How did I miss this one? I especially loved to play Giuliani when I was first learning the classical repertoire. Not only are his low-position works very playable, they are also very satisfying to play and make great early concert-quality pieces. You bring out the best in this delightful Rondo. Thanks for the memories!
@freescorepaul Thank you dear Paul. I always appreciate your kind attention!! At this time of the year ther's much work to do except playing the guitar and even if I use a glove on my right hand, I have to repair nails with superglue and parts of a ping-pong ball.
Very nice! This is one my favorite pieces that I play almost every day, and I still don't have it as fluid as you do. Nice use of dynamics and tempo variations to keep it interesting. Giuliani pieces can seem very heavy unless you play them well - and you do! Nice sound too - did you add a little echo, or is it the acoustics where you played?
@mjverive This recording, in my little "dry" homestudio, is added some reverb. The oldest recordings are made analog with natural acoustics, no editing.
Since you posted this video in 2007 I honestly didn't think you would receive any comments from this page! If I'd known, I would have directly addressed you. You play beautifully. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
I never met Per-Olof Johnson, but he has had a great influence on my interest for the classical guitar. When I got his "Gitarrskola del II" in my hand, it felt like a blessing. Thank you for commenting!
I was looking for some time for this piece in youtube and couldn't find it because it is called "allegretto" in my book. Glad I found it at last and played by a real master! Congratulations, I enjoyed it very much and will try to learn from it!
I'm will listen to your rendition many many times. I'm using youtube to teach myself and I really look up to guitarists like you. I loved the places you become sweet and soft. thanks so much for sharing this piece.
I wish you all the best of luck with your Giuliani study! Thank you for your kind words! I have played this rondo "by sight "for many years, but than I decided to try out the "planting" tecknique (place the righthand fingers on the strings simultaneously) in the arpeggioparts at the end.
Thank you for commenting. I think I prefer the natural reverberation in the auditorium where we made our old analog recordings (the duos recordings from 1994 on my page). Now, in my little homerecording-room, the recordings are "dry" and I add a little reverb by means of my sound-edit software (Sound Forge) This is the nearest I can get the "old" sound.
