I think Plant is a treasure from the past. Back from the days when artists had careers that spanned decades not months like they do now. Just check on Usher 20 years from now. I bet he's been long washed up. The same goes for many of todays solo artists as well as groups. The past 20 years have only produced "One hit wonders" in my opinion when compared to the groups of the 70s and 80s.
Wow, how can someone say Led Zeppelin was crap? That I just don't understand. And to the person that said he "stooped to the level" what does that even mean? If people are expect Zeppelin covers then that clearly is not what they will get. Every strong artist changes up their style every once in a while, it shows growth. Robert Plant is a legend. PERIOD
I laugh at the people putting Led Zeppelin down. Led Zeppelin was a very huge stepping stone in rock and roll, their music was revolutionary. And if not for Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant wouldn't be where he is today. I adore all of his music, he's a legend. One isn't truly a fan, if they can bash all of his old music and Led Zeppelin, yet sit here and praise his new music. A true fan, would recognize the music revolution that Led Zeppelin was because of Robert. Not just because of his new music.
@ledheadbobh As a "Zep Fan," you're used to feminine corporate rock guys dancing around playing crappy dinosaur rock in a stadium, not a masculine yet intelligent Robert Plant performing sophisticated blues, folk and country songs with The Band Of Joy. The days of Led Zeppelin and all crappy classic rock are over!
Except that "crappy classic rock" is just about the only thing that sells on the concert circuit. You know what the biggest grossing touring act this year was? Rush. With the passing of the bigtime classic bands, the concert industry has been acknowledged as being pretty much dead.
@robibm2003 That's too bad. Rush fans can be ultra-nerds. Perfect example of dinosaur rock. Hopefully Robert Plant can change the current state of the concert industry. I would much rather see him in a club than watch him on a big screen in a crappy arena sitting next to white trash classic rock fans.
@hectorsalina so true. i saw him last night and some idiot behind me kept shouting about what a disgrace this was to music, that it was disgusting. its appalling. plants putting out some of the best music of his career with a kick ass band, and stupid people get down on him because they go to shows expecting zepp covers
Yeah! How dare a musician try to step out of the musical pigeonhole he has been relegated to by the music consuming public! His life doesn't belong to him! It belongs to us old fart onetime hippies turned stockbrokers and insurance salesmen! Doesn't he know that? Raise your walkers in protest!
@ledheadbobh you are extremely sad my good sir, youd have to be an IDIOT not to see that what Roberts doing with the band of joy is GENIUS, and excellent music. pull your head out of your ass and accept that youre just one more closed minded zeppelin fan who knows jack shit about music
@shademonger13 ..Robert may be a genius, all these folks very talented--but we love Robert to Rock..not to polka..and please, you think zeppelin fans are close-minded and dont know jack-shit about music?..thats a very stupid statement and discredits any imput you may have.
@whisperinwindcried67 i am a huge zep fan actually, i just think that the statement made above about "stooping to this level" is just ignorant. its good music, and its definitley not polka... the "one more closed minded" comment was made partly in response to a loud obnoxious fan sitting behind me at a recent plant show screaming how awful it was, the whole time. i love zeppelin, and would love to see robert just bang out some zep tunes, but i also love good music, and this fits that description

Showing the remarkable good taste to choose an obscure Richard Thompson song. Extra points for song selection.
