the Mahogany the more it will ring (like rosewood), while the lighter and looser the wood is, it will sound more mellow and somewhat muted. With necks and fingerboards what's most important is how it's cut (strait grained, without irregularities) and not so much on what type of wood it is. Even though it's cheaper, rosewood makes a better bridge than ebony

  • @cbennz514 this all a bit complicated but thanks,i gotta look up all this stuff

  • @sawyerbobby Yeah, it can get very complicated and this is just the beginning. There's different bracing systems, the guitar shape, bridge placement, voicing the face, yada yada yada... I'm in the process of building my own guitar and bought a few books on the dynamics and physics of it. Prior to this I was completely clueless. It's not just a box made out of wood it turns out :)

  • @cbennz514 i know about the fret affecting sound, but other than that meh.... you're making your own guitar? i wanna see a finished product video!

  • Hey Marty!, the Black RINGS under your eyes are telling me that you need some sleep Bro!!!

  • Hey wassup, Marty! Yep Martin make some beautiful guitars. But way expensive for most of us :-( Any chance you could review a few good cheap acoustics for us plebs on a budget who want to make a change from electric ? Pretty please?

  • damn. does the built in tuner need charging?

  • Soo weird. I just played my first Martin the other day at a Guitar Center, instantly fell in love, and have been obsessing over them ever since....and now this video. I think it's a sign....a sign that I should have one ;) What beautiful beautiful guitars Martin makes. No wonder they're so legendary.....and expensive, heh.

  • i would buy gibson for that cash

  • @UnceBobTouchedMe Martin > Gibson for acoustics

  • @UnceBobTouchedMe Really, Why?
