  • How did I miss this one? I especially loved to play Giuliani when I was first learning the classical repertoire. Not only are his low-position works very playable, they are also very satisfying to play and make great early concert-quality pieces. You bring out the best in this delightful Rondo. Thanks for the memories!

    Paul

  • @freescorepaul Thank you dear Paul. I always appreciate your kind attention!! At this time of the year ther's much work to do except playing the guitar and even if I use a glove on my right hand, I have to repair nails with superglue and parts of a ping-pong ball.

  • Amazing! Where did you learn this song? Sheet music, or is there a tab somewhere?

  • @LickyDisco Thank you kindly! Search for: "guiliani op71 free score" I don't know anything about "tab"

  • Very nice! This is one my favorite pieces that I play almost every day, and I still don't have it as fluid as you do. Nice use of dynamics and tempo variations to keep it interesting. Giuliani pieces can seem very heavy unless you play them well - and you do! Nice sound too - did you add a little echo, or is it the acoustics where you played?

Love it - keep it up!

  • @mjverive This recording, in my little "dry" homestudio, is added some reverb. The oldest recordings are made analog with natural acoustics, no editing.

    Thank you for kind comment!

  • This is one of my favorites by Giuliani, which I first heard from Per-Olof Johnson in the seventies. Great music, thanks!

  • I never met Per-Olof Johnson, but he has had a great influence on my interest for the classical guitar. When I got his "Gitarrskola del II" in my hand, it felt like a blessing. Thank you for commenting!

  • I wish you all the best of luck with your Giuliani study! Thank you for your kind words! I have played this rondo "by sight "for many years, but than I decided to try out the "planting" tecknique (place the righthand fingers on the strings simultaneously) in the arpeggioparts at the end.

  • Thank you for commenting. I think I prefer the natural reverberation in the auditorium where we made our old analog recordings (the duos recordings from 1994 on my page). Now, in my little homerecording-room, the recordings are "dry" and I add a little reverb by means of my sound-edit software (Sound Forge) This is the nearest I can get the "old" sound.

I'm sorry, I can't help you with "tab". Standard music notation is a fasinating language with great advantages!

  • Hi

Yes I would sooner have standard music notation. Being new to this, all I hear is people talking about 'TAB' so I assumed that was the going thing. I do read music and as you say phrasing is a lot easier.

  • Takk skal du ha for hyggelig kommentar. Jeg har gjort en del innspillinger i en kirke i nærheten uten noen bruk av effekter, men disse hjemme-opptakene i et lite rom er pålagt noe "reverb"

  • Hello there, I have read a performance notes on the Australian Music Examinations Board's forth grade guitar exam. It suggests that "The tension can relax momentarily in bars 95 and 96 before the strong final chords". What do you think? Also, in bar 94 it suggests ff for the second bass G. What do you think?

  • Great job! You know you had a lot of good 19th cen. guitar composers, but as far as im concerned, giuliani was by far the best guitar composer of all time. his music is so light and filled with charm.

  • Thank you for commenting!!
