Modern cruise ships look like container ships with windows. Seems that the cruise industry is more concerned with building big, than they are with building a ship that looks like a ship, rather than a ship that looks like a stack of cartons.

  • The differance on the two Mauretanias was that the first had no white band & had 4 funnels. The second had a white band, but had only two funnels.

  • The 2 Mauretanias should have never been scrapped. Scrapping Ocean LIners is PURE EVIL!

  • so what

their old but the can make a hotel of the ships

  • @SuperTitanicfreak Olympic, Mauretania 1 and 2 and Aquitania shouldn't have never been scrapped.

  • RMS MAURETANIA

  • She looks just like RMS Lusitania

  • @dimmer007 oh it's not just you, a lot of people think so, including me ;)

  • that looks like the lusitania

  • it's lusitania in 2:44

  • there are the mauretania and the olympic, that waws beautiful ships, THANKS CUNARD LINE, the white star line was best!!

  • what is the song in this video? plz reply

  • instead of the grand staircase there are the grand floor and chair

  • did it ever sink?

  • @hillbillypilot No. The ship was salvaged in 1934. And was replaced in 1936 and the replacement today is now salvaged. She did run as a Hospital ship during world war 1. Thankfully had a better fate then the Britannic which never operated as as passenger ship as she intended. The Britannic struck a contact mine and sank within 57 minutes with only 30 deaths.

  • TITANIC RULLEZ:X

  • Hey the cunard ships and white star line ships look just like titanic but the sterns of cunard and white star sterns looked alot different

  • 3:03 is that titanic in the left?!?

  • @daniding1 its olympic not titanic

  • @dimmer007

Nooo your not alone on that at all,

I prefer the older liners too, compared to the overly glized out stack of pancakes look of the modern cruise ship's

the Older liner's LOOOKED LIKE A SHIP AND HAD NICE GRACEFUL LINES the moder ones have no line's,

Tottally gaudy looking box with stack of pancakes look,to them,

    Yucccchh.

    TOTALLY GROSSE!!!!!

  • LOOK JUST LOOK MAURETANIA IS NOT THAT WELL NONE TITANIC IF HAVENT SANK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FORGOTEN

  • i love this vid...thanks,this summer i was blessed,i,m now the very proud owner of one of her lifeboats..infact i,m off out in half an hour to hunt down a halibut ...... hopefully . She lives in Scrabster Highlands.and sails the Pentland firth. i love her

  • i didn,t catch a halibut,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • I love this song, it fits quite well. this song is a lasting tribute to The Great Ocean Liners, especially Mauretania 1 & 2.

  • Mauretania of 1907 & Mauretania of 1938. Both Mauretanias had drop dead gorgeous interiors & both had good long lives. I only wish that upon retirement that both Mauretanias should be preserve or sunk

  • Cunard= Volvo

    White Star=Mercedes

  • i cant tell the 1 from the 2??

  • The biggest shit in the october 1935 two brilliant ships are died

    The olympic and the mauretania

  • @dimmer007 Oh yeah, much more so.They looked like ships and had classy, historic names. The new ones look like wedding cakes on steroid and have silly names like Carnival Bipolar Mania.

  • @dimmer007 No, I agree.

  • I have a ten foot model of the Mauretania;radio-controlled;semi-scale;fitted kort nozzle, single screw,c.d.player/horn operated by r/c.can turn in her own length!!Can be seen at Crealy adventure park nr.Exeter on Father`s day[club open day]

  • I wish both Mauretanias were presreve. I think Mauretania 1 & 2 should be persreve side by side with a gangplank connecting the 2 on the promenade deck

  • @SuperTitanicfreak Amen to that

  • @blakesnearey96 why mauretania sank?

  • @isheemckenzie11 noooo...she was scrapped when the queen mary set out for her return to new york

  • Mauretania's gross tonnage was 31,938; Titanic's was 46,328.

Also, to clarify: while Mauretania sailed on the Cunard Line, it was BUILT by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, England. Titanic sailed on the White Star Line and was built by Harland and Wolff of Belfast, Ireland.

  • what is bigger RMS Titanic or Rms mauretania

  • @kez3arco12 titanic

  • @kez3arco12 The Titanic

  • Aquitania, Lusitania and Mauritania were built by Cunard. My old dad sailed ( yes they still call it sailed, even though they were powered by bloody great big engines), in its guise as a troopship, from Liverpool to 'old fashioned Bombay' en route to Burma.

  • isnt that the sister of titainic

  • Britannic and Olympic were, Mauretania and Lusitania were Cunard liners had a totally different appearence.

  • @Skeleflexcrazy: No, Olympic and Britannic were Titanic's sisters, all built by White Star Lines. Mauretania was built by the rival shipbuilders, Cunard.

  • @dimmer007 YES THE OLD STEAMERS were the SHIPS OF THE YEARS BACK THEN. not like today ships are built ugly only a few are good looking.

  • new ships only have like the boat deck, its like stacking as much on a boat

gonna lol when one sinks like titanic

  • Mauretania is great ship im my dreams and heart <3

  • song:nightwish-sleeping sun

  • Is Mauritania older or younger than Lusitania?

  • older

  • younger, Lusitania lost her blue riband to the Mauretania

  • The second Mauretania (2) was completed before World War II. She was designed as a '7-day boat' to compliment the faster '5-day boats' Queen Mary and later Queen Elizabeth on Cunard's North Atlantic run.

  • my grandad sailed on this ship....said it was the best he was ever on

  • My family and I came to the US from England on the Mauretania, December 1953...great ship in the Atlantic storm, with 90' waves.

  • As is so often the case on YouTube, an excellent video is ruined by the using some truly awful contemporary music for the soundtrack.

  • this song is horrible

  • ther is 1 maurentania

  • they built a namesake in the 30's as a tribute to the first one.

  • they had two mauretanias? The only one i heard of was the original mauretania that served in WWI and was scrapped in 1935

  • they built a namesake in the 30's as a tribute to the first one.

  • The 1st had 4 stacks, Mauretania II had only 2 stacks. I know someone who was on II during WWII as an army nurse. She describes her as magnificent and fast. Fast enough to outpace the submarines.

  • My grandmother was on that ship when she was

    a kid!

  • the first one?

  • Mauritania....

seccond only to her sister in terms of a successfull career

Aquitania served in both world wars.....

cunard's best liners of all time

  • Mauretania was 1000 times better and 10 000 times more beautiful then Mauretania2... The same as the movies - 2nd part is never as good as first.... :D

  • true

the fact that cunard had a seccond ship with the same name shows how sucessful and great she was

  • Yes, Mauretania was the famost ship of her age... Much more famous than her sisters.... Noone ever built Aquitania2 or Olympic2....

  • true, i orignally compared her to Aquitania

Truth be told, however, all 6 of the lusitania-class and olympic-class all were so great that even today, they are the most rembered group of ocean liner

you really cant put one above any other of the five

  • which one became the hospital ship, aquitania or mauretania. one of them were but they both looked almost identical. i know lusitania didnt because it sank

  • They both filled as troop transports and hospital ships at one point or another

  • there was never many picture's taken of the maratania two dont know why there just dosent seem many at all of her

  • There is at least one picture of the stern of Mauretania 2 included about mid-way through this video.

  • Yes, there are new Mauretania2 in 0:24, 0:27, 0:34, 1:45 and 1:49....
