wow took forever to finally find out who sings this incredible song and the irony is the artist came from my own back yard..amazing how some things stare you right in the eye and we over-look them..40 yrs later and i found it..
this song was written about a friend of mine. His father Joey wrote it years before he had his son, but when he did, he named him Jodie. Winnipeg music.
Just one more reason, I'm proud to be a Winnipegger, I didn't know Joey Gregorash was from there as well. I learnt something today thanks for posting :)
@29958867 No - Joey Gregorash was a Canadian Recording artist I heard first on the Big 8 CKLW in Windsor - it does have the CCR sound for sure - Check out another one of his tunes called "My Love Sings" - He also did a cover version of Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl" and "Down by The River".
I remember this song, I used to listen to it over & over when I was 11 or 12. I was at the garbage dump today about to put some cardboard into the compactor & this song was playing on the radio. All the memories came flooding back.
Very talented Canadian from Winnipeg. Three greats from the windy city in Manitoba; Burton Cummings, Joey Gregorash and Winnie the Pooh. Must be a great city.
Good song. However, Gregorash's best song was his cover of Neil Young's "Down By The River." It used to be up here but it was taken down. I hope someone will post it again soon.
I fucking LOVE this song, except the oldies station that would play this song (along with tons of other obscure '60s and '70s Canadian music) went off the air. WHOO! Good to hear it again!!!
Joey Gregorish is a Canadian who had a couple of hits including this song and the Wedding Song. He also had a T.V. show called Skiddle Bits it was out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Thanks very much for the information! A lot of great Canadian Bands came out of Winnipeg....it is so cold in winter, they have nothing else to do but rock and roll!
Good Choice Terry. I can probably add down by the river i have the album North County Funk from Joey Gregorash it's from vinyl but it sounds pretty decent.
Thanks a million. I've been trying to find that song for years. It had a lot of airplay in Vancouver. Now if I could just find Sunny Goodge Street by Tom Northcott.

Sounds like Mr Gregorash was a serious John Fogerty fan. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

@TTipper Too much, that was the case for me too. I was a kid in kindergarten hearing this tune on the radio and it was the first song I ever liked.

This is the most amazing CCR copy song ever! I wonder if CCR actually recorded this song as "Joey Gregorash"?
