i was a forward observer in the RANGER RGMT, i worked with PJs & gotta say theyre some badass tip top shape dudes. anybody can be a grunt but only a few can save lives!!! i respect them for what they do, i also love the TACC, im great at my job but those guys are experts at calling for fire!!!
To anyone wanting to do this do circut traning I made the mistake of doing my worlouts all the same day and not. Right after another trust me you want to be used to going hard
I'm only 16 and have put some serious thought into military life style. I set my goal in life, becoming a PJ or Combat Control. Hope i can achieve. These men put their lives at risk to save other lives. So much respect to them
Nice video. Some good footage. Just FYI, Pararescue is all one word and should always be capitilized. It was two words back in the late 40's when there were Para doctors, but not anymore. Good luck to you. My advice: Don't quit ... ever.
alright you do not have to be an officer to do this. and its way harder than you can imagine so if you want to do it i would runnn alot im talkin 5 miles 3 times a week swim even more.. and to pretty much be prepared for the hardest thing of your life
@WR3STL3 No you can join right after you finish high school, and let me give you some advice, don't listen to these people here on YouTube. When you want to join go talk with an Air Force recruiter for a few minutes, and make sure he know just what you want to do in the Air Force.
@Nicdaneill I Don't see why not. But before you do anything, take the time to talk with an Air Force recruiter. It is a recruiters job to bring in new recruits. You can also go to their website and ask a recruiter from there.
@WR3STL3 you cant be a field pararescueman as an officer. you can only have a desk job for planning the operations for pararescue. what you do is go talk to a recruiter near by and also you go to basic training first then to the pararescue selection school (it think)
Combat Rescue Officers (The officer counterpart of Pararescuemen) do go out into the field with the enlisted PJs. They also go through the same pipeline plus some additional training. Though they are responsible for getting equipment and training for the enlisted PJs, I don't imagine much of their mission-planning is a desk job, because, due to the unpredictable nature of their missions, a lot of the planning needs to be done on the spot.
Right out of HIghschool, But i have some advice. Train TRAIN TRAIN before you sign up. Youre looking at one of the most difficult jobs out there, And god knows we need them but people cant survive the cut.
Having this way of life is apart of my dreams every night. I train everyday either running, swimming, calisthenics, or all of the above. I will not tire. I will not falter. I wait for the day I wear the PJ badge.
I'm goin in the airforce in a few months hope I get the pj job. I wanna see how hard and vigorous they train amd to learn my real strengths and what I can push my body to do just a very riskfull job
damn...i really hoped that wasn't the case. so i guess with something that important damaged i wouldn't be much use in the military. haha. oh well. time to study and hope i get good grades in my engineering courses.
there's one burning question i have for any PJ who reads this...does the military accept you if you have eye problems? not just glasses but have had surgery on ur eye. will that restrict a person from actually becoming a PJ?
i saw a pj come out of a dinning facility a few days ago and everyone got out of his way we have a great deal of respect 4 these men i know how hard it must b 2 b in tech school 4 over a year and i bitch cuz im in 15 weeks
This looks like one of the most fun jobs in the world. Sadly (and happily in some ways) I don't live in the USA and we don't have anything like this in New Zealand.
i understand what you mean by that i love my country but my goverment is F up and i thought new zealand had their own type of search and rescue group ?
One of my dreams is to be a ParaRescueman. I have always admired and respected them. My uncle was in CSAR and I was always fascinated by his job and how he risked his life to get others out with theirs.
If I become ( correction, WHEN) I become one will probably be the proudest day of my life. A life where I can possibly save hundreds, or thousands of others is a life well lived for me, no matter the risk .
My son is joining the Air Force and being accepted into Para Rescue is his main goal and objective. 70 percent fail the first boot camp and 90 percent fail along the way. The remaining 10 percent live the saying "That others may live!"
can you become a PJ if you join another branch of the military. I know for the SEALS if you are in the marines you can join same goes for some other Special Forces units. is this true for PJs?
probably not. i joined the air force and am going into pararesecue. the reason is because the marines are a sub group of the navy. The marines take their medics from the navy. you can still be a PJ in the Air force reserves or air guard as well.
Go to your recruiter , Ask for the Pararescue Apprentice ( if enlisting ) , And pray to whoever it is you pray to that you pass the PFT for PJ Indoc. Then pray again that you finish PJ Indoc.

The one bad thing about PJ is the training, cutting grass with safety scissors, carrying a telephone pole or a huge rope everywhere.

@USMilitaryVideos Ok thanks, Just one more question.
When do i need to prepare for training? Like a year in advance? I'm in good shape from wrestling but the swimming is the big question.

@WR3STL3 Well as soon as possible is for the best, if your high school has a swim team try joining that, Polo even works.
