I own a 2001 E39 and I have tried to grow into loving this generation of 5 series, but to this day I haven´t succeeded. Just too curvy for my tastes, but fortunately the new 5 series got more good looking than the E60. If I had to update my e39 it would be probably towards an E90, that one is great looking.

In addition BMWen achieves top score for safety. 2010 the model f10 :) Mercedes also makes it good in ncap.. but they have not done better than the bmw in NCAP tests.

You cant say that car is more safe than another car just by looking how much damage its done to the car body....theres a lot more stuff that matters MUCH more than the damage. The Volvos are bigger, and in a multi-car crash, large car is better in safety. Plus the Civic deployed the curtain airbags in the frontal offset, while the Volvos didn't. 2 pluses for Volvo.

All dual-stage airbags have two connectors, and single stage airbags have one connector and it is basically for different impact speed. For low speed crshes the sirbag would deploy in one stage not fully deploying to to injure the passenger plus the airbag comes out slower and at high speed the airbags deploys with all the force to protect the passengers. It basically depends on speed thats all.
