I'm from the u.k. and was on holiday in florida when this space shuttle went up. I was totally amazed it was fantastic. I'm just happy i got to see it. I will never see anything like it again, only on t.v.

it's probably to do with the earth being round. it moves upward but also to the side. but definitely not down...

it actually is suppose to curve. The reason being is that if you were to go straight up to space, you would be perpindicular with earth, and would have to use multi-directional rockets to steer. Which is difficult.

Instead, they go up on an angle, with the shuttle upside down, so when they reach orbit, they are already upside down, and in the right direction.

The reason being upside down is because those tiles on the bottom are heat resistant, thus protects shuttle from sun.

Jangle, Whilst i understand you don't like people making comments about your country like that, but making wild generalisations about the UK is equally stupid. McDonalds is great but its not an improvement on British food, id still take a roast beef dinner anyday.
